Booking Glory-Chapter 70: First Kiss
Rob walked beside Dacey with anxiety filling his heart. He didn’t know what the verdict of his performance was and he knew if it was a negative one, he wouldn’t even get to know it from her directly.
As they walked away from the theatre, the crowd started thinning and Rob’s anxiousness only grew further. He started stealing glances at her occasionally. The fact that they haven’t spoken a single word since they stepped out of the theatre was giving him a bad feeling as well.
"So," Rob spoke trying to work out a means to get to know her thoughts, "did you enjoy the movie?"
"It was alright," Dacey said shrugging.
That reply made him feel a bit more dejected. Until now, he had been banking on the movie being good enough to offset his terrible performance. But now, that hope was also dashed.
"Oh," Rob said not knowing how to continue the conversation.
"I like Jerry Springer’s movies. He is my favorite actor. I have been meaning to watch this one for some time now. Thanks for taking me to it," Dacey said giving Rob a small smile.
Rob breathed a little sigh of relief.
"But, this movie was not his best work. The story was very generic. I noticed that you seemed bored out of your mind too," Dacey said looking at Rob.
"Hmmm, it was not that great," Rob agreed with her.
In reality, he felt like bashing the movie like there was no tomorrow. The movie was not only very bad, but it was a nightmarish experience for him. So, he knew deep down in his heart that he would never watch this particular actor’s movies again if he had any other option.
However, she had just told him that this was his favorite actor. And bashing him in front of her face was not a good idea. Rob knew that he had already fucked up his performance, but that didn’t mean he has to screw up even worse, right?
"Hmmm, I thought so as well. He was really good in his previous movies. However, he doesn’t look like he suits the action genre much," Dacey said humming.
Rob actually felt that the guy looked like a brain-dead lost kid in the movie. But, he wasn’t going to tell her that.
"So, what kind of movies does he usually act in?" Rob asked trying to get the conversation going.
"He usually does romcoms or dramas. This is his first action film. I don’t think it suits him well," Dacey said thoughtfully.
"Yeah, I can see why he is fit for romcoms. His looks are indeed good," Rob replied with a smile.
"Yeah, and his smile is great too," Dacey said nodding along.
Rob felt like bashing himself. Here he was trying to keep the conversation going and somehow it had turned into a conversation about another guy. He knew he was a bit out of touch with the dating scene, but he didn’t think he was this bad.
"Yeah," Rob said smiling back.
Dacey looked at him for a moment and then turned away. Rob felt like his face was going to be stiff by the end of this night with the number of fake smiles he was giving her as of late.
"I really had a good night with you Rob," Dacey said suddenly out of nowhere causing Rob to almost miss a step.
He knew the time he had been dreading till now has now arrived. While he wanted to know the answer desperately, he wasn’t prepared for it to be sprung up in such a sudden manner.
"Me too," Rob said in automatic mode.
"But, this wasn’t exactly how I envisioned the date to go. I am at a loss here. I don’t know what to think of it," Dacey said not looking at him.
Rob let out a defeated sigh. He knew that this was going to happen. After his terrible performance, he wasn’t surprised that she had come to such a decision. Still, he didn’t want things to end on such a bad note.
"I know, it is my mistake. I should have planned better," Rob started trying to make her give him another chance. "I think that I really didn’t think this through. Things kind of spiraled out of control after that incident in the café shop."
Rob said shamelessly throwing that rude waitress under the bus.
"What are you talking about?" Dacey turned to him and asked him in confusion.
"Look, I understand that this date has been a disaster. I had plans, but after what happened at the coffee shop, it kinda turned into a rush job. I guess... you see... all I am saying is..."
"Rob," Dacey suddenly stopped and turned to face him properly.
Rob quickly shut his gob when he saw that she was being serious here. He knew that he had fucked up too much to even get a second chance at that moment. The little bit of hope he had been carrying in his heart was snuffed out when he looked at her serious face.
Rob let out a sigh and prepared himself for the inevitability. He knew that this wasn’t going to be pretty. But, he was determined to be a man and act with grace despite not wanting such an outcome.
