Chapter 39: Brawl Through The Crowd

<September 18, Longham Wrestling Arena, Longham City>

"Hello folks, welcome to yet another weekly television of pro wrestling extravaganza. We are joining to you live from Longham City. And this week’s edition of <Fyre> is promising to live up to the standard set by last week’s show," Irvin’s voice echoed through Rob’s headset as the pyros went off.

"Joining me on the commentary table are Rob Williams and Dallas Moonbyte. We have a truly outstanding line-up waiting for you tonight," Irvin finished his introduction.

"That’s right folks, tonight we have an old history renewing itself. Just weeks after their historic Triple Threat Match, Evelyn and Selena Sanchez will go one on one against each other," Dallas took off from Irvin’s pause sounding excited.

"I personally can’t wait to see them in action tonight. We never found out who the best between the two is. And it will be the first time these two women will face each other one-on-one," Irvin hyped the match.

"And I am sure Evelyn will shut Selena up, once and for all," Rob piped in disharmoniously as usual.

"You seem pretty confident about Evelyn, Rob," Dallas commented.

"Of course, I am confident. It was just bad luck Evelyn wasn’t able to win the Triple Threat Match on <Break Out>. If you look at her, you will notice that she is hungry for victory. And, as we saw last week, she has a grudge to grind against Selena," Rob explained in an obnoxious tone.

"So is Selena. I have known Selena Sanchez for a long time. When it comes to the wire, it is when she exactly shines. While I am not taking anything away from Evelyn, I am sure this match will be more evenly matched than you predict Rob," Dallas said in reply.

"But, in the end, it will be Evelyn who will emerge victorious," Rob stated unequivocally. "Efforts are good Dallas, but in the end, it is the result that counts."

"Well, we will see soon who emerges victorious tonight. I am sure this will be a very interesting contest to watch," Dallas commented.

"That’s right folks, tonight is promising to be an interesting night for sure. Tonight, we also have the debut of Marshall "The Headsmasher" Jones in LWC..." Irvin continued introducing Marshall Jones and putting him over as a great wrestler and incredible in-ring performer.

Irvin continued with announcing this week’s lineup for the TV audience at home for a few more minutes. Just as he finished, he directed the conversation to Rob.

"Well Rob, are you excited about The Headsmasher’s debut in LWC?"

"Nah, not really," Rob said eliciting some boos and cheers from the crowd. The reaction was mixed to it. "Let me make this clear, Marshall Jones might have been a great competitor in his prime. But, at this age, he should be spending time at home with his kids. Not compete with young men in LWC."

It had been previously determined after a discussion between commentators that Rob would deride Marshall Jones in order to create both heat for Rob and put over Marshall at the same time.

"Well, I for one disagree. Haven’t you heard Rob? The older the ginger the spicier it is. In this sport, experience and in-ring acumen matter as much as talent and ability. If I were you, I wouldn’t rule out The Headsmasher that soon," Dallas rebutted like always and spoke up for Marshall Jones.

"Good thing you are not me, Dallas. I can’t imagine how I would survive if I was as boring as you. I don’t care one bit about Marshall Jones. What I am worried about is whether we will see the Goddess tonight," Rob said as if he was in distress.

"I hope not," Dallas grunted. "That woman is a menace. Didn’t she kick up a fuss last week about those T-shirts backstage?"

"What are you talking Dallas? You should be happy that your old eyes are even able to gaze upon the Goddess. It is fine if you don’t show your appreciation, but don’t go disrespecting the Goddess," Rob said heatedly.

"That’s right folks, Dacey Surestone created a huge fuss backstage after last week’s show. She basically demanded the production of the <Why DaceyWhy!?> T-shirts to stop and threatened to sue the company if her demands are not met. If you are wondering, why there isn’t many more of those T-shirts out there, then this is the reason," Irvin explained the controversy clearly eliciting the entire audience to boo.

There were no <Why Dacey Why!?> T-shirts for sale this week outside. This caused some grumbles among the fans of LWC as they really wanted to get hold of that T-shirt. Now, Irvin has explained why it was so.

This was the idea Rob had come up with to move Dacey’s storyline and also generate interest in the limited edition T-shirt. This will put Dacey on the bad side of the crowd more than she already is. And also create more fervor to own those limited edition shirts.

