Chapter 446: CH446: DEMONSTRATION

[Planet Grania]

[The Wilderness: Gravax’s Warehouses]

The Granian home planet was, and still is, a tranquil civilization filled with hundreds of thousands of structures built for beauty and functionality.

The people of the planet, a feared and violent species, were quite the opposite when it came to their homes and surroundings.

Beautiful landscapes, grandiose pieces of majestic architecture, and peaceful lifestyles contrasted the battle-hardened mindsets these aliens possessed.

Even their Lord’s palace was adorned with every design imaginable, showing how the Granians preferred not to keep reminders of war within their humble abodes.

However....

A portion of the wild, desolate lands of their planet now became a stain on their tranquil living environment.

Holes large enough to house hundreds of thousands were scattered across the land. Pieces of scrap metal, debris, and engineering litter disgraced the once-pristine wilderness.

Around the craters were several warehouse-like structures built to house the thousands of ships that were taken in, dismantled, rebuilt, and sent back out.

Inside the craters, the same process was taking place—but on a much larger scale.

New ships were being constructed, each featuring updated designs to accommodate new technology tailored specifically for each ship’s type.

But what exactly was this new technology?

----------

At the largest warehouse-like structure of them all, Lord Gravax landed the ship and invited the Granian Lord, Granian Ace, Cherry, and Ace himself.

Inside, the warehouse was just as chaotic, disheveled, and dystopian as the exterior.

Thousands of slaves, laborers, soldiers, builders, engineers, technicians, pilots, and other members of the Granian military workforce oiled endlessly on the equipment being prepared for war.

Machines worked alongside traditional laborers, ensuring quality products were produced quickly.

But that wasn’t the most eye-catching sight.

The warehouse was divided into two floors.

The ground floor was where the primary work was carried out, while the underground floor was essentially another massive crater.

At the center of that crater stood a towering mechanism—colossal in scale—with dozens of smaller machines welded, hooked, and plugged into it. The lower half of the structure was made of thick transparent glass, with a thin iron rod standing upright at its center.

Above the rod, several robotic arms hovered and moved with precision as they manipulated tiny black orbs.

Aside from the colossal machine, other workers were tinkering with new designs and models of Granian and Cyclitharan ships, as well as guns, blasters, and various war equipment.

One thing that separated these workers from the rest was their looks. They were all identical to the Granian Lord, Gravax.

’Clones of himself.’ Ace thought. ’Doesn’t trust anyone else apart from himself to do this work. So what exactly are they making?’

"Welcome to Gravax’s new laboratory," Grania announced loudly, drawing the attention of the other Gravax clones going about their work, " while you were unconscious and recovering, our people have been working tirelessly to prepare ourselves and our technology to properly wield our trump card."

Grania’s eyes gleamed with excitement as he pointed toward the massive machine sitting in the middle of the crater.

"This is where our greatest breakthroughs in science and warfare have been made. Behold."

The Granian Lord grabbed one of the newly built blasters and aimed at several unsuspecting clones.

"NO, DON’T SHOO..."

Gravax tried to stop Grania in his tracks, but it was too late. The Granian Lord pulled the trigger and opened fire on the unsuspecting clones.

A glowing black orb–no larger than a ping-pong ball–shot out of the weapon’s barrel and sped directly toward the clones.

Mid-flight, the orb split into several smaller spheres that pierced into their bodies. What happened next was a brutal, gruesome sight.

From within, their bodies began twisting and spiralling violently. Their skin twisted over and over again while dragging muscles and bones along with them until, eventually, the bodies sucked themselves inward into oblivion.

Within seconds, they were gone.

No corpses remained. Only a few drops of blood and loose scales that had been lucky enough to fall free before the implosion.

"Wow!" Ace exclaimed, horrified by the sight.

But how did it work?

"All of this is possible," Gravax explained as he removed one of the black orbs embedded inside the weapon’s framework, "thanks to this."

The orb floated above his hand, pulsating and throbbing irregularly. Its core was darker than the deepest shadows of the crater they stood in, while faint white and blue light glowed along its edges as it seemed to pull surrounding light inward.

"What is that?" Ace asked.

"Black hole technology."

"And this..."

Lord Grania spoke even louder than before as he picked up another weapon—one three times larger than the previous one he carried.

"...is star technology. Watch!"

While Grania pulled the trigger, Gravax quickly stepped back while shielding his eyes and ears. His clones did the same, none wanting to suffer the same fate as their unfortunate comrades.

*CLICK*

The alien gun’s barrel split into three segments and extended outward, curving like claws at their tips.

A whirling, burning sound followed as strands of what looked like blue fire were drawn from the weapon’s internal mechanisms and gathered between the three claw-like prongs.

A miniature sun–yes, an actual sun–formed from the swirling blue flames. Then, it launched forward.

*BAM*

A massive explosion rocked the warehouse, followed by a violent tremor that shook the entire crater.

When the dust and rubble finally settled and everything was calm again, Ace stared at the aftermath in disbelief.

Blasted into the side of the existing crater was another crater—wider and longer, forming what looked like a massive tunnel.

It was astonishing that a blast from a weapon so small as that could produce such devastating results.

And if it could do that to rock, what would it do to an enemy army?

"If you think that’s incredible, wait until I show you what else we’ve been making, human."

Gravax interrupted calmly.

"That will have to wait."

He turned toward Ace.

"First, I must conduct the tests I brought the Blood Mutant here for."