"Rob, I don’t know what’s running through your mind," Dacey said looking him in the eyes. "But, I think I need to tell you this. I really had a wonderful time tonight with you. It’s just that this wasn’t exactly what I was expecting."
"I understand," Rob said nodding. "I comple..."
"Will you let me finish, you moron? Just because it wasn’t something I was expecting, it doesn’t mean that I didn’t like it. I really enjoyed it, ok? You don’t need to beat yourself up about the change of plans. I am fine."
"Oh," Rob said as his brain short-circuited.
"Yeah, even that incident with that waitress isn’t affecting me as much as you think it is. I already told you that I used to dream of days like that. So, you don’t need to worry."
"So, you enjoyed today’s date?" Rob asked curiously.
"Yeah, duh," Dacey rolled her eyes. "If not, I would have already got a cab and left you on the sidewalk."
"Ah... so, you like being with me?" Rob asked to confirm once more as he couldn’t bring himself to believe that this date wasn’t a disaster.
Dacey looked at him with an incredulous expression and promptly turned away from him and started walking. Rob stood there shocked for a second before he pursued her and caught up to her.
"Dacey, Dacey, I am sorry if I upset you. I guess, I am..."
"You are what Rob? Seriously, when have you seen a lady walk the streets with someone close to midnight if they don’t like spending time with that person? Are you really out of your mind?" Dacey asked in half-exasperation and half-irritation.
"Ummm," Rob didn’t know how to reply to that.
In hindsight, he should have noticed these things earlier. And he shouldn’t have forgotten Dacey’s statements once they came out of the restaurant. But, his worries over his performance and the change in the time period were clouding his mind from registering these things.
And now, he had run his mouth and dug up a pit for himself as well.
Rob felt like smacking himself on the back of his head. But, he knew the priority was to calm down Dacey and not blow this up due to his idiocy. He would have plenty of time to berate himself later.
"You know what, this is getting nowhere," Dacey said exasperatedly and turned around.
She suddenly grabbed Rob’s collar and pulled him close. Before Rob could react to that, her lips were smashing into his. Rob could feel her soft lips on his lips and his mind once more went into overdrive.
He stood there frozen for a few moments until Dacey moved back from the kiss with a heavy blush on her face. She was looking up at him with hunger in her eyes and spoke.
"Does that clear your doubts?" Dacey whispered causing Rob to gulp.
Rob mutely nodded. His eyes couldn’t stray away from her lips at this moment. They looked full and inviting. Time seemed to slow down a little as he realized how close they both were standing and what Dacey had just done.
He saw the hunger in Dacey’s eyes slowly fade and apprehension slowly take its place. She started wringing her hands as she looked at him expectantly. A moment later it registered to him that Dacey had asked a question.
But, what the question was and how he should answer that was not on his mind now. He knew he had to do something to show his interest back in her. And he knew exactly how to do it.
Rob stepped close to Dacey and grabbed her chin. His usual instincts went into overdrive at that moment and his take-charge attitude came to the front. He bent his head and kissed her lips.
If he had been expecting some sort of resistance to his kiss, nothing materialized from Dacey’s side. Her hands hung limply to the side as Rob kissed her tentatively at first.
Feeling no resistance, he committed fully to it. The kiss started slow and their lips mashed together. However, Rob wasn’t satisfied. All his pent-up arousal from sitting near her and breathing in her aroma for more than three hours came out pouring.
He hungrily sucked on her lips and soon found her lips parting. His tongue flickered out and sought out its counterpart. And it found it too. As their tongues entwined together, Dacey started breathing heavily. The hands that were hanging limply to the side were now gripping his arms tightly.
Rob, for his part, was sucking on her lips greedily and battling her tongue in her mouth. His hands held her chin in position as he poured out his pent-up arousal into her in a dominant manner.
After what felt like ages, Rob stopped his kiss and moved back. He could clearly see Dacey’s panting face with a heavy blush on her cheeks. Her eyes were content now as she looked up at him.