The crowd who just realized that there will be no more <Why Dacey Why!?> T-shirts being sold expressed their disappointment by booing loudly. No one expected such a thing to happen and they were all eager to get their hands on that T-shirt.

But now, Dacey had gone and stopped the production of those T-shirts. This elicited anger toward Dacey in the crowd. The crowd started booing Dacey and the announcement in a collective manner, even drowning out the commentary.

"Good for her. The Goddess had done the right thing. It will show these morons what happens if you offend the Goddess. Last week, they showed disrespect to the Goddess and the Goddess has hurt them where it matters," Rob got on the pro-Dacey wagon and spoke nonsense amidst the increasing boos.

When the crowd heard Rob’s words they began to boo more intensely. Just when it looked like it was going to go out of control, Evelyn’s music hit silencing the crowd for a bit. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

The crowd took a short pause before beginning to cheer Evelyn as she made her entrance. There was an intense look on Evelyn’s face as she made her way to the ring. She paused on the steps and took in the crowd, causing them to cheer loudly.

She entered the ring and started posing when Selena’s music hit exactly at that moment to steal Evelyn’s thunder. Evelyn wore a displeased look on her face as she watched Selena make her entrance.

Selena took her time to bask in the crowd’s cheers and slowly make her way to the ring. She interacted with the crowd a bit and even sent flying kisses to a few people in the crowd before entering the ring.

All the while, Evelyn was stonefaced, watching Selena greet the crowd in an enthusiastic manner. It provided a good contrast to the atmosphere of the match as Selena posed inside the ring.

The referee began the match and Evelyn jumped Selena before she could ready herself and started laying into her viciously. This elicited a great reaction from the crowd as this action called back to their intense Triple Threat Match.

"Look at her go Dallas! What did I say!? What did I say!? She is all over Selena now. I was right folks. Evelyn is out for a hunt and Selena is no match for her. Evelyn is going to gobble up Selena Sanchez and spit her out after chewing," Rob exclaimed from commentary.

Dallas didn’t reply. He merely waited. He had discussed this with Rob and the ladies. He knew that there was going to be a reversal soon. So, he waited patiently for it to appear.

Evelyn dragged Selena to a corner and started laying into her for a bit. The referee has to interfere and force her to break. Evelyn lost her cool and started arguing with the referee. When she turned back, Selena dropped her hard with her right hand.

After discussing with Selena, Rob asked Selena to focus on showcasing her right-hand haymaker as much as possible. He even changed Selena’s finisher into a Superman Punch finish to put over Selena’s punching power.

"And that is all it takes for Selena Sanchez to turn the tide, Rob. One single punch. One single punch at the right moment. If it caught you, you are out. Good night!" Dallas said in a mature tone.

He had remained silent like an indulgent older man listening to a teen and then came back at the right time with the proper rebuttal.

"Looks like Selena’s right hand has turned the tables around now. Selena now has the upper hand as she begins to work on Evelyn," Irvin piped in bringing the attention back to the match.

The match lasted for an entire fifteen minutes. There was a lot of back and forth. Counters and submission maneuvers were aplenty. And there were moments to shine for both competitors.

Rob’s aim for this match was to put over both of the wrestlers and create an interest in their feud. He wanted the people to get hooked on their rivalry. That way, he will slowly turn Evelyn a heel right before the people’s eyes.

Rob and Dallas once more bickered like an old married couple on the mic. With Rob firmly behind Evelyn and deriding Selena quite a bit, Dallas had to temper excessive comments and try to be objective between the two. This created good chemistry as the in-ring action progressed. Irvin’s play-by-play commentary also added good value to the match.

"... and Evelyn sends Selena staggering back with that spin kick. Selena staggers and falls down. Great ring awareness by Selena there. She wisely rolled to the outside denying Evelyn a chance to pin her."

"That’s the experience that’s showing over there. Selena isn’t a greenhorn. She knows how to use the ring to her advantage," Dallas commented praising Selena’s actions.

"It is cowardice is what it is! But, I don’t think this would stop Evelyn. Look, she is following Selena outside as well," Rob said as Evelyn too followed outside.

Their fight started to continue outside the ring. Evelyn sent Selena to the barricade outside. She tried to follow up with a Big Boot. Unfortunately, Selena moved out of the way, sending Evelyn over the barricade into the crowd.

Selena followed up Evelyn into the crowd and they resumed their fight in the crowd. The crowd was going nuts by now as they saw the two women fighting each other amongst themselves.

