Chapter 133: Chapter 8: Next Stop, Heavenly King (VIP Chapter 6) _2
"Kampas!" Helen also snapped out of her surprise, grabbing Richard’s arm. "Richard! Do you know that Hobbit Halflings never want to leave their hometown?"
"I don’t want them to leave either!" Richard exploded, "I’ll count to three. If you don’t let go, I’m going to get rough!"
"Lord Richard!" Robert looked at Richard as if he were crazy. "Do you know that not even in the palace of the Bimon Kingdom is there a Hobbit Halfling as the head chef? And you refuse the elder’s kind offer?"
The Mastiff bit the word "actually" with special emphasis.
"Is it that great?" Richard asked half-heartedly, his expression easing quite a bit.
Robert was about to faint. The Wolf Tribe had done so many favors for the Hobbit Halflings, finally getting a few halfling head chefs. But when it came to Richard, he not only refused this pie in the sky but also threatened to get rough.
"Sir, please taste this." The halfling elder carefully unveiled the leather pouch in his hand, revealing a bunch of steaming hot legs that looked a bit like frog legs. The skin was golden and bore an indescribable, tempting, roasted scent mixed with a faint aroma of enticing spices that assaulted Richard’s superhuman olfactory senses.
Poor Richard, ever since he came here, he had only managed to dine in a restaurant once, and that was after being ripped off. His regular diet was all managed by Bellamy from the Mastiff People. Bellamy’s cooking, like his size, was exceptionally crude.
Richard was planning to make small talk, be polite, and then dig in.
But Guoguo, the little critter, was already leaping shamelessly from his head to the arm of the halfling elder, grabbing a frog leg and stuffing it into his mouth. Seeing this, Richard hurriedly grabbed a handful for himself and began to chew furiously.
Guoguo’s eating habits were utterly ugly. It was emulating Richard’s earlier demeanor, chewing with loud "smacking" noises. After being admonished by Ning Yu and Helen a few times, Richard had learned to eat silently, but his pace hadn’t slowed at all.
The Komodo War Behemoth sniffed and followed the smell, intending to get its head closer. Richard quickly turned his bum to block it, swiftly stuffing half of the remaining frog legs into Guoguo’s mouth and the other half into his own, chewing madly with his both hands covering his mouth.
"Delicious!" Richard exclaimed, his mouth full of grease. His greasy hands casually wiped on the elder’s body.
"This is roasted rock frog legs! It’s roasted with walnut wood from the mountains." The elder watched Richard’s eating behavior with satisfaction. He was quite confident.
"Darn you, Richard!" Helen was furious to see her pet being snubbed when it wanted a bite.
"It really is delicious!" Richard sucked his fingers, relishing the taste.
"My lord, the grilled frog legs you just had are among the worst dishes cooked by our halflings. If you want to taste something even better, please allow us to enter your mining village and become your culinary supervisors! We halflings can cook a large variety of food. Even many wild plants unknown to common folk, we can make edible!" The elder pointed at Robert and said, "If you don’t believe me, you can ask Mr. Wolf here."
"The Wolf Tribe’s territory is a vast barren salt field where food is scarce. The only produce there are giant cacti, but the halflings can turn cacti into a delicious dish!" Robert nodded and licked his lips, "Unfortunately, we still have too few halfling head chefs in our army."
"For us halflings, the Donau Wasteland is our kitchen, with inexhaustible ingredients. Beamon and human chefs are really lacking knowledge about raw ingredients usage." The halfling elder proclaimed proudly.
"Is that so..." Richard seemed slightly moved. With these halflings around, they would save a lot of money, especially since feeding his numerous followers was indeed a big problem.
"Do you have any conditions?" Richard asked, taking out the turtle bead. "Do you want me to use this as a bargaining chip?"
"No, not at all!" The honest, simple halfling elder quickly shook his hand, "I just want to negotiate with you, to use the prime liquor that comes from soaking this turtle bead in water. Let us use it to brew for you the most delicious wine in the world!"
"That simple?" Liu Zhenhan found it amusing. It would be foolish not to accept such conditions – so many good cooks, just open a bar and restaurant in Witherspoon, and one could make a fortune.
"The process of creating delicious food is a delightful pleasure..." The Halfling elder squinted as if he were immersed in intoxication.
"...Of course, if allowed, I hope Lord Richard could grant us some original liquor soaked in Turtle Beads." The Halfling elder twirled his beard, looking at Liu somewhat sheepishly.
"No discussion necessary, agreed!" Liu Zhenhan smacked his lips, the aroma of the grilled rock frog’s leg still lingered between his teeth. One wouldn’t know unless they tasted it, and once tasted, it’s incredibly sensational.
"Thank you for your generosity!" The Halfling elder hurriedly loosened the sacrificial robe he had been wearing, carefully smoothing out the creases: "To be on the safe side, I will first send two smart boys to follow you around. Once your trial is over and you receive your fiefdom, we will send other Halflings to serve you in your mining village."
"They should follow my three beloved ones first. I will venture alone into the Southern Cross Star Forest with my Magical Beast; I don’t need company." Liu Zhenhan looked at Helen’s group enviously.
Upon hearing this, Guoguo quickly jumped into Avril’s arms, clutching Avril’s clothes tightly, her big ears swinging vigorously.
"Obischillaci!" Liu Zhenhan cursed rudely. The little thing was too ungrateful; it didn’t want to go with him just because it heard there would be good food and drinks.
"Forget it. I should start my journey. See you." Liu Zhenhan took out the map and glanced at it, then gave instructions, "Don’t let Guoguo eat too much, be careful not to overfeed her!"
After greeting everyone, Liu Zhenhan’s robust silhouette disappeared into the forest beside the mountain depression.
Watching Liu Zhenhan’s retreating figure, Robert couldn’t suppress his feelings anymore. He felt that letting Richard go on an adventure alone was a crime. So he quietly pulled Gude and Bellamy aside and asked, "As followers, why aren’t you brave warriors accompanying your lord into the dangerous Southern Cross Star Forest? It doesn’t align with your noble character!"
"You don’t understand our lord." Gude replied, "Many who have underestimated him have ended up quite unlucky."
"I know he’s tough, but..." The Mastiff People wanted to have a serious talk with the two strong men about the Southern Cross Star Forest.
"Hehe...We don’t need to worry. We would rather be a burden to him. Lord Richard is a Dragon Shaman, you know!" Bellamy said.
"What?" The news hit Robert like a thunderbolt from a Komodo War Behemoth.
"Dragon...Shaman...??" Robert’s lips trembled like a falling leaf in the wind, his face was full of confusion.
Taking advantage of Robert’s stupor, Gude and Bellamy quietly pulled the half-smoked cigar out from his pocket, and they both left with big smiles to divvy up the spoils.
