Chapter 40: part 40 S2: Supernatural

Part 20: Mafia Mayhem & Supernatural Shenanigans

Leo leaned against the balcony of Tensai-kai's hideout, staring down at the city lights. His mind was still reeling from the night's events. Precognition? It sounded ridiculous. But he couldn't deny what had happened on the highway.

Dante, of course, was having the time of his life.

"So, do you think it's like Spider-Man's Spidey Sense or more like Doctor Strange's future vision?" he asked, practically bouncing next to Leo. "Because if it's Spider-Man, that means you should be able to dodge everything. If it's Doctor Strange, well... let's just hope you don't see us all dying in 14 million alternate realities."

Leo shot him a look. "Dante. Shut up."

Hiroshi appeared behind them, arms crossed. "We don't have time for your comic book nonsense. We need to test this power properly."

Dante pointed at Hiroshi. "You see what I mean? You've officially unlocked your training arc, Leo! We need a montage! Get some cool music, some dramatic lighting"

Leo sighed. "Why do I put up with you?"

"Because I'm fabulous," Dante said with a wink.

Hiroshi ignored the chaos and tossed a wooden training sword at Leo. "Catch."

Leo grabbed it instinctively-before Hiroshi had even thrown it.

The three of them stared at the weapon in his hand.

Dante's eyes widened. "Oh-ho-ho! No way."

Leo blinked. "Okay... that was weird."

Hiroshi's gaze darkened. "Your body is reacting before your mind registers it."

Dante gasped. "Wait, wait, wait. Try this-" He suddenly threw a wrench from his pocket straight at Leo's head.

Without thinking, Leo tilted to the side, the wrench barely grazing his ear before clattering to the floor.

"Whoa."

"WHOA."

Leo stared at Dante. "WHY DID YOU HAVE A WRENCH?!"

Dante shrugged. "I dunno, man. Mafia reasons."

Hiroshi pinched the bridge of his nose. "Idiots."

Still, there was no denying it now-Leo's new ability was real. And it was getting stronger.

But before they could test it further, an alert buzzed through the room.

Marco stormed in, his face serious. "We've got a problem. The Kaminari-kai just ambushed one of our warehouses."

Dante groaned. "Dude, can't they chill for like, one night?"

Leo tightened his grip on the wooden sword, his senses already tingling. This was it-the moment to see if his new powers were truly a gift or a curse.

He smirked. "Guess it's time for Baby Mafia's first real test."

Dante beamed. "Yes! Lean into the nickname!"

Hiroshi sighed. "God help us all."
