Shuu’s body hurt when he opened his eyes the next time. Not only did his bottom feel alienated, but his neck also felt like it was on fire.

He tried to move, but a pair of arms held him in place, not allowing him to move even a single inch. And when he tried to push those arms away, they tightened even more.

Shuu tried to struggle, but every time he did that, he was pulled back even closer against the chest behind his back, and when he tried to elbow Prince Kaiden to get some space, the mouth on his neck started to nibble and leave small bite marks on the already marked skin.

"Prince Kaiden, please stop-!"

Shuu complained as soon as he realized that the crown prince was awake and just playing with him at this point. He tried to break the hold on him, but Prince Kaiden still did not let go.

"Can you let me go? I need to go to the bathroom-"

"Let you go? How can you ask me to let you go, honey? Do you want to see me lose my mind even more?"

Prince Kaiden asked, and Shuu had a sudden feeling he had said something he was not supposed to. The playfulness had drained from the air, and instead, a tense feeling had taken its place.

Shuu’s instincts told him to clarify the situation before it could get any worse, and he immediately turned around toward Prince Kaiden and opened his arms.

"I am not going anywhere. If you want to be sure of this, then you can accompany me to the bathroom. Will that make you feel better?"

Prince Kaiden quickly burrowed himself into Shuu’s embrace, but he had a wild look in his eyes when he did so.

"Alright, I will accompany you everywhere. You will not be able to get away from me anyway, so don’t even bother trying."

Prince Kaiden’s words sounded like a promise to Shuu. He involuntarily shivered as soon as he heard the crown prince speak these words.

Somehow, he had a feeling that he was slamming an axe on his own foot by doing this. But at this point, he had no idea what else to do.

"I understand. Now, would you please allow me to go to the bathroom before we have an accident here?" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

He asked, only for Prince Kaiden to not let go. If anything, the crown prince tightened his arms around Shuu, and his mouth went back to Shuu’s shoulder.

"I won’t mind you having an accident here. Maybe we can-"

"No-! Prince Kaiden, be reasonable here. We need to freshen up, and I also need to check on Caelis. I cannot spend any more time in bed."

Shuu warned, and Prince Kaiden finally let him go with a sulky look on his face.

"Fine, I will let you go now. But both you and Caelis will spend the rest of the day in my office... no, the next few days in front of my eyes. I am not letting you out of my sight."

Prince Kaiden was asking for a promise, and Shuu knew he was making a mistake here. But he chose to give Prince Kaiden what he was asking for.

"Ok. This is an agreement."

Finally, after so much debating and deliberation, Prince Kaiden let Shuu go with a pout on his face.

Shuu felt his heart easing up once he was able to move as he wanted. The first thing he did after changing his clothes and taking a bath was checking up on Caelis.

Now that he could think more clearly, his son had returned as his first priority.

"Companion Shuu, there was no need to worry. I made sure your son was well-fed and well taken care of. But I do think he missed you a lot. He only settled down once you entered the room."

Princess Danielle had a relieved expression on her face as soon as she saw Shuu.

She held Caelis in her arms, but the small child struggled to get out of her hold and stretched toward Shuu.

Caelis was too young to know what was happening, but he seemed to have an instinct to be with his mother.

"Tsk, grabby brat. I have a feeling he will take you away from me... ouch, what was that for?"

Shuu stepped on top of Prince Kaiden’s foot as soon as he heard him complain. The crown prince also pretended to be hurt by that attack. But in reality, both sides knew that Prince Kaiden was just faking his injury.

"Stop trying to compete with a kid here. Caelis obviously needs me more than you do."

Shuu reminded Prince Kaiden, and the crown prince just sighed and placed his head on Shuu’s shoulder from behind.

He looked at his son, who looked back at him with an almost knowing look on his face. Just that look of challenge was enough to tell him that this kid was going to try and monopolize his honey.

"Anyway, should we head out for breakfast? It has been some time since we last got to eat something. And I recall it being your fault, Prince Kaiden."

Princess Danielle teased her future brother-in-law. The air around him had become much softer, making it easier for others to interact with the crown prince.

"This is not fair. Why is everyone ganging up on me like this? What did I even do-?"

He complained, but the easy-going smile on his face told everyone that he was in a good mood today.

Things pretty much returned to normal after this, but there was also another tension around the imperial palace, and it was due to the vacuum of power left behind by Lady Sera’s death.

Those who had served her until now suddenly found themselves in hot water, and they quickly tried to find other sponsors for themselves. But the news of what had happened had already spread everywhere.

Shuu was aware of this struggle as well, but he pretended to turn a blind eye to all of this. But there was one thing he was not able to look away from-Lady Sera’s son, whom she claimed belonged to the crown prince.

Unfortunately, Shuu only recalled about his existence after a year and even that was because of a mistake.
