"Rob, you brute!" Dacey’s exasperated sound woke him up the next morning.
Rob opened his eyes blearily and looked at Dacey’s scrunched-up face near him. Dacey was currently shaking him awake. They both were under the covers and it was clear that she had been trying to wake him up for some time. He could already see that it was way past sunrise from the sunlight filtering in through the blinds.
"Dacey, come here," he said with a small smile earning a smack to his chest.
"Don’t even think about it," Dacey said with a displeased look on her face. "It is already 8, and you need to get to LWC."
Dacey said with a cute frown causing Rob to smile further. Rob reached out and traced her face causing Dacey to let out a displeased snort.
"Rob, you need to get going," Dacey said exasperatedly.
"Come on, I only need to be there by 10. We still got two hours, don’t make a fuss early in the morning," Rob said grabbing her hands and pulling her closer.
"Hmmmph, did you forget that you need to return to your place to change clothes," Dacey said pulling away slightly.
"That..." Rob stopped his sentence as he belatedly realized that was indeed the case. "Tch! You are right!" Rob let out a big sigh.
"Good, now vacate this place and give my bed back to me," Dacey said trying to push Rob away from her.
"You really are heartless," Rob said fighting her. "You are throwing me away after using me."
"Excuse me!" Dacey said raising her eyebrows. "It was you who kept us up till 4 in the morning."
"Hah," Rob snorted. "You are talking as if you didn’t participate."
"You were the one who started things in the kitchen," Dacey shot back trying to dislodge him once more. "You didn’t even leave my kitchen out."
"We have already done it in the hall, bedroom, and kitchen. How about the bathroom? That place is still left. We shouldn’t make it feel left out," Rob said tightening his hold on her hands and pulling her closer.
"Get off me, you insatiable brute!" Dacey said struggling to break away from his grip.
"Come on, we both need to go. How about we shower together?" Rob asked wriggling his eyebrows.
"Hah, if I get in the shower with you, we will be there till afternoon," Dacey snorted. "Moreover, it is you that need to go in. I will be in my comfy bed taking a day off. And after what you did to me last night, I deserve some rest. My ass and legs are so sore!"
"Hey, that’s unfair! I want some rest too. But, you seem keen on kicking me out of the bed," Rob said pulling her closer.
"Well, that’s the perk of being a wrestler compared to a booker. We just need to turn up three days a week. Now, get lost and give me back my bed! You are a terrible bed partner. Not only did you keep me awake all night, you even dared to steal my blankets," Dacey said shoving Rob away.
"Even then, I think we still have some time for morning fun," Rob said kissing her playfully.
"Rob," Dacey said very sweetly causing Rob to look at her in surprise. "If you don’t let me go and get out of this bed in the next minute, I am going to use my legs on your nuts. Only this time, instead of teasing, I will be kicking your nuts."
Rob gulped and moved his body slightly away.
"Dacey, come on," Rob said a little pleadingly.
"No Rob, you need to get to work. Also, you need to coordinate with your stockbroker. If you don’t go now, I doubt you will leave soon. Moreover, I need to rest my body a bit," Dacey said seriously causing Rob to become a little downcast.
"Still, I don’t feel like going to work today," Rob grumbled sitting up.
"Just go," Dacey shoved him and stated. "I am not going to fall for that. My entire body is sore. Get going!"
"Tch! Heartless woman!" Rob snorted getting up.
"Fine, fine, get lost," Dacey grumbled snuggling into her bed and covering herself with the blankets.
Rob looked at her with a small smile and shook his head. He knew Dacey was right. He needed to get going. Moreover, he had indeed gone a little overboard last night.
But, Rob couldn’t fault himself for it. This was his first time in over two years. And, Dacey was absolutely a great partner in sex. What they started in the kitchen, late at night, had started there and ended in bed. Rob had cummed three times in that interval.
