(BL) Mafia Love; He who falls the hardest loses-Chapter 80: Waiting
Chapter 80: Waiting
Haruki wanted them to suffer for their crimes far from him to protect his family. Their punishment was inevitable, he just wondered how inhumane their punishments would be.
***
More days than he wanted passed, all too fast, without seeing Haruki. Haruki told him he would invite him, but he didn’t.
Hiroshi was busy at the hospital; no, he made himself busy helping his colleagues do their work with the excuse that he was free, and they could go ahead with what they hoped to do.
By night time, he is too tired to think about anything else and goes to bed as soon as he takes his bath at home. At work, he was too busy to bother with anything else, and he could properly focus his mind on the work he had. 5
But at home, with more free time and less stress, he would stare at the phone for hours contemplating whether to send a message to Haruki or not.
The good thing is he was able to have perfect control of himself while working, that was why he intentionally at on his work and sorted out from more to do on less busy days.
Tiredness wouldn’t let him sit for hours waiting for a call that won’t come, but that doesn’t mean it completely eradicated the hope that somehow Haruki would remember his existence and bring him over to him, visit him or call him over.
Hiroshi felt annoyed that he had to wait like a concubine for the emperor to come see him, but that was the role he had signed himself into with the other choice to leave, which he could not afford to take.
After more than a week, he chose to make the first move. After all, he had only six months to win Haruki over, and if the man kept avoiding him even after the first week of their relationship, he knew he had fewer weeks than when they started.
He was running out of time, so he could not be obedient anymore. He did not even bother sending a text to Haruki. He went to Haruki’s home.
He was not sure Haruki was in the main family house or even in the country at all, but he knew what he wanted, so he went to the house without hesitation.
He was told Haruki wasn’t at home when he asked the guards. When he asked if Haruki would be coming over there that night and if he could wait there for Haruki, they told him they couldn’t answer him.
When he was about to leave in defeat, he noticed Katoro. The young man met his gaze as he walked out and stopped beside the guard Hiroshi was talking to. He asked the guard something, and the guard responded.
He raised his head and looked at Hiroshi. It was almost impossible to know what he was thinking, considering that the man wore no expression. Hiroshi remembered the man who was beaten up badly by Haruki’s men, who looked stubborn even as he was stabbed.
The man’s eyes were filled with the need for vengeance, but he was now working with Haruki. It made Hiroshi worry a bit that Haruki might get hurt.
He was not certain that Haruki had truly harmed the young man’s brother, but for someone who was fueled by vengeance enough to stab Haruki in his house, knowing he couldn’t escape alive, was something he did not imagine the man would let go of easily.
He turned and walked back to the car with a bit of worry on his mind, although he knew deep down that he might never be able to persuade Haruki to do anything to any of his men until he could gain Haruki’s trust.
His position is just like the position of the young man when he stabbed Haruki. The young man might even be better than him after all. He came with plans for vengeance that he could carry out even without the right amount of trust, but what he wanted from Haruki required more than just Haruki letting down his guard.
He wanted the man to fall in love with him and become so dependent on him that he could not live without him. He wanted Haruki to go after him, just like he was trying hard to find Haruki.
He looked down at his phone when he sat down in his car. He called Haruki’s assistant. The young man picked up his call after it had been ringing for a while, and the doctor had a feeling that his call wasn’t going to get picked up.
"Hello," he said, bringing the phone to his ear.
"Dr. Yamamoto," the assistant acknowledged him.
"I want to meet the boss. Where is he?" He chose to ask straightforwardly.
"He is still at work," the assistant also responded without hesitation.
Hiroshi looked at the time. It was almost seven in the evening, so he went ahead to ask, "Has he eaten dinner yet?"
"No, he hasn’t," the assistant replied.
"I will bring dinner over to him, do you think that is okay?" Hiroshi asked.
"I think it is okay," the assistant responded monotonously.
When Hiroshi hung up, he drove away to his favourite restaurant and ordered some food. The food was packaged neatly in a luxurious manner before getting wrapped in a silk cloth and finally in a paper bag.
He walked his car, his feet touching the ground lightly as though he was skipping. He was going to meet Haruki. He was going to give the man food, to feed the man he loved. His heart raced as he drove from the driveway of the restaurant into the main road.
Knowing Haruki was busy at work made me feel good, although he still worried about the man getting himself stressed by overworking. It was good knowing he was not the only one who had to go through it all.
Haruki was busy while he was busy but Haruki hadn’t eaten, so he would have to feed the man to regain his strength. A bright smile remained on his lips as he parked in the underground parking lot of one of the skyscrapers owned by Yugen Holdings.
Holding the paper bag tightly, he walked to the lobby of the building from the underground parking lot. The security was tight, but he had the ID card of Haruki’s personal doctor.
It was a card he had never bothered using in the past, but it gave him access to Haruki’s office in case of an emergency that someone could not come to bring him up to Haruki’s office.
With such access, he walked out of the elevator onto the floor where Haruki’s office was. A beautiful, tall woman dressed in a fitting formal skirt and a free chiffon blouse noticed him and stopped holding a file.
She looked down at the bag he held before looking at him again. She was wearing a simple basic work clothes on a pair of black heels, but she looked gorgeous even in the absence of many accessories, as the only one she wore was a wristwatch.
She was the only one he could see on the quiet floor. It felt like her presence could not help but be amplified in the absence of anyone else.
She was Haruki’s secretary. She looked smart and very intelligent as she met his gaze calmly as Hiroshi approached her.
"How may I help you?" She took only a few steps toward him and stopped.
"I would like to meet Kiyoshi," the doctor chose not to be direct as he responded.
She gave him a once-over before turning and saying with a welcoming tone that sounded mandatory to her, "Come with me, please."
Her politeness made him a bit unsettled, but she was Haruki’s secretary, so the doctor decided not to mirror her actions and be respectful.
She stopped at her desk and began trying to make a call with the telephone on her table. She lifted the receiver to her ear and said, "I think someone lost their way in search of you."
Her tone was friendly with a bit of respect, as though she was only willing to give that much and nothing beyond that. The person on the other end had to be Kiyoshi, as she waited for the person to speak.
"Okay," she said before pressing the receiver down as though she had nothing else to say to Kiyoshi.
She left her desk, and Hiroshi felt confused about what to do, whether to go after her or wait. Just when he was contemplating, she turned to him and said, "Come with me."
Despite his hesitation, Hiroshi followed her towards the elevator. She stepped in, and he followed her in.
She went to the next floor below, and he followed her. When they got out of the elevator, she turned to him and said, "Next time, if you come by to see Kiyoshi, stay on this floor. That floor is strictly forbidden to strangers."