Dacey painted a very beautiful picture of her to Rob at this moment in the moonlight. The moonlight shining down on her made her blush look extremely intoxicating and Rob almost lost his control at that moment.
However, he restrained himself and looked down at her content face with a small smile.
"I think that answered both our questions," Rob said with a smirk causing Dacey to blush even more.
She swatted his chest playfully and admonished him, "Behave."
"Yes, my queen," Rob once more performed a mock bow causing her to chuckle.
"I thought I was your goddess," Dacey asked challengingly with mirth dancing in her eyes.
"That is Dacey Surestone. You are Dacey, my queen," Rob replied cheekily.
"Then it is a good thing that I asked you to reserve the title of queen for me," Dacey said saucily. "Wouldn’t you agree?"
"You can now ask me anything, and I will agree," Rob said shamelessly causing Dacey to roll her eyes.
"Enough, let’s stop here. As much as I enjoyed that kiss, I don’t think I am ready for more," Dacey said a little reluctantly.
"I understand, we can take it slow," Rob smiled bringing her into a hug.
"Thank you," Dacey snuggled into his hug comfortably and said softly.
Rob smiled brightly but didn’t reply. He was enjoying her body snuggled against his far too much to pay any attention to anything else.

Rob stepped inside his house with a spring in his steps.
After that passionate kiss and romantic moment on the streets, Rob had taken Dacey back to her home as it was already nearing midnight. Neither of them wanted to skip their job the next day.
While Rob had to prepare for the upcoming string of debuts in the female division for the upcoming weeks, Dacey was also under the pressure to prepare for her first introduction as a champion two nights later.
Taking a day off at this juncture would be detrimental to her career as she needed to prepare her costumes and her promo for the upcoming show. And she only had one more day left.
So, while reluctant, both of them decided to end their date and head home early. When Rob had dropped her off at her home, Dacey had been content enough with her experience to award him with a kiss for giving her a great night.
However, much to Rob’s disappointment, this kiss wasn’t a passionate one like they had on the streets. Dacey had merely pecked him on his lips and chuckled in his face seeing his disappointed expression. She then, went on to ruffle his head and laugh at his scowling face, before skipping back into her house.
Rob waited on her doorstep till the lights turned on inside and he was sure that Dacey was safe before making his way back to his home. Throughout his return journey, Rob was skipping like a teenage boy.
Several bystanders had looked at him curiously on the way. But, he didn’t give one hoot as to how he was perceived at the moment. He was happy that the night had ended on a great note and his first date in this world was a mixed success.
Once he returned home, Rob sat on the couch and started thinking about his night in a calm manner as he sipped a beer. The relaxed atmosphere helped him to come down from his high and Rob calmly analyzed his actions throughout the night.
In the end, he could only come to the conclusion that his worry over differing time periods had been the root cause of his anxiety. Rob had thought that things will be smooth sailing for him since he had transmigrated to a different world with more than 20 years of time difference.
However, the reality was proving him wrong and wrong again.
While he had the advantage of the future knowledge and development trends from the other world, there were also disadvantages in such a transition. The biggest is the difference between the current society and the society he came from.
He obviously couldn’t approach things with the mindset of a 20th-century man. The things that were pretty common in that time period would not be acceptable in this time period. So, he needed to be extra careful in his interactions with people, in particular.
There is a saying that the social structure and cultural aspects of a society change every ten to twenty years. And he was experiencing this firsthand. While he needed to use the future knowledge, he should be also wary of the current standards of the society he lived in now.
If not, he will end up committing a huge social blunder that would be detrimental to his growth.
And for someone who was in show business like pro wrestling, it was doubly true. One small misstep in his behavioral conduct can be blown out of proportion and his career might be ruined due to it.
While Rob had the confidence to overcome any obstacle put in his path, he wanted to avoid it if it was possible.
"I should pay attention to how I interact with people from now. I can’t be oblivious and create a social faux-pass. And I should also brush up on my dating skills. This date was a roller-coaster ride. While it ended on a high note, it is better to be prepared in the future," Rob mumbled to himself rubbing his lips with his fingers thoughtfully.