Groaning a little, Rob tried to find his clothes. Ten minutes later, he was dressed in one of Dacey’s T-shirts and using his belt to hold his pants together. Such was the intensity of their escapades last night.
He walked back into the bedroom and planted a kiss on Dacey’s forehead causing her to mumble in sleep. He tucked her in and closed the blinds to let her get some much-needed rest and left her house in a hurry.
*****
Rob walked into LWC with a spring in his steps.
By the time he entered LWC, Graham had already informed him that the stocks in his hands have already been transferred to Flower Capital and the money will be credited into his bank account by the end of the day.
Unlike last night, Graham seemed as if he was back to his usual self. But, Rob wasn’t convinced by his act. He knew that Graham was a little dissatisfied with him in regards to coming to terms with Flower Capital without his presence.
Moreover, he also knew that Graham would soon get the news of the additional contract signed. While the details won’t be revealed, Graham would be able to infer things easily. It wasn’t hard for someone like Graham to get this news.
Mr. Walker also called and let him know that the money from the contract settlement has already been credited to his account. By now, Rob was well on his way to being a millionaire at the end of the day.
Rob also realized that many of the issues that have been plaguing him recently seemed to magically become unimportant suddenly due to his acquired wealth. He didn’t fret much about the way his coworkers treated him now.
To him, working in LWC went from a must-have to something he did to enjoy his passion. When his mind’s perspective changed, the way he looked at the problems also changed.
Right now, he hasn’t strapped for money anymore. He can be fired from LWC tomorrow and not be bothered by it. His earlier misgivings seemed foolish worries to him at this moment. Only now did he realize how much that hidden clause in the contract regarding his termination had bothered him deep down.
With the money he had, he can easily establish a low-tier wrestling promotion on his own. This gave him the confidence to roll with the punches that came his way as his livelihood wasn’t threatened anymore. Rob knew that he can stick up for his requirements without any worries now, as the only reason he did the job he was hired to do was to quench his thirst for wrestling and to make his dream come true.
With the sudden change in his mentality, Mr. Wagner and Steven’s actions seemed meaningless. If the LWC didn’t trust him and fired him based on the rumors they both started, he could always go to another promotion to try his craft. Even if that failed, he can create a promotion of his own. Then, he could do whatever he wanted with that.
This caused Rob to relax a bit and his job became more and more enjoyable as the day moved on. The passion he had for booking seemed to be reignited once more as he forgot about all the politics and other distracting stuff and only concentrated on putting out a great story.
So, by the time evening rolled around, he was already done with his work and was going over the details for Wednesday’s show one last time. He knew what he wanted to accomplish this week.
This week he needed to set up a scenario where Evelyn and other women in the locker room get into some differing opinions. Meanwhile, Dacey and Diana’s saga is going to kick up a notch with Diana harassing Dacey further. All in all, it looked to be great content.
Just then a knock sounded in Rob’s office, prompting him to look up from his paperwork and let out a small sigh.
"Come in," Rob said clearing his table and putting things in order.
Alanna, Leia, Evelyn, Joselyn, and Marie walked in a bit nervously wondering what Rob had planned for them this week. Selena had been given an off this week as she was injured as per the storyline.
"Hey girls, come in, take your seat. We have much to discuss," Rob said rising from his seat and gesturing for them to occupy the couch in his room.
"Hey Rob!" Alanna the ever-bubbly one greeted him enthusiastically, causing the others to greet him as well. "I didn’t see Dacey come in today. How are things with her?" Alanna asked waggling her eyebrows causing Rob to blush a little.
But, he refrained from showing any more emotion and gave her a deadpan look and said, "Great, now let’s focus on you lot here. This is not the time for gossip."
Rob’s reply only brightened Alanna as she perked up and looked eager to dig more. However, Evelyn put an end to that by pressing her shoulders and giving her a pointed look in Rob’s direction. Alanna saw Rob’s unamused look and pouted a bit.
