[BL] Mr. Romano Contracted Husband-Chapter 58: Enjoy The Little Vacation
After finishing breakfast, Julian helped wash the dishes, which made Megara proud. Even though she had said she would wash the dishes herself, Julian refused and said he wanted to help too.
"You rest, Mom! Let me wash the dishes. I do this all the time," he said, pushing his mother out of the kitchen.
Arcane was still sitting at the dining table, sipping his coffee. He watched Julian washing the dishes, noticing that the man was humming happily.
"Looks like someone is very happy. Want to share it with me?"
Suddenly Julian chuckled, saying that it was nothing. He was still very happy to be back at his parents’ house, even though tomorrow afternoon he would have to return to the big city and resume his normal life.
As Julian focused on washing the dishes, Arcane stood up and hugged him from behind. This surprised him, because Arcane didn’t usually do that.
"Why all of a sudden? Why are you hugging me like this?" he asked suspiciously.
"Nothing. I’m just bored and don’t know what to do, considering this is your parents’ house." Arcane replied as he kissed Julian’s neck and shoulder.
He inhaled the scent of his body, as if he wanted to remember it forever. Julian, who was washing the dishes, felt ticklish as Arcane’s nose kept touching his skin.
"After this, would you like to come with me for a walk? I’ll show you some of my favorite places whenever I feel bored," said the green haired man.
"Of course I would. I can’t just sit around all day doing nothing. And since I happen to be here, why not?"
He quickly finished washing the dishes, then went to the bathroom to clean himself up. He asked Arcane to wait on the front porch, he would join him after his shower.
The man nodded in agreement, then walked to the porch of the house while waiting for his husband to finish cleaning himself up.
At the same time, he saw Louis using a lawn mower to trim the grass in his yard.
However, he was having a little trouble because the machine wouldn’t start. Arcane couldn’t just stand by and watch, so he walked over to his father in-law and offered to help.
"Do you need help? It looks like the machine isn’t working properly." Arcane knelt in front of the machine and checked it, finding that it was out of fuel.
"Really? Then I need to get some from the back shed. Can you stay here to help me fill it up? My back is killing me from bending over to refuel this machine," Louis asked.
"Of course."
He then went to the back shed to get fuel while Arcane waited in the front yard. Not long after, Julian came over wearing his hoodie and approached his husband.
"Why are you here with the lawn mower? Where’s my dad?" Julian asked, looking around.
"He went to the back shed to get fuel. Let’s just wait a minute because he wants me to help him fill up this lawn mower."
While waiting, Arcane looked around and realized that the area was close to the hills. From where he was standing, which was the yard of Julian’s parents’ house, he could see the mountains in front of him. Although they looked so far away, the morning atmosphere felt much cooler and colder than the atmosphere in the city where he currently lived.
The small town was often considered a village, even though it was more modern than most villages. There were already several bars, a university campus, and a small mall.
"Last night, this view wasn’t visible at all because it was dark and dim. Now I can see the hills not far from your current home," he said.
Julian nodded. "The view from my house is indeed very beautiful. You can see two mountains far away, looking beautiful. Unfortunately, this place isn’t as modern as the city we live in."
After helping Louis with his lawn mower, Julian took Arcane to a lake not far from his house. The lake looked very beautiful at that moment. The water was slightly crystallized, considering that winter was just around the corner.
"Do you often come here?"
"Yes. This place is quite secluded and also makes me feel calm. I once skipped school just to come here and spend the whole day until school was out," Julian said with a chuckle. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
He knew it wasn’t something to be proud of, but because he felt so lazy to go to school that day, he pretended to go to school but actually went to the lake instead.
"No wonder you’re so naughty. If you were one of my students, I would have punished you for skipping school," said Arcane, folding his arms in front of his chest and looking cynically at his own husband.
Julian laughed, teasing him by saying he was grateful Arcane wasn’t his teacher back then.
"It was just teenage mischief, right? Didn’t you ever misbehave when you were a teenager?"
Of course Arcane had been mischievous when he was a teenager, and it wasn’t something he wanted to remember because every time he did, he felt it was a stupid thing she had done.
The two of them then sat on a tree trunk by the lake, looking at the view in front of them. A cold wind continued to blow, even the leaves were blown by the wind.
The quiet atmosphere seemed to make them feel a little calmer. It was a far cry from the hustle and bustle of the city where they currently lived.
Julian shivered, feeling the cold against his skin. Arcane, noticing this, immediately pulled his husband closer to him.
"You knew it would be cold. Why didn’t you wear thicker clothes instead of just your hoodie?" he asked.
"I thought I was used to the cold. But apparently not—"
Without thinking twice, he took off the jacket he was wearing and put it on Julian. Arcane pulled his husband’s hand to go home.
"Come on, I don’t want you to catch a fever because of this. We’re only here until tomorrow afternoon. Don’t let our trip here end with you getting sick," he said.
He pulled Julian’s hand, holding it warmly as they walked back home.
At the Thorne residence, Megara was sitting on the terrace sewing. She then turned to Arcane and Julian who were walking home. The woman watched how Arcane treated her son.
A smile appeared on her face, seeing how Arcane truly loved Julian.
"I feel very relieved about that."
