Chapter 88: Ash’s Drunken Confession

At the Haven Hotel, the place was more crowded with ABOs than expected.

As Adrian, Ash, and Lucien stepped in, the master of ceremony announced, "Young Master Ash has arrived, alongside his fiance, Alpha Lucien, and his brother, Alpha Adrian. Let’s welcome them with cheers!"

They walked down the red carpet under flashing lights and applause.

Adrian muttered under his breath, "I hate it when they call me your brother."

Ash glanced at him. "Then what do you want them to call you?"

Adrian smirked faintly. "Your husband."

Ash chuckled softly.

...

During the party, the hotel buzzled with laughter, music, and the clinking of glasses. As they made their rounds greeting high-ranking officials, Adrian’s father approached them, looking pleased.

He greeted them warmly before turning to Ash resting a hand on his shoulder. "I knew you’d make it," he said with pride. "But I didn’t expect you’d go this far, you’ve broken the national record. I’m proud of you. Tell me, anything you want, an apartment, a car, just say it."

Ash shook his head politely. "It’s okay. There’s no need for that."

But Adrian’s father insisted, "No, I must reward you."

Ash hesitated, unsure what to say.

"I’ll give you time to think about it," Adrian’s father added with a smile. "Once you’ve decided, don’t hesitate to tell me."

Ash nodded.

Then Adrian’s father turned to his son. "Adrian, may I have a moment with you?"

Adrian nodded again, and the two stepped aside to talk privately.

He turned to his father. "What’s the matter?"

His father’s tone grew serious. "Did Ash ever tell you where his mother is?"

After a brief pause, Adrian shook his head. His father’s expression fell, disappointment flickering across his face.

Before he could say more, Lucien’s parents approached with Celeste beside them, all smiling warmly.

They greeted Adrian’s father first, then turned to Adrian.

Lucien’s father chuckled as his gaze drifted toward the crowd where Ash and Lucien were speaking with a group of high-ranking officials. "Leiclair, I didn’t know your stepson was this clever. The more I learn about him, the more he surprises me. I’m really glad my son found someone like him."

Lucien’s mother added cheerfully, "And now that he’s no longer a minor, why can’t they marry soon? I can’t wait to have grandchildren from the both of them."

Adrian’s father laughed softly. "That’s not a bad idea."

Celeste, who had been silent the whole time, smirked. "Maybe they already have a grandchild on the way."

Adrian’s face darkened, anger flashing in his eyes as he glared at her.

Lucien’s mother frowned. "That can’t be true. If there were such good news, they would’ve told us already."

Lucien’s father placed a hand on Adrian’s father’s shoulder, steering the conversation away. "How have you been coping lately?" he asked as they began walking aside together.

Celeste glanced toward the crowd, something catching her attention. "Excuse me, I need to use the bathroom," she said quickly, leaving her mother with Adrian.

...

At the washroom, Ash had just finished relieving himself and moved to the sink to wash his hands.

The door suddenly swung open, and Celeste barged in.

Ash turned, surprised. "What are you doing in the men’s washroom?"

Celeste smirked, folding her arms as she stepped closer. "I can be anywhere I want."

Ash reached for a paper towel, wiping his wet hands calmly. "Alright then," he said evenly. "Suit yourself."

He tossed the tissue into the bin and started to walk out, but Celeste blocked his path.

"How does it feel?" she asked, her tone sharp. "Being the center of everyone’s attention?"

Ash frowned slightly. "I don’t get you. If you’re talking about the party, it’s just a celebration. Nothing more."

Celeste let out a short, amused laugh. "I’m not talking about the party. I’m talking about you kissing Adrian."

Ash sighed softly, showing no sign of surprise. "How did you know?"

"It doesn’t matter," she snapped. "Just answer me."

Ash met her gaze steadily. "It was just a brotherly kiss. That’s all."

Celeste stared at him in disbelief. "I don’t buy that. You’re not even his blood brother. I know your kind, you could easily try to take advantage of him. I’m warning you..."

Before she could finish, Ash cut in sharply, his voice low. "What are you going to do, huh? The same thing you did to my friend?"

Celeste’s eyes widened, surprise flashing across her face. She swallowed hard. "What did I do?"

Ash’s voice was calm and sharp. "You know exactly what you did."

He tried to move past her, but she blocked his way again.

The door suddenly opened, and Lucien stepped in, his eyes flicking between them. "What’s going on here?"

Ash turned slightly. "Your sister doesn’t want me to leave."

