[BL]The Hero and his Party Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 108: Ch : Tea Party - Part 2
’They did not introduce Lady Sera’s son as a prince, but a guest. That means that the power is very much in Prince Caelis’s court for now. We better be careful with how we approach this topic.’
A lot of nobles suddenly realized this, but their greed made them unable to settle down and select the prince they wanted to sponsor.
They had no idea what would happen in the future, but one thing was for certain—the one who held power and Emperor Kaiden’s attention was Companion Shuu.
So if they wanted to get ahead in life, they needed his help and his favor.
The noble who spoke came to the same conclusion and spoke the words he was sure Companion Shuu would like to hear.
After all, who did not like bad-mouthing their rival?
He kept his head bowed for some time, but once a whole minute passed in silence, he finally dared to look up...and almost wished he had not.
The smile on Companion Shuu’s face was still the same calm one, but there was just...something in his eyes that scared the noble, and he had a sudden feeling that he had made a mistake.
"I don’t think I will ever be able to fill ’Lady Sera’s shoes’ in the way you want me to, since I don’t have as hard a stomach as she has for bullshit. But I am sure Princess Danielle would be more than capable of it. As my ’friend,’ I trust her to look after me, so I am afraid I don’t need any more."
It was a complete smackdown, and the noble suddenly felt his face flushing with humiliation and shame.
His anger was mixed in as well, but it was overtaken by muted horror as he watched Princess Danielle looking at him with her disappointed expression.
"I think you are too tired for this tea party, sir. Why don’t you allow the guards to accompany you home?"
Two guards stepped forward to catch the noble by the arm and drag him out. He did not even protest, now having lost all his courage and motivation.
He had just wanted to make a good impression on Companion Shuu, so he had tried the way he knew would work for sure...except it did not work at all.
"Ah, what a mess. Is anyone else tired enough to head home? If not, then shall we start this tea party?"
Princess Danielle asked with a smile on her face. Everyone else settled down quietly after that, and even Shuu took his seat.
He looked around the room and immediately noticed how people were looking away from him. Their eyes kept drifting toward the kids who were in the garden.
"Ehm, it looks like this tea party is not good enough to keep all of your attention. Then, should we end it early?"
Princess Danielle asked, and everyone immediately turned toward her with panicked expressions on their faces.
"O-Of course not, Princess Danielle. This party is amazing...one of the best I have ever been to. The decoration is good, and the food is excellent as well."
Someone praised in a sincere voice. But Shuu could tell that no one was focused on the food. Most people had not even touched their plates.
"I see. I am happy to hear that. Now, I would like to hear some more news about what is going on. I heard that you had some good news to share with us all, Lady Elysia."
Princess Danielle turned her attention toward the lady sitting in the back.
Her green hair and orange eyes looked very familiar, and her unique colors were the only reason Shuu instantly recognized her.
He tensed immediately, his eyes locked on the flock of green to see what she would do.
"Good news? Ah yes, I do have good news to share, Princess. I am finally getting engaged. Both my father and I think Sir Liam will make a good fiancé for me."
She spoke in a soft voice, and none of her coldness from the day before showed on her face. She looked and felt so different that Shuu had to wonder if this was the same person he had met before.
Unfortunately, there was no other lady with the same name and features as her, so he had to admit that she was the same person.
"You are...engaged to Sir Liam? How wonderful. Are you keeping it a secret?"
Princess Danielle asked with a smile on her face. No one else noticed it, but there was a slight hint of agitation on her face once she heard this news.
As the queen of high society, any news like this was brought to her first, and she was the one who controlled it. But this time, she had heard something unexpected that no one had informed her about, and that did not sit right with her.
"A secret? Our engagement is not a secret. I thought you would know. Especially since Companion Shuu saw me with Sir Liam already yesterday. It is when we decided to get engaged."
Princess Danielle suddenly felt at a loss.
She wanted to ask Shuu why he had not told her, but at the same time, she knew his nature well. He simply would not have thought of it as important.
Besides, even if she wanted to be angry or annoyed at Shuu, she could not afford to do that. Family or not, Emperor Kaiden would make her life more miserable than death if she made an enemy out of Shuu.
So she decided to let it go this time.
"Hmm, congratulations on your engagement. But make sure you send me an invite first as soon as the date for your marriage is finalized."
Princess Danielle tried to take control of the situation back, but Elysia was not done just yet.
"Hmm, but shouldn’t I send the first invitation to Companion Shuu? After all, he is the most important person in this place after Emperor Kaiden. So shouldn’t he be the one in charge of all the affairs?"
