[BL]The Hero and his Party Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 166: Ch : Charm the Kids - Part 2
"Are you going to confess to your wrongdoings, Lady Elysia?"
The guard asked the captured lady lying on the bed in front of him.
Her position was one to be envied by the guard and the other inmates. Her crime was attempting to harm members of the imperial family, and most people would have lost their lives on the first day.
But due to her unique condition and the Goddess’s favor, she was not only alive but was also given one of the best rooms in the prison building. She was provided with three meals a day and allowed all kinds of luxuries.
It would not be wrong to say that Lady Elysia’s life was still better than that of most commoners and lower-class nobles.
And yet, instead of being thankful for all this, she continued to cause trouble not only for herself but for the guards as well.
They were trying to be understanding toward her, but it was too hard to do so at this point.
Sigh
"I will leave your food here, Lady Elysia. Please have some, or you will collapse once more."
The guard told her, but the lady did not move. He was about to leave her alone before the shift change when the door suddenly opened and his colleague entered.
But he was not alone. There was a familiar face behind him that made the guard tense.
"Baron Conner? Your visit was not scheduled today. Do you have a reason to be here?"
The guard asked as he looked at the Baron with a suspicious look in his eyes. But the Baron just scoffed and looked back at the guard with disdain.
"Is it truly that shocking that I came to visit my one and only daughter? I missed her, so I decided to stop by. Do you have a problem?"
The Baron asked, and the guard felt suddenly taken aback by his words. He quickly opened his mouth to speak, but no words escaped him.
"I... that is... no-! But still-!"
The guard felt speechless, not knowing what to do next.
It was the guard’s duty to make sure nothing happened in the prison, and the current situation felt like something was about to happen. But as a lowly soldier, was there truly anything he could do about it?
In the end, the guard chose to save his own life and step back.
"Please keep your meeting brief. We will give you both some privacy now."
The other guard who brought the Baron here spoke softly, and he dragged the other guard outside as well.
Once they were alone, the Baron turned to look at his daughter with a worried expression on his face.
"Oh my dear-! Look at you...! You have gotten so thin and fragile...! Are these people even feeding you properly?"
He asked, and Lady Elysia finally turned around to look at him. Her eyes looked desperate but calm at the same time.
"Father, did you do as God intended?"
She asked in a low voice, and the Baron nodded.
"Of course. I never understood why you worshipped your god with such ferocity, but I finally understood it all when I visited you last time. And I only have you to thank for it."
The Baron told Elysia, and for the first time, she gave her father a genuine smile. Her smile was so bright that the Baron felt his heart melting.
"Don’t worry, my dear. I have finally seen the light as well, and I promise you that I will free you from this prison soon and restore you to your rightful place."
The Baron told her, and Elysia nodded.
"I trust you, Father. I hope you won’t trample all over my trust and back out at the last second."
The Baron gave her a smile filled with love and reassurance.
"Don’t worry. I won’t back down. Just go to sleep now and don’t think about anything else."
Elysia let out a small smile, and after a long time, she allowed her body to relax. The Baron left soon after, but he made sure to be extra careful of his surroundings as he walked out.

The day was bright outside, and Shuu relaxed in the garden as he watched the kids playing from the sidelines.
He had no intention of joining the kids just yet, but he did think about it a few times as he watched them chasing each other.
For the first time in a long while, Shuu actually felt like he was having some fun... so of course, it did not take long for things to turn sour.
Shuu immediately noticed Princess Danielle and Lady Canarie as soon as they entered the garden with their dozen or so maids.
He stood up to greet them, but before he could say anything, Lady Canarie rushed toward the kids and tried to get their attention.
"Hello, you two. Did you miss me? I know that I missed you a lot. Would you like to have some fun with me?"
Lady Canarie’s voice was soft, and she was gentle with the kids as well. And yet, the children did not seem to like her.
Instead of staying by her side, they quickly ran toward Shuu and hid behind him. That soured Lady Canarie’s mood, but she quickly covered it up and turned to give Shuu a smile instead.
"Oh my-! You were here as well, Shuu? I almost did not see you. I hope you do not get the wrong idea and think that I was ignoring you or anything."
Lady Canarie’s voice sounded sad enough for someone to believe her. But Shuu did not feel the same way she did.
In fact, he would have preferred if she had continued to ignore both him and the kids while she was here.
"I see... but I don’t think my kids are too fond of you. So would you mind backing off and not scaring them anymore?"
Shuu asked in a calm voice, but Lady Canarie’s face immediately went red at his words. She opened her mouth to speak, but immediately closed it the next second and gave Shuu an almost annoyed look.