Evelyn and Selena brawled through the crowd eliciting a great response to their brawl. The brawl was still raging on when Irvin brought the attention of the crowd and the TV audience back to the ring.

"...Evelyn is out for blood. I don’t think Selena could handle her anymore," Rob said excitedly.

"Guys, guys, the match is still going on. The referee is at the 8. I don’t think any of the two could beat the count," Irvin said causing the attention to spill over to the referee inside the ring.

The camera panned showing the referee standing in the ring performing the count. A mixed reaction garnered as the crowd realized that neither of the two could manage to beat the count. The duo was so into it that they didn’t even pay attention to the referee.

The referee finished the count and the crowd started booing. Evelyn who was having the upper hand at that moment heard the bell ring and turned towards the ring in dismay.

She just realized that both she and Selena were counted out. It basically meant a draw. And for Evelyn, it wasn’t enough. She lost it at that moment and started attacking Selena relentlessly.

The crowd’s unhappiness was abated seeing Evelyn go to town on Selena. Evelyn wasn’t done with beating up Selena however, she found a chair nearby and picked it up.

The camera zoomed in on her and everyone could hear her screaming.

"I am sick and tired of you bitch. I am gonna end you! You hear me, I am gonna end you!"

Evelyn smashed the chair right across Selena’s back. Selena staggered away from Evelyn in pain. The duo slowly made their way through the crowd with Evelyn smacking Selena a few times in the back with the chair.

At last, the duo ended up on the entrance stage. Selena was to the side as Evelyn climbed up from the crowd with the chair in hand. The camera caught backstage officials trying to talk to Evelyn and calm her down.

Evelyn was arguing with the officials when she heard the crowd roar and turned to look. Selena dashed into her with great force.

By now, Evelyn was standing near the edge of the stage. Behind her was nothing but some wires, some tables, and accessories placed on the side of the stage. They were actually dummies placed for this exact purpose.

Selena crashed into Evelyn, sending both of them flying off the stage and landing on those tables below the stage. The entire arena was stunned as backstage personnel rushed in to see how they were doing taking a fall off the stage.

The crowd was whispering to each other fervently. They had seen brawls previously, but nothing had come close to this. Especially, Selena sending both Evelyn and her off the stage and crashing into the tables below the stage sent tongues wagging.

"Let’s just take a look at what happened just moments ago..." Irvin said as the production team rolled the clip of Selena and Evelyn falling off the stage and crashing into the tables.

"They should fire her for this. Selena Sanchez has no regard for her body or Evelyn’s. LWC should fire her for endangering a fellow wrestler," Rob shouted hypocritically.

"I don’t see you calling on LWC to fire Dacey Surestone. What she did was heinous, what Selena did was an accident. I am sure Selena didn’t mean to take such a fall," Dallas came up to support Selena.

By now, the titantron was showing LWC officials checking on Selena and Evelyn. The replay of the incident made the fall look like it was really bad. The crowd whispered worriedly as they watched the doctors checking on the duo.

"Stay tuned with us folks. We will be back from commercial break in a bit and when we return, we will update you on the situation here," Irvin said calling in for a commercial break.

As the commercials rolled up on the TV sets, the crowd watched worriedly as stretchers were brought out to take away both Evelyn and Selena. LWC even hyped up the entire thing by bringing in ambulances.

Even if he knew that the ambulances were fake and all precautions have been taken for the fall, Rob couldn’t help but be anxious. After all, he was the one who booked the match to end in such a way.

While booking, it had been simple. He just went with things that would have more impact on the audience. But, after seeing them take the fall on his orders, Rob was a little worried about their wellbeing now.

Rob took off the headset and walked back backstage to check on the situation. As a booker, it was his responsibility to make sure that the wrestlers were fine when booking a segment like this.

Rob stopped a nearby helper and enquired a bit anxiously as this was the first time such a thing has been booked by him. He only breathed a sigh of relief when the helper confirmed that both Evelyn and Selena were fine.

"Rob, Rob, come back here. The break is about to end. People backstage would deal with that," Dallas waved to him from behind.

As much as Rob wanted to check that things were fine, he knew his job was to be on the commentary now. So, he reluctantly turned back and walked to the table. As he put his headset on, he heard Irvin welcoming the audience at home back from the commercial.

There was one more segment he had booked and Rob hoped it wouldn’t scare him like this as well.
