Chapter 466: Get Out

Sei felt a rush of wind blow past her as the crack of a gun filled the air. Her vision suddenly went black, and for a moment, she thought she had been shot.

However, her body felt far too warm to be nearing death. And her face was embedded in something quite soft.

"I think that’s about enough adventure for the day, don’t you think?"

Sei felt a soft hand land on her waist as an even softer voice tickled her ear.

Looking up, she found Bianca staring down at her with that trademark loving look.

"The kids aren’t going to believe it when I tell them how cool their mom was. Get ready for a lot of praise later."

Sei felt her heart swell. Mere moments ago, she was full of things to say, but as she was now, she couldn’t string together a single syllable.

"Down! P-Put me down!!!"

Sei turned her head and found that her husband was also present. Though he was much less calm than his usual self.

And he was much more... feathery.

Malachi was a giant Impundulu. His raven black feathers crackled with magenta colored lightning.

Four sets of wings flapped behind his back as he held a single man within the grasp of one of his mighty talons.

Sei saw a gun fall out of the man’s hand as Malachi tightened his grip on his body.

She didn’t know how long the man had been in Mal’s grasp, but she did know that adults generally didn’t make sounds as he did, so she figured that he didn’t have much time left.

"H-Honey, I’m fine. You can put him down now..."

There was a chance that Malachi didn’t actually hear anything Sei said at first. He took so long to put the man down that she actually started to feel a little concerned.

She knew Malachi had killed people before, and it didn’t necessarily bother her.

But Malachi was her charming gentleman. He usually tried his best to keep violent things away from her eyes.

His anger at the attempt on her life was palpable. But Sei thought that fully committing to the deed might mark the start of a darker shift for him.

And the very last thing that Sei wanted was for the man she fell in love with to change.

"...Mal-"

Malachi suddenly hurled the man at Sei, surprising her.

The man flew right past her vision and slammed into an injured Ayuka, who was only just getting to her feet. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

Malachi dropped out of the sky. His giant metallic talons gouged the pavement with a series of alarming crunches.

Sei looked visibly relieved when Mlachi turned back to normal and ran to her.

The embrace was much more desperate than she had expected, but she liked it.

On the precipice of a fierce snowstorm, Sei was the warmest she had ever been in her life.

Sandwiched between a life and a husband who doted over her like she was the most precious thing in the world.

Sei didn’t want to say that she had grown to love herself because of them, but she had begun to look at herself the same way they looked at her.

And for that, she would be forever grateful.

"Y-You Americans... I knew it would be a mistake to let you all in here!"

Just as it seemed like the three were going to kiss and forget about the world around them, they were reminded that the world was not going to simply overlook them.

The Prime Minister kneeled beside his unconscious daughter. Like everyone else, he was shivering desperately from the cold.

If he didn’t get back inside soon, it likely wouldn’t take long at all for the hypothermia to set in.

"Out... Get out of my country! You are no longer welcome here! Your government WILL hear about everything you have done here today!"

Malachi’s inhuman gaze hardened.

For a moment, it seemed as though the Prime Minister nearly lost his nerve, but he seemed to find it quickly enough once his daughter began to stir.

"That’s fine. We were just leaving anyway." Bianca said with a heated smile. "Right, my loves?"

Malachi didn’t say anything. Rather, he kept his eyes on the young, horrified girl who trembled at his gaze.

"I wonder how long you can hold onto it for."

Malachi spread his wings so wide that they cast a twenty-foot shadow.

With a single flap, his wings shot him into the sky while he kept a firm grip around the waists of his wives.

The Prime Minister watched them take off with his fists clenched and his teeth chattering.

He raised his fists to the sky hatefully.

"IF I EVER SEE ANY OF YOU AGAIN, YOU WILL FEEL THE FULL MIGHT OF THE JAPANESE MILITARY! YOU, KENJI, YOUR BRIDES, AND ANYONE FOOLISH ENOUGH TO SIDE WITH YOU! DO YOU HEAR ME!? DO YOU!?"

His words were swept up in the intensified roar of the arriving blizzard; never knowing if they had reached their intended target.

But as the Prime Minister held his head to the sky, he saw a virtual sea of sleeping soldiers and unmoving vehicles plummeting out of the air.

-

Kenji slowly opened his eyes.

His body greeted him with a dull ache numbed by morphine and skin that tingled from healing such grievous injuries in such a short amount of time.

"Uncle isn’t staying inside the lines."

"What? Yes, I am."

"Look there. That is scribble-scrabble."

"That’s just a little bit of an artistic design choice. You wouldn’t get it because you’re still a kid."

"Kids still know bullshit when they hear it."

"What? Bullshit? I’m sorry, my English isn’t good."

"I know."

Kenji slowly sat up despite his body telling him to do the exact opposite.

Sitting at the foot of his bed were two young girls and his son. All of whom noticed he was awake.

"Father!"

""Geandpa K!""

Shiro and Cami scrambled to get to their little feet and hold up sheets of paper in each hand.

Shin was baffled to see the young girls showing off some of the best and most adorable drawings he had ever seen.

"We made these for you! Do you feel better??"
