[BL]The Hero and his Party Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 120: Ch : Getting Caugth
"Shuu, why here?"
Caelis asked and Shuu suddenly felt himself snap out of the daze he had been in. He felt a little weird and tried to get up and leave after he dropped a few coins for the old lady beggar.
But the lady grabbed his arm before he could straighten himself up and her eyes looked back at him with a sharp look in them.
"You are about to face a trial filled with buried truths and masked lies. Do not fall for them and follow your heart. And don’t forget...it’s all a lie...it’s all built on lies...Ahhhh...."
The old lady clutched her hand as Caelis scratched it.
"Don’t touch Shuu carelessly..."
The kid spoke firmly and Shuu looked down at his arm which had a purple bruise from where he had been grabbed.
’How weird... Was the old lady’s grip really so tight around me? My wrist throbs a little...’
Shuu moved his wrist around but flinched when it throbbed. He had no idea when he had gotten so hurt...and by an old lady nonetheless...
"Shuu, back..."
Caelis reminded him and he nodded before he followed the kid out. He kept looking at the old lady standing behind him and her eyes looked at him with suspicion.
"Remember...what I said..."
She spoke softly before he could no longer see her. But something felt like it had changed and his stomach twisted in a weird way.
Neither Caelis nor Rin said anything as they sat in the carriage and went back near the imperial palace.
Sneaking inside felt impossible so Shuu decided that it was time for him and the kids to take off their disguises.
The guard outside the gate looked surprised to see them outside, but they quickly welcomed them inside and opened the gates. They did not say a word as Shuu went back inside and headed back to his room.
’Is it just me...or is the imperial palace really in a weird mood today?’
Shuu asked as he bit his lip. There was...a weird tension in the air and the servants moved around him with a silent but mocking air around them.
Shuu’s instincts told him that something was going on, so he decided to tuck the tired kids into bed first before he decided to look around for what was happening.
The kids protested but ultimately decided to go to bed.
Once they were in bed, Shuu decided to head to Emperor Kaiden’s office to hear what was happening. If there was anyone who knew what the situation was, it was the emperor.
Loud noises came from the Emperor’s office and Shuu felt his heart skip a beat. He hurried there, but stopped right outside the door.
His instincts were telling him to listen to what was happening rather than barging inside as he pleased.
"-is the diplomatic approach. She’s from the grand duchy. Are you trying to make an enemy out of our nation?"
The speaker was Princess Danielle’s voice and she sounded frustrated.
"I am only being lenient on you because you are my brother’s fiancée. Had it been anyone else, their head would have already rolled on the ground by now. Now head back and tell your father I have no need for his generosity."
Emperor Kaiden sounded cold and frustrated.
"Do you really think it is something we can ignore? You are the hero and the revelation-"
"Is meaningless. I can still feel my bond to Shuu, and since it has not broken, I see no reason to believe this prophecy. Now get out before I make you."
Kaiden’s voice sounded close to snapping but Shuu was more surprised by Princess Danielle’s frustrated voice.
"Ugh, fine-! Shall we go and see what Shuu thinks-"
"Keep him out of it."
Emperor Kaiden firmly told the Princess but she was not willing to listen. She opened the door, only to see Shuu standing there, getting ready to knock.
"Shuu...you-"
"Great timing, Companion Shuu. Please come inside. I think there are a few things we need to discuss."
Princess Danielle cut Emperor Kaiden off. She was risking her life here, but it did not seem like she had any regrets for it.
Shuu walked inside the room carefully before he looked around the office.
"So, what is going on here?"
He asked and the emperor instantly tried to change the topic.
"Nothing is going on. You don’t have to worry about it-"
"Emperor Kaiden, you should stop trying to hide things from Shuu. Especially since it has come to this. My father will send that lady here with or without your agreement. So Shuu should know what he’s dealing with."
She told the emperor and he rubbed his forehead.
Whatever was going on here did not feel good. Shuu had a feeling that the smart thing to do would be to divert his eyes.
But he decided to stop running away and asked the Emperor outright.
"Kaiden, what is going on?"
He asked and the Emperor sighed. Now that Shuu had asked outright, he knew there was no point in trying to hide things from him.
"There is a new prophecy-"
"There is a change in Emperor Kaiden’s fate. According to it, a new companion has been chosen for him and you are being asked to dedicate your life to the goddess to repent for your sins."
Princess Danielle cut off Emperor Kaiden. She knew that this was her only chance to do this, so she took it.
Shuu blinked at the news and his heart felt like it was breaking. Tears stung his eyes, but weirdly enough, they did not fall.
He felt numb by the seconds and he felt his brain shutting down as he felt his brain shutting down at this news.
"Tsk, this is all bullshit. Our mark is still engraved on you and we have a son together. There is no way I am going to give it all up for anything else. Whatever games the goddess wants to play, I am not participating in it."
Emperor Kaiden promised.
Unfortunately for him, things did not want to go his way and a guard entered the room with a terrified expression.
"E-Emperor...Lady Conner is here...She says she...needs to see you...since she’s your companion..."