"Good," Rob said looking at the others. "This week and next week are the keys to our most important match to elevate this entire division. You all know how important the upcoming PPV match is. And these two weeks will be the ones to set the tone for your match at PPV."
"Evelyn, let me first congratulate you for the great job you did last week. You and Selena did a banger of a match that will become a legend in this company. Especially your tweaking of your character was spot on with what I wanted. You are as hated as Dacey at the moment. However, unlike Dacey’s, the heat on you is very different," Rob said looking at Evelyn.
"The next time you go out there, you are going to get booed. You are going to get yelled at. And the crowd would absolutely loathe you. I hope you are prepared for it," Rob asked looking at Evelyn.
"I am," Evelyn said with a small smile. "I have been reviewing Dacey’s mannerisms and her interactions with the crowd for the past week. I have also talked to her and Diana regarding how to tweak it better."
"Good, that is one of the things I wanted to talk to you about," Rob said nodding. "Don’t worry about the crowd hating you, the more they hate you, the better it is for you and your opponent. So, with the continued growth of the hatred you acquire, your stock will rise as well."
Evelyn nodded understanding that logic. Rob had talked to her about this a lot previously.
"What we are going to do next week is very simple. The crowd now hates you, and we not going to let that momentum go to waste. We are going to capitalize on that and make them hate you further."
Rob said with an evil smirk.
"You will be opening this week’s show. And this time, when the show goes on air, you will be inside the ring with a microphone in your hands. Before even Irvin starts the introduction, we are going to have a cold opening with you addressing the crowd," Rob said with a small smile.
"But, doesn’t that deviate from the existing pattern?" Evelyn asked in confusion.
"Yes, by doing that, your opening will become memorable as well. I want people to be taken aback. I want them to be shocked. And I want them to be irritated with you, by the time you are done with the segment," Rob said smirking.
"You will open the night by talking to the audience. Unlike Dacey, who talks about how she is superior to everyone present, you are going to go a different route."
"What route?" Evelyn asked eagerly causing Rob to explain it to her.
Rob’s idea was really never done before causing goosebumps to raise on Evelyn’s neck. If she did what Rob asked her to do, then within minutes she would surpass Dacey as the most hated wrestler on the roster.
The heat Dacey has was kind of like an annoyance. The crowd is annoyed with her and wants someone to teach her a lesson. But, the kind of heat that Rob was describing to her was another kind. It was pure hatred and anger.
"If I do this, wouldn’t it negatively affect my career?" Evelyn asked hesitantly.
"Evelyn, let me ask you something, who is the most hated villain you have seen in a movie?"
"The Strickler, he is way too annoying. I absolutely loathe him," Evelyn said not even bothering to think much about it.
"Why didn’t you say it was the Legioner?"
"Hmmm, the Legioner is hateful alright. Don’t take me wrong, he is dangerous and causes a lot of fear. But, he comes off more like a deranged individual whose mind is twisted by his own faulty logic. On the other hand, the Strickler is way too annoying. I hate the Strickler much more than Legioner," Evelyn said shrugging her shoulder.
"Exactly," Rob said clapping his hands. "I want your character to be like the Legioner. You may end up being the most scariest wrestler on the roster, but every time you come out they will be afraid for others who cross your path. I want that exact effect. And you will see it first-hand this week. Because, before you finish your tirade, Alanna is going to interrupt you."
"Me?" Alanna squeaked in shock.
"Yes," Rob said with a smug smile. "You are going to interrupt her and berate her for going overboard with Selena. Then you both will insult each other and you will set up a match for next week."
"This kind of sets you up as the next challenger for Evelyn," Rob said causing Alanna’s eyes to go big. "All the heat on Evelyn would, in turn, transfer into positive attention towards you. Moreover, you are relatively small compared to Evelyn. This sets up an underdog story. David vs Goliath. This sets up a next interesting story to tell without ruining Evelyn’s momentum and also providing you good momentum to push you up."
"But, what about Selena?" Evelyn asked confused.
