Caelis had completely dropped his mask of being a young child. Now, the only thing that looked childish about him was his body.

But from the way he spoke to the look in his eyes...no one would ever question whether he was an adult or not based on it.

Those same intelligent eyes looked at the Emperor beside him with a questioning expression. But Kaiden did not reply to him at first.

However, after a few seconds, the emperor did decide to give Caelis an answer.

"It was...not hard to interpret that something had gone wrong. Otherwise, the goddess would have sent a sign of her victory already and tried to destroy this place. But this place is not only standing, but people are conscious as well."

Kaiden had been able to guess what the goddess would do based on her past behaviour. That was what made him dangerous as an opponent.

Just because he had been busy playing house and living a calm life with Shuu did not mean his instincts for war had dulled. In fact, now that Shuu was no longer here to hold Kaiden back, he felt like his old self again.

The self that knew nothing but how to fight and break others.

"Still, aren’t you too confident about your odds this time? The goddess could try and stab us any second-"

"So what if she does? I will take that chance if it means that I get to see Shuu again. Won’t you take that chance as well?"

Caelis remained quiet at Kaiden’s question.

Truth be told, he would also take that chance if it was offered to him. That was how dedicated he was to Shuu.

Nothing else mattered to him at this moment.

"Well, since the goddess has prepared this opportunity for us, we would be fools not to take it. Let’s wait and see what else she has in store for us."

"Hey, quit stalling for time and start walking. Or do you want me to break your other leg as well?"

Shuu took in a deep breath as sudden stabs of pain assaulted him from all sides. He could tell that one of his legs was broken and it was hard for him to even stand.

But he still did as he was told and endured the pain. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Rin was still unconscious so it was even more difficult for Shuu to hold him still and slowly walk toward the anonymous person who came to get him.

But unfortunately, he was not even allowed to walk properly before he felt someone grabbing Rin from his arms and then tugging at his hair.

Sharp blades of pain assaulted his head and Shuu’s body threatened to collapse.

"Tsk, this bitch is supposed to be the ’high-value’ product? He cannot even stand on his own. He is not going to survive for long. Maybe I should have a taste-"

Shuu was only able to half pay attention to what was going on. And that was why his body jolted in pain as he was suddenly let go of and collapsed.

The man who had been holding Shuu captive let out a groan of pain and yelled.

"What was that for? Don’t you know that it hurts to be hit like this-"

"You will get hit even harder if you damage the product. You are not even an esper, so how would a guide react to you? Anyway, we don’t have time and we should not question our boss. If he told us to bring him this brat, then we will bring him to our boss."

’Esper...? Guide...? Boss...? What kind of place did I end up in?’

Shuu had a lot of questions without any way for them to be answered. And his body was also too tired to move properly.

In the end, the person who had tried to make Shuu kneel grabbed his body and threw him over his shoulder like a hay sack.

"Don’t bother protesting, kid. Unless you want me to drop you here and make you walk all the way back with that broken leg of yours. Cooperating with us would be for the best."

The stranger told Shuu and despite Shuu’s anger and annoyance, he calmed himself down and did as he was told.

They quickly headed outside and Shuu noticed that there were a lot of rooms locked tight on his way out.

He could guess what was in those rooms, but thinking about it was not going to help anyone.

"Behave yourself and we won’t have to hurt you and the kid anymore. But if you try to escape again, then it will truly be the end for you. Do you understand, kid?"

The stranger asked as he grabbed Shuu’s face and tugged it up.

Shuu allowed himself to be manhandled and his submission finally pleased the older man enough to leave him alone and start driving.

Shuu and Rin were alone in the back of the truck and Shuu immediately went over to Rin to check up on him.

There was natural light around Shuu that helped him see and he immediately flinched at the bruises and marks on Rin. Thankfully, none of them looked deep enough to leave a lasting impression or become permanent.

’Rin...should be fine. I will ask him about what happened and why he is here once he wakes up. For now, I should try and get some rest as well.’

Shuu had a feeling this was going to be a long journey. But he did not want to take such a journey while he was tired.

So he closed his eyes and dozed off against the wall of the vehicle that was trafficking him to someplace.

He only woke up when the door suddenly banged open and the same man from before grinned as he looked at him.

"It’s time to wake up, sweetheart. We are here. Now, make sure to act sweetly for your boss as well, and you might just get to live in luxury. Otherwise, your life might become a living hell soon."