Lucien frowned. "Why?"

Ash folded his arms. "She’s curious about what I know, what she did to my friend."

Lucien let out a slow sigh. "Oh, if that’s the case..." He reached into his pocket, pulling out his phone. Unlocking it, he opened the video of the driver’s confession and showed it to Celeste. "Then maybe you should see this."

Celeste’s eyes went wide. "Where did you get that?" she hissed, lunging at him.

Lucien tried to pull back, but in the struggle, the phone slipped from his hand-clattering once before sliding straight into the washroom drain.

Both of them froze.

Lucien stared at the hole, panic flashing across his face. "Ash! Bring me the bathroom stick, quick!"

Ash hurriedly looked around, grabbed the cleaning stick from the corner, and handed it to him. Lucien tried fishing the phone out, but the more he pushed, the deeper it sank.

Celeste straightened, a small, satisfied smile curving on her lips. "I think I just ruined you little plan."

Lucien lifted his gaze to her, fury simmering in his eyes. "Not yet," he said coldly. "Just wait."

Celeste brushed her shoulder against his as she walked past him. "I’m waiting," she said with a smirk.

Ash turned to Lucien. "What should we do now?"

Lucien scratched his head frowning. "I don’t know..."

Then an Idea crossed Ash’s mind. "Wait, why don’t we ask the police captain to bring the driver here?"

Lucien’s eyes lit up slightly. "Good idea."

Ash quickly pulled out his phone and handed it to Lucien. Lucien dialed the police station, and after a brief exchange of greetings, he asked to speak with the captain.

A few moments later, his expression changed. The color drained from his face.

Ash watched him closely. "What is it? What did he say?"

Lucien’s voice came out low, shaken. "After we left the station...the driver was shot dead."

Ash froze, disbelief flashing in his eyes. "What?"

Lucien’s gaze darkened. "It could only be Celeste. No one else had a reason." He turned toward the washroom drain, his jaw tightening. "Until I get that phone back, I can’t prove her guilt. Without it, no one will believe us."

He sighed, rubbing his temples. "I’ll call a plumber after the party’s over. I don’t want to cause a scene right now."

Ash nodded silently, his face heavy with worry.

Lucien straightened, taking a deep breath. "Let’s go...before Adrian starts looking for us."

They returned to the party. Ash’s eyes lit up when he spotted Martin and Clara across the hall. He walked over quickly, greeting them with a relieved smile. They began chatting while Lucien excused himself to mingle elsewhere.

For a moment, everything felt lighter, until Ash caught sight of Adrian. He was walking beside Celeste, her hand looped around his arm as they moved through the crowd, smiling for the guests.

A dull ache settled in Ash’s chest. When Adrian’s eyes found him, Ash quickly looked away, pretending to focus on the drink in his hand.

Irritation simmered beneath his calm expression. Now the party truly begins ,he muttered under his breath, snatching a glass of wine from a passing waiter. He downed it one gulp- then another, and another.

Martin leaned closer, whispering, "Ash, take it easy...you’re pregnant."

But Ash didn’t stop. His thoughts were too loud, the wine too quick to dull them.

...

Across the room, Adrian walked stiffly beside Celeste. His eyes scanning the crowd.

"You better behave," Celeste murmured, her tone sweet but edged with warning.

Adrian leaned slightly toward her, voice low. "I’m only doing this for my father. You disgust me, Celeste."

She gave a thin smile. "I know. But it’s better if you accept it, we’ll never break apart."

Adrian clenched his jaw, muttering, "Wait and see."

Pulling out his phone, he typed a message to Ash: Why did you look at me like that? Did I do something wrong?

He waited, but no reply came. Impatient grew. After a long pause, Adrian slipped away from Celeste, determination in his stride, and began searching through the crowd for Ash.

As Adrian pushed through the crowd, Ash’s voice suddenly rang out through the speakers-raw and uneven.

"You asked me why I’m angry," his voice trembled slightly, echoing through the room. "Do you really want to know?"

Adrian stopped in his tracks. His heart pounded as he turned toward the sound.

Ash stood near the stage, gripping microphone with both hands. His face was flushed, his eyes glossy from the wine. He gave a shaky laugh that didn’t sound happy at all.

"It’s because I can’t stand seeing you walking beside her," he said, his voice breaking at the edges. "Every time you are with her, it feels like something’s twisting inside me."

The crowd had gone completely silent.

Ash’s lips trembled as he added quietly, "Don’t I have the right to feel jealous, as your mate?"
