Blood Awakening: The Strongest Hybrid and His Vampire Bride-Chapter 408: We’re Your Wives For a Reason!
Chapter 408: We’re Your Wives For a Reason!
The flash of guns and ping of bullets hitting the cars echoed as Nikolai threw himself across the car to avoid the rain of bullets, black blood oozed out of his cheek for a few seconds before it healed.
"Tsk..."
He touched his forehead, and heat spread through his fingers as the wounds rapidly repaired themselves. He then grabbed the gun and opened fire once more, sending a barrage of shots towards the advancing vehicles.
With a low rumble, one of the approaching cars flipped. Alaric held a spherical black object, a grenade that he tossed at another car before turning back to focus on firing his magnum.
"Hah, take this!"
The man was incredible with a hand-cannon.
"Sasha, Luna, how are you!?"
Lunaria and Amphitrite knelt in the centre. Thankfully, the jeep’s defences and armour were thick enough to resist most of their bullets, especially where they sat.
"Babe, everything is fine... do you need a hand?" Amphitrite’s eyes glimmered, but when she noticed Nikolai’s fierce gaze, her eyes dilated, and she sat down, understanding how stressed he was.
"I am good!" Sasha yelled, her voice quivering from fear.
With a sigh, he turned back around and aimed once more.
No matter how many shots he fired, the enemy scurried around the cars, and what made things feel strange was the lack of human police or SSS coming to the scene.
"Shit... Alaric, do we have any backup?"
"No."
It was a simple reply and one that made him think...
’This city belongs to the vampires...’
So Nikolai aimed once more, pulling the trigger as a burst of bullets shot outwards towards the men. He couldn’t help but bite his lips because ammunition was limited, and the enemies were numerous.
’What the hell can we do to escape?’
"They’re running out of steam, surround them!"
"Kill the old man, capture the women and young male!"
With a low thunk, a chunk of the car vanished... the rifle held by a tall werewolf was able to penetrate the armour plating with a powerful bullet.
"Ngh..."
Nikolai watched as they stopped attacking, instead opting for containment while holding them in place with their guns at the ready. He could transform and kill most of them, but would it work... In his sight were four cars, three overturned, and at least twenty people with several guns aimed at them... ’Although it won’t kill me, can I endure that much silver?’
He gripped the shotgun in his hands tightly, worried that he would make another mistake.
"No..."

"No..."
"Lunaria, Amphitrite, can you take the bullets from the box and load your revolvers? We need to fight our way out."
The enemies moved closer and closer, their guns aimed toward their van.
"Come out with your hands up! There’s nowhere to go!"
They shouted as they moved to encircle Nikolai and his group, their eyes narrowing slowly, transforming into those of wolves.
Alaric looked back and noticed the shift in his expression. "We cannot escape like this; they will not allow us."
Nikolai growled lowly as he felt the bloodlust rise within him. His arms transformed first, becoming muscular and covered in thick black fur; his nails turned into razor-sharp claws. He shifted completely, his body size increasing until he was massive, the roof barely reaching his chest while he sat with a hunched posture.
"Contact!"
The moment they came close enough, Nikolai dived at them, stepping on the roof and leaping with arms outstretched, claws shimmering with raven light as he slashed through their numbers.
"Die freak!" One of them yelled before being decapitated by Nikolai’s clawed hand.
He landed with a resounding thud, sending a shockwave throughout the area as bullets struck his torso, which didn’t cause much damage, but the amount caused him to falter. "Damn it... Take this!" Nikolai tossed his shotgun to Amphitrite, who poked through the destroyed door, and caught it, almost falling back from the weight.
Alaric watched Nikolai, his eyes shining with a silver light, "Impressive kid."
His magnum shot out like thunder once more, aiming for each of the men who tried to approach Nikolai from behind. The shots rang out like thunder, and the sound of bodies falling to the ground was almost music to the group’s ears.
Click!
"Shit." Alaric cursed the moment his magnum came empty.
He looked down at his weapon and sighed. He had used all his rounds...
"What a fucking mess... Huh?"
Nikolai tore through the enemies, his mind focused on two things: stealing two cars and killing as many gunmen as possible.
The flash of rifles blinded him for a moment.
’Shit!’
He raised his arm, blocking an incoming attack from one side before kicking away another. As he spun around, his foot collided with someone else’s face, sending them flying through the air like a ragdoll with a broken jaw, teeth and blood spraying outwards.
"Nikolai, pull back!" Alaric yelled out, but Nikolai didn’t understand why.
Meanwhile, on the horizon, a fleet of black jeeps approached, maids holding semi-automatic assault rifles while dangling out of the windows.
The leading car was driven by an orange-haired woman, beside her a blonde with red eyes, and in the back seat, three women... a fox, a wolf and a nekomata.
Nikolai turned back and noticed that Lunaria, Sasha and Amphitrite had exited the vehicle.
"Boss, get back here."
Amphitre held her revolver out, aiming at the enemies who held their guns up, with her back to the incoming vehicles... the maids were familiar to him.
"Patriarch!"
"We are here to support the Master!"
Their voices echoed, followed by the thunderous crackle of gunfire... ’Ahh...’ Nikolai felt as if he understood what was happening when they began firing their rifles from atop the cars.
"I am one lucky man..."
He saw Selene with her sharp gaze in the leading car, while Kumiko’s clones squatted on the top and shot into the crowd, one with a rifle, the other with a grenade launcher...
"BOOOM!"
The explosions shook the ground beneath them, sending shockwaves that rattled windows and cars alike. It was as if hell itself had come to Earth, but for some reason... it was nothing but amusing to Nikolai. He understood that telling his wives about what he planned to do had saved his life.
’Even Alexei...’
The tall vampire stood with a pair of pistols, shooting into the group of cars, his bald head shining in the moonlight.
"My dear, you should come here."
"Darling, it’s not safe there."
Selene and Nikita called out to him, neither of them fit for combat, yet when he was in danger, they came. This wasn’t just the Volkov maids; there were members of the Fenrir family on their bikes with metal bats, riding through the wreckage...
"Nagisa?"
The beautiful woman sat on a black motorbike holding a blade in one hand; she looked like a true femme fatale.
"Oh my? Is that your transformation, my dear son-in-law?"
She spoke while swinging her long black hair, her violet eyes glistening as she watched the carnage unfold around her. "I didn’t know you would be this troublesome, but isn’t that what makes you cute! Dimitri, come, let’s wipe these fools out."
A man with sharp features and a white suit rode up beside her, dual AK-47s in both hands on his hip; he looked no more than thirty with greying hair.
But Nikolai felt safe seeing this man, Nikita’s dad... his father-in-law, who went missing for months.
"Yo, Volkov boy, you better go and take care of my little fluff."
The moment the man raised his guns and shot them off into the crowd, the battle became one-sided. Nikolai could only watch as he stood in the middle of the chaos. His wives all behind him in their car, while the maids fired their rifles from afar as his form faded, Nikolai could breathe...
"So this is the power of people... the power of connections?"
"Oi! Big guy, come here!" Nikita leaned out of the car and hugged him tightly.
As he watched the goons of House Everen burning.
He couldn’t stop himself from smiling.
"Thanks for saving my ass, my dear wives."
