Chapter 220: Ch 220: Quick Judgement

Everyone had been working on their own thing just seconds ago, but now they all seemed far too interested in Shuu and the older esper.

Shuu noticed how Sasha shook her head in agitation and gave him a look, telling him to somehow get away from the older man. But the esper seemed incapable of taking ’no’ from Shuu.

Thankfully, the last person he expected decided to walk over and save him from this situation.

"Boss, you should leave the kid alone. He’s not only tired, but I am sure I will be better company compared to him. So, what do you say? Should you and I go and have some ’fun’?"

Jenna wrapped her arms around the older esper, and he looked down at her with an almost annoyed expression. He lightly shook his arm as well to make her let go, but Jenna kept her hold tight and pretended she did not notice what the elder was doing.

Finally, her decision paid off, and the elder allowed her to do whatever she wanted with his arm.

"Fine. Let’s go and have some fun. It has been some time since I last relieved myself, so it will be better to do it with a more experienced person. As for you, kid, you better prepare yourself for next time. I want to see what a cute thing like you has to offer."

Boss Honda’s leering eyes made Shuu tense, and he barely held himself back from attacking the man.

Sasha also helped by securely placing herself between the esper and Shuu so that their direct line of sight was broken.

"Jenna, you better take care of our boss well. Who knows when a dungeon break could occur and the government can call for our group at any second. Make sure he is ready to head out."

Sasha spoke like a leader, but she did not look at Jenna when she told her to do her duties. And Jenna did not sound or look disappointed by this.

"Hmm, you don’t have to tell me that. I know what master wants better than any of you. So I will also make sure he gets all the rest and recovery he could hope for in this world."

Jenna promised, but Boss Honda soon got annoyed by her constant talking, and he grabbed hold of her waist to guide her out of the room.

"Tsk, you all are taking too long to talk. I am starting to feel the aftereffects of my abilities. We better get going before I explode."

Boss Honda was not generally snappy. So whenever he got snappy, it was time for the guides to take care of him, and the current situation was no different.

Jenna dragged the man outside, and Sasha turned toward Shuu with an almost apologetic look on her face.

"I am sorry that you have to deal with all this, kid. But it would truly be better for you if you give in. We are all low-ranked guides dealing with an A-class esper. Even the authorities won’t protect us if it means making an enemy out of an A-class."

Sasha had an almost bitter tone to her words when she spoke.

Shuu was certain that there was a story behind the way she was acting and the words she spoke. But he did not want to get attached to her and decided not to ask her about it.

Instead, he steered the conversation back to food and how to get it.

"Can we get some food now? I have a feeling Rin is about to wake up any second now, and I would like to be back by his side."

Sasha shook her head at Shuu’s indifference, but she kind of liked that as well.

Most people gave her pitiful looks when she said stuff like this and then tried to make her feel better. But Sasha did not want to feel better. Sometimes, she just wanted to say things because she was in the mood.

"Alright. Follow me. This here is the pantry, and here are the bread and flour..."

Shuu paid only half attention to what Sasha was saying, and he quickly gathered some familiar-looking food to bring back to Rin.

Sasha also took him back to his room to show him the way, but Shuu had a feeling of something being ’wrong’ as soon as he approached his room.

The very air around his room seemed to have changed and become heavy. And he was not the only one who noticed this.

"What is going on here? I-Is this some kind of attack? M-My guiding... it’s flowing out. This is not good. We need to get away from here, or else we will die..."

Sasha complained as she grabbed Shuu and tried to tug him away. But Shuu felt like his feet were dug into place, and he could only look at his door without saying anything.

His instincts told him that the reason behind this heavy feeling in the air was Rin, and Shuu needed to get back to Rin’s side to help calm him down.

So that was why he took one step toward his room and then another until he steadily started to walk toward it. The air was thick, but it did not feel repulsive. That made it easy for Shuu to keep walking.

"H-Hey, wait-! It’s dangerous..."

Sasha kept yelling at Shuu, and she even tried to follow him, only to collapse and not be able to breathe for a whole minute.

Shuu waited for her to catch her breath, but the door was also calling his name and forcing him to move.

But Sasha collapsed behind him, and she reached out to grab his leg to warn him not to do anything foolish.

"T-This is an esper attack... you will... die... since you are... not strong enough... to control it... Run... away and call... for help..."

Sasha was probably finding it hard to breathe under such pressure, and Shuu immediately felt the need to help her out. He took a step toward her, and the air behind him became even heavier, causing Shuu to reconsider what he needed to do.
