Blood Nemesis-Chapter 225: Visitors
Just as he expected, after walking for a few minutes, a car came near Oliver and parked next to him. From the front seat of the car, Root stepped out with a smile, waving his hand.
"Where were you?" Oliver asked, walking closer to the car.
"Nearby," Root answered unenthusiastically.
"Hm…"Oliver nodded and opened the back door. "Were you not concerned about my well-being? After all, I fell out of the sky." He inquired with a smile.
Root rolled his eyes.
He didn't, for one second, think Oliver was in critical condition because Oliver was the same person who escaped from the clutches of an S-ranked demon. So, how could he die under the mandibles of some bugs?
"Boss, nice joke." He commented sarcastically and climbed into the car.
The driver immediately stepped on the gas pedal, driving them towards their home.
Oliver looked out the window, watching the pile of blood beetles being cleaned from all sides of the road.
Millions more carcasses were lining the road, waiting to be disposed of.
"Did my parents see me when I fell?" He asked as he thought about the final memory before he lost consciousness.
At that time, he was fighting the blood beetles. His body had momentarily solidified as the golden armour condensed around him.
"And if you have it, I would like to see the video feed of what exactly happened as I fell," Oliver added.
Although Oliver felt the changes in the armour and could deduce what might have happened, he still didn't know how it looked to the people outside. So, he was concerned whether his family had seen him fall.
"Don't worry about that. The Hero Union was kind enough to switch off your video feed. And the nearby drone couldn't approach you because of the beetles. So, your parents have no idea about what happened…Hm…not just your parents…none of them, including me, have any idea…"
Oliver was relieved.
From what Root said, the physical change that happened to him was not caught on camera. That was a good thing.
"What do they think happened to me when I suddenly disappeared?"
"The Hero Union covered up most of it and disseminated the news that you are resting. Um…now that I think about it, they are waiting to interview you. After all, your contribution was significant in defeating the blood beetle swarm."
"An interview…these guys have nothing better to do."
Oliver didn't want to do anything right now. It has been over a day since he properly rested.
Although the wounds on his body were healed, the mental fatigue accumulated was still strangling his mind.
He had no energy left in him to entertain the people and the Hero Union.
"Let them be. Let's go home."
"Yes, boss." Root nodded.
For some reason, Root was being extremely cooperative. And it was a little unsettling.
"How was the exam?"
To change the topic from himself, Oliver asked about the exam.
The Hero Academy written exam was not supposed to be that difficult. For Root, a genius, it should have been easy. Oliver believed Root would certainly pass the exam. But he asked nonetheless.
"It was easy. All of us would pass."
Root was talking about Luna and Leon when he said 'All of us.'
"A week later, the second part of the exam will commence. Are you ready?"
Root promptly replied with a yes.
After that, the inside of the car descended into prolonged silence. Oliver cleared all the distracting thoughts and focused on meditating.
In the past, he would not have bothered to meditate because he didn't know of the benefit it provided while reviving.
Now, knowing that his thoughts were the current in his mindscape, Oliver began to train in meditation, preparing for a day he would have to revive.
He also wanted to know whether he could enter the mindscape at will, without dying.
The only way to do so is by learning to meditate or engaging in a similar practice. Or, that's what Oliver thought.
Like that, time passed.
—
An hour later, Oliver reached his home.
Due to the blood beetle carcass sprawled across the road, they had to take many detours and thus arrived a little later than expected.
After the car stopped near the driveway to his home, Oliver stepped out and waved to Root before walking to his house.
The car behind him carried Root and quickly drove away, most likely to Root's house.
Oliver, bogged down with exhaustion, walked over to the door and pressed on the fingerprint scanner.
Immediately, the door opened with a chime.
"Brother, you are back!"
A person walked from the living room, surprised to notice Oliver standing near the door. It was none other than his brother, Arin.
However, Oliver's eyes glanced over to Arin and focused on the person standing behind him.
Then, a sinister smile formed on his face.
"Yeah, I am back." He said, while staring right into the eyes of the person.
This sent a shiver down the spine of Kim Woojin, standing behind Arin.
"..."
He meekly smiled and immediately took a step back.
Oliver saw this and relaxed.
Kim Woojin remembers the beating he received. He seems to have caused no problem as he visited his home.
There was no need to teach him another lesson.
"Oh! Woojin was visiting!" Oliver transformed his sinister smile into something a little more pleasant and forced out the words.
Despite sweating bullets, Woojin returned an awkward smile and replied.
"Yes."
Oliver placed his shoes near the door and walked in. He wanted to know if someone else was visiting. After all, Woojin does not have the balls to come to the house alone.
As expected, he noticed a few others sitting over to the side, on the sofa in the living room.
Oliver's eyes scanned over them wordlessly and turned to look at his parents sitting nearby. Then he turned to face Arin and asked.
"Are they here to visit?"
Arin awkwardly smiled and nodded.
"Why?"
Arin shrugged his shoulders.
