Chapter 95: Legendary Legacies

"Haah... Haah!"

Fang Raon kept doing the parrying motions with the wooden training sword.

His hands were bleeding. The hilt of the wooden sword was slippery with his blood.

In that moment, a notification window appeared before his eyes.

[+1 Basic Parry Mastery]

[Basic Parry Lv. 2 → Lvl. 3]

"Huff..."

He immediately dropped the sword to the ground and gathered his breath.

It took him all day, but he was finally level three in both Basic Slash and Basic Parry.

They were the first skills that he had managed to get to level 3, but in the end, they were only basic Tier I skills.

It was easier to level them up compared to Tier II, etc., skills.

"Are you done?"

In that moment, Rock stepped outside and asked.

The other students had ended their training two hours ago and had gone off to do their own things.

Machary was hanging out with the Fourth-Liners to get to know them better over in the common room and had befriended them all already.

"Y-Yes... I’ve reached level 3 in Basic Slash and Basic Parry."

Fang Raon said while struggling to speak.

"That’s good—have you acquired other skills since I left the 6th floor?"

Rock asked.

"...Two new skills. I got the Throwing Sword skill, and then I have Aurel’s Blade Dance."

Fang Raon said.

"...Aurel’s Blade Dance? That is a named technique. I don’t really know who that legendary figure is, but he must be a minor one."

Rock rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

"The named techniques are usually very powerful techniques, so what Tier is yours?"

"Only Tier III."

Fang Raon said.

"...Yep, Aurel is probably a minor legendary figure. Every legendary figure of the tower usually has a collection of named techniques, and you happened to acquire one of the weaker skills, I guess.

"In the tower, there are things called ’Legendary Legacies,’ where you can inherit the legacy of one of the legendary tower people.

"By inheriting those legacies, you can gain incredible powers and abilities that far surpass any normal techniques."

Rock said.

"...That means Aurel’s Blade Dance is part of Aurel’s Legacy. What happens if the player with Aurel’s Legacy comes looking for this technique?"

Fang Raon asked curiously.

"Since you’re capable of using this technique, it means that no one has inherited Aurel’s Legacy just yet. No one has found it, I suppose."

Rock said.

’...Maybe that’s why that guy sold this to me. If someone finds Aurel’s Legacy, I can no longer use this technique? Damn...’

Fang Raon clicked his tongue.

It looked like he got played after all.

"If you want to become a powerful figure in the tower one day, Legendary Legacies is your best bet. Everyone who has inherited the legacy has become a force to be reckoned with in the tower."

Rock said.

"...Wait a moment."

In that moment, something surfaced into Fang Raon’s mind, and his eyes rounded up in shock, and then he said.

"I think I’ve met Legacy Player already!"

"You have? They are very rare, you know. They rarely appear on lower floors, as they are busy climbing floors."

Rock said with some skepticism.

"I came here with a party. One of the party member’s names was Ragnar. I think he is a Legacy Player."

Fang Raon said.

"Why do you think so?"

Rock asked curiously.

"First of all, he is extremely strong for someone with such a low level. He also had two named skills—Ivar’s Massacre and Hand of the Ivar’s Ghost."

"Two named skills? And both are of the same legacy? Yeah, it is very unlikely that he would just happen to be that lucky.

"That must be of Ivar the Slaughterer’s legacy. A very scary guy. While I don’t know of Aurel, I know Ivar, as he was an important figure on the higher floors.

"Ivar was the Viking King of the 41st floor—one of the three rulers of the sea—and he was the King of the Vikingland.

"He liked hunting down players, taking their treasures, and he even liked taking a couple of players as prisoners of his.

"To toy with them... To torture them for his own amusement... The players who got captured, of course, stopped playing the game because of their experience with Ivar.

"In the end, Ivar’s greed knew no bounds, and they fucked with the wrong people. Ivar and his kingdom fell, and he lost his life.

"Legacies only appear if the legendary figure dies, and that’s how this Ragnar fellow got his hands on that legacy."

Rock said.

Fang Raon listened intensely, fully engrossed in the story being told, and thought about how Ragnar looked.

’...He looks a lot like a Viking.’

"Does the legacy also change a person’s appearance?"

"...It indeed does. I also noticed that Ragnar fellow, and honestly, he does resemble Ivar quite closely."

Rock said.

"Does the legacy change a person’s personality as well? Is Ragnar actually some kind of murderous psychopath?"

Fang Raon asked curiously.

If that was the case, he would have to go help Poppy and Abigail immediately. They wouldn’t know that they were with a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

"No, that does not happen. I know a person that got a serial killer’s legacy, but she herself is just the sweetest person I’ve met.

"It is just the appearance that changes."

Rock said.

"Whew, ok."

Fang Raon let out a sigh of relief, as he got worried for a moment there.

"Enough of the talk. It’s getting late. You should get some rest for tomorrow; as for the remainder of the week, it’s all about attributes training."

Rock said.

"...Attributes training?"

Fang Raon asked.

"Yeah. Your attributes are still low, and improving them is the fastest way for you to level up. I don’t think leveling up your skills is worth it anymore.

"Aurel’s Blade Dance can be your trump card, and if so, that skill needs to be leveled up for it to be stronger, but before that, I need to study a little bit to know how we are supposed to increase its mastery.

"It’s not a normal technique that is easy to train."

Rock said.

"Alright, see you tomorrow."

With that, Fang Raon pulled open the interface and pressed the log-out button to disappear from the tower for the night.
