[BL] Mr. Romano Contracted Husband-Chapter 99: Broken Hope
Julian’s hopes seemed to crumble when he received a phone call saying that they would not be able to adopt Luna. This was because they had received a report from someone that Arcane was involved in a case of abuse against a girl.
Of course, this came as a shock to both of them, because Arcane had never been involved in such a case. Unless, someone had deliberately done this so that they would not be able to adopt Luna. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
"A few days ago, we tried to conduct a survey at your house. Then someone told us that Mr. Romano was involved in a case of abuse against his own female student. So we decided not to allow you to adopt Luna," said Sandra.
"But that’s not true! My husband has never been involved in such a case. All of that is just a baseless accusation, and the issue has been resolved because the abuse never actually happened!" Julian tried to explain.
However, Sandra couldn’t do much because that was the report they had received when they conducted a survey in the area around the Arcane residence.
One thing about this sounded quite odd: Who did they ask for an interview in this matter?
Even in the case of the harassment that occurred, they were sure that Freya was involved. But no one outside of school should have known about this problem.
So how could people in their neighborhood know about this case?
Even though he tried to explain, Sandra still couldn’t give Luna to them, worried that something might happen. Finally, the phone call ended, with both of them devastated by a problem that continues to this day.
"But that case didn’t really happen! No one at school should have known about it, so how did they get that information?"
Julian looked so frustrated that tears streamed down his face because he had prepared everything, but they couldn’t get Luna.
Arcane himself didn’t understand how this could happen. However, he felt certain that this was still related to Freya. It was possible that she had manipulated the people from the adoption center.
"But that’s impossible. It’s a terrible coincidence that they suddenly met and those people immediately believed her words."
That night, Arcane tried to calm Julian down and said they would find another way to adopt Luna.
"I could ask the police for a statement if I had no record of doing anything like that. Although I doubt they would believe me, because they might think I paid the police for this," he said.
"Do you think this happened because we weren’t ready to have a child?" Julian asked resignedly.
Arcane’s arm pulled his husband closer, letting Julian bury his face in his chest. He knew this happened because of him too, because of his problems and also that naughty student. It’s just that he couldn’t deny that things would go this far.
It turned out that the problem was indeed not over yet.
Because in reality, just a few days after their hopes were dashed of not being able to get permission to adopt Luna, suddenly their yard was filled with lots of rotten fruit that had been thrown there.
"Damn, what’s that smell?" Julian tried to check around their house and found lots of rotten tomatoes and eggs in their yard.
"How did this get here? Arcane! Come here quickly and take a look!"
Hearing his name called, Arcane immediately walked to the front door and smelled the same rotten odor. He furrowed his brow, curious about where the rotten smell was coming from.
"Someone is attacking us! Look at what’s here!"
His eyes immediately focused on what Julian was pointing at. Rotten fruits and vegetables littered their yard. He looked very shocked when he saw all of that. Not to mention the pungent smell.
"Who did all this? They threw these things at our place?"
Arcane shook his head, he didn’t know who did all this and why they were being targeted. Because all of this looked like they had been targeted by someone’s hatred.
"We can’t know because it seems like it wasn’t just one person who did it. For now, it’s better if we just clean everything up. If this continues, we’ll try to report it to the police or install CCTV cameras in the yard," replied Arcane.
Following his words, the two of them cleaned the yard, including the terrace, which was covered in rotten eggs. Although they felt that all this was a bit excessive, it could be the work of someone who was targeting them.
At first, they tried to think that this was just a normal act of terror that would eventually disappear, like when Freya Julian rang the doorbell.
However, it turned out that after a few days, the problem was not solved. In fact, it got worse.
One night, a few days after the rotten fruit was thrown, suddenly something was thrown with such force onto their terrace.
THUD!
The sound was so loud that it startled the two of them, who were watching television at the time.
"What was that?" asked Julian, curious and skeptical.
His husband didn’t know what the sound was, but he was sure it came from the front door. He stood up from where he was sitting and tried to go check the front door.
"You stay here, I’ll check the front door."
He grabbed an umbrella near the front door of their house as a weapon, just in case. And when Arcane opened the door, there was indeed no one there, but there was a piece of paper wrapped around a rock inside.
Feeling curious, Julian followed him to the front and saw a pile of paper wrapped around a fairly large rock.
"So someone threw this in front of our house?"
"Didn’t I tell you to wait inside?"
"And leave my husband in danger alone? My curiosity is much higher than my will to survive," replied Julian, making Arcane roll his eyes.
When Julian opened the paper, it turned out to be a mocking note about Arcane being a man who abused his own students.
YOU SHAMELESS BASTARD!
YOU R*PIST SHOULD JUST DIE!
YOU DON’T DESERVE TO LIVE!
DIE, DIE, DIE!
I WILL CURSE YOU TO ROT IN HELL!
All the writing was in red ink, intended to frighten them. It was as if they were cursing Arcane to die immediately because he was unworthy of life.
"What the hell is this? Arcane would never do such a thing!" Julian shouted angrily as he watched several people accuse him and saw that the false rumors had spread.
He tore up the paper before Arcane could see what was written on it. He didn’t want the man to read the contents of the paper, even though Arcane had already glanced at it.
"Why did everything turn out so bad? I don’t know how to say it, but..."
"This isn’t your fault!" The green haired man tried to make Arcane feel less guilty about what had happened.
It was clear that it wasn’t his fault. It was the fault of someone who spread false rumors about him.
The next day, the neighbors were in an uproar because the news had been spread in a flyer with Arcane’s photo on it. Some of them felt disgusted with him, but some of them felt that it was fake news.
"A math teacher was caught m*lesting his female student at school. But he got away with it because his father is the principal of the school where he teaches?" said one of their neighbors who read the flyer.
"I’m not sure if he really did it. He always leaves early in the morning dressed neatly and comes home the same way. Could someone who looks so normal really do something this cruel?"
"No one knows. But it’s possible, right? Don’t you remember that there are many psychopaths who look normal and handsome? But in reality, they are hired killers?"
This became a topic of conversation in their neighborhood.
Those who thought the news was a lie were several families who had entrusted their children to Julian. And they were very sure that Arcane was the person described in the paper that someone had spread around.
If it were true, their children would not like the couple when they were entrusted to them. However, every day they always asked about Julian and wanted to play with him again.
"I’m sure this is just slander. How could someone as good as them be slandered like this?" asked Clara, who was also upset and chased away the people who had come from nowhere, throwing away the rotten items.
The woman was even certain that those people weren’t from their neighborhood because she felt unfamiliar with their faces.
She was sure they were hired thugs, deliberately sent to make things worse.
On the other hand, a girl looked very satisfied when she saw the reactions of many people to the news that was currently spreading.
"This is just the beginning. You think I’ll let you go after you humiliated me? Of course not. I’ll make you completely destroy yourself, Romano."
