[BL] Mr. Romano Contracted Husband-Chapter 78: A Nightmare
A red haired boy was running around in a park while snow was falling. He laughed happily, playing tag with his mother.
"Come on, mommy, catch me! Catch me!" he shouted, laughing with a happy face.
His mother smiled, running slowly to try to catch him. Her face looked a little pale, but she tried to stay strong and ignore the pain she felt so she could play with her son.
"Wait, Mommy, Arcane. I will catch you!" said his mother as she followed him.
As little Arcane ran and occasionally stopped to wait for his mother, he realized that she was getting weaker. She kept coughing, until at one point she bent over because her coughing was getting worse.
"Cough! Cough!"
Worried, little Arcane immediately ran towards his mother and looked at her condition up close. His face looked frightened, worried about his mother’s condition. He didn’t want anything to happen to her, because she was the only mother he had.
"Mommy, are you okay?" he asked, tucking her hair behind her ear.
"Mommy’s fine... Cough cough..."
She tried to cover her mouth when she coughed, until suddenly a red liquid dripped from her mouth onto the white snow below her.
The boy’s eyes widened in shock as he saw the blood coming out of his mother’s mouth.
"Mommy? Mommy!" he called out frantically. He looked around them, trying to find help. "Mommy, wait here, I’ll find someone to help you!"
As he was about to run off, Wilona, his mother, immediately stopped him and shook her head. She said she would be fine and that they could continue playing in the park. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"Mommy is fine. Aren’t we playing? You can run ahead, Mommy will catch up with you," she said, smiling at her son. She tried to keep Arcane from feeling sad about her current condition.
However, this only made Arcane even more worried, and he immediately shook his head. He held his mother’s hand tightly and asked to go home.
"Let’s just go home. I want Mommy to rest at home," he said with his head bowed.
Wilona tried to reach for his head and stroke it gently. "It’s okay, don’t you want to play in the-"
"I said I don’t want to! I don’t want to play anymore! I want to go home!" he replied angrily.
Without saying anything else, Arcane pulled his mother’s hand to leave the park and go home.
On the way home, her mother whispered something that made Arcane grip her hand even tighter.
"Forgive Mommy, Arcane."
Flashback End
’At that time... I never cared about playing outside or what I wanted. I just wanted Mom to rest so you could stay with me.’
Slowly, Arcane’s eyes opened, waking him from his sleep. His body was drenched in sweat and his head felt so painful. What’s more, he could feel his breath was hotter than usual.
"Haa... Haa... My head hurts so much," he muttered.
The man then turned to his side, seeing Julian still fast asleep. He smiled, feeling so relieved to see his husband sleeping peacefully. Slowly, he leaned closer to his face and kissed his forehead, before finally starting his morning as usual to make breakfast.
With his head feeling so heavy, Arcane walked to the kitchen to make coffee before cooking. It was unusual for his body to feel weaker than usual that day, he thought it might be because he had just woken up.
"After drinking coffee, I’ll definitely feel much better."
Fifteen minutes after Arcane woke up, Julian smelled something burning while he was asleep. His forehead immediately wrinkled, he sniffed the burning smell to make sure it was really burning or not.
As soon as he realized that it was indeed something burning, Julian immediately woke up and got out of bed. He ran out of the room, worried that there might be a fire in their house.
"ARCANE! IS SOMETHING BURNING?!" He shouted in panic, entering the kitchen and seeing Arcane sitting with burnt bread on the dining table.
It turned out that the unpleasant smell came from burnt toast. Julian, who knew this, felt so relieved. It wasn’t their house that was on fire.
But still, how could there be burnt toast on the table? It was unusual for Arcane to burn food like that, especially just a piece of toast.
"No need to yell. It’s just toast," replied the man.
"I’m sorry, I thought something had happened in the kitchen. But how did the bread get burnt? Is the toaster broken?" Julian walked closer and realized that there was something strange about his husband.
His yellow eyes narrowed as he looked more closely. Slowly, his hand reached for Arcane’s forehead, confirming his suspicions.
"Huh?! Your head is so hot! You have a fever!" he said in a panic. "No wonder your face looks so pale."
He asked Arcane to go back to his room and rest. Julian forbade him from going to school and teaching, worried that it would make his fever worse. Even though it was spring, the air outside was still cold and not good for Arcane.
However, he initially refused because he had to deliver an important lesson before next week’s exam. He was worried that his students would fall behind if he didn’t show up.
"But you’re sick! I don’t want your fever to get worse because of this. I know you want your students to get the best from you, but you can’t push yourself!"
"Just today. If my fever gets worse tomorrow, I’ll take tomorrow off. But I can’t do it now," he replied stubbornly.
Even so, Julian still forbade him to leave and wouldn’t even let Arcane get up from his chair.
"If you continue to resist leaving the house, I’d rather hold you down in this chair than let you go outside. Now you have two choices. Stay in this chair until your fever gets better or go to your room and rest!"
Julian gave him two choices so firmly, hoping he would give in.
However, Arcane, who was not afraid of Julian’s threats, stood up from his seat and stared at him with narrowed eyes.
"You can’t control me like that! If I decide to go and work today, then I will go!" he said firmly and seriously, walking past Julian.
Frustrated by his husband’s attitude, Julian immediately grabbed Arcane by the collar and pulled him down to the floor. Now Arcane felt his body aching from the fall.
"See? Can you still stand if you fall at school because of your fever?"
He pulled at his shirt collar and lowered his voice an octave. This was something Julian had never done before, especially to him. It happened because he was truly frustrated and annoyed by his stubbornness.
"You’re not going to teach today."
