Bound to the vampire I must kill-Chapter 67: Rage
Chapter 67
Rhydian’s jaw tensed, his arms tightening around Seraphina protectively, instinctively. He didn’t answer right away, but his narrowed eyes stayed locked on Karine’s face, watching for any flicker of emotion, guilt, satisfaction, even fear.
Nothing.
Just that same innocent, calculated calm expression she always wore like armor.
"She’s alive," he finally said, voice low and cutting. "Disappointed?"
Karine blinked, as if she hadn’t expected the question to be turned on her. Then a small, practiced frown curved her lips. "Of course not. Why would I be disappointed that your Mistress survived?"
Mistress
The word echoed like poison in Rhydian’s head, but he refused to let it get to him. Not now.
"Because you’re always disappointed when your plans fail, and don’t you ever call her mistress, she is my wife, and the queen of this kingdom." he said coldly, not bothering to hide the venom in his voice.
Karine bit her lips, trying so hard to hide her rage,, then she tilted her head slightly, studying him. "I don’t know what you mean, Your Majesty. I only came to check on you... both of you." Her gaze flicked to Seraphina’s limp body, still cradled in his arms. "She must be quite strong to survive something so brutal."
"She is," he said tightly, moving past her without another word. Every inch of him wanted to lash out, to confront her right there and then, but he couldn’t afford to act recklessly. Not until he had undeniable proof.
And not with Seraphina still so fragile in his arms.
Karine didn’t move as he walked past, but her eyes followed him, her fist clenched so hard till her nails dug her palm....but she kept her expression neutral. Unfortunately, she couldn’t hide her racing heart from Rhydian’s sharp ears, he heard every bit.

Back in his chambers, Rhydian set Seraphina gently down onto the enormous bed, pulling the covers over her carefully. She stirred slightly, a soft sound escaping her lips, but didn’t wake.
He pulled a chair close and sat, elbows on his knees, hands steepled as he watched her sleep. His expression remained unreadable, but the storm behind his eyes only grew stronger.
Why did things like this always end up happening, first his mother, and now her...he couldn’t afford to lose anyone else, especially not Seraphina.
It hadn’t been that long since they knew each other, and yet...it felt like she had become a part of his soul he couldn’t do without.
He was even more mad at himself for not being there to protect her all because he had stepped out to go save the person that actually hurt her. Fuck this! His jaw clenched, his crimson eyes glowing for a bit. His thirst for blood slowly rising.
It always happened whenever his rage reached it’s peak...and it never quenched unless he either drank blood or just poured out his rage on whoever caused it. His wasn’t a pure blooded vampire so he didn’t crave blood frequently like the others, but whenever he did, it always ended in a blood bath.
The only time he managed to hold back from not killing someone was when Seraphina had cast the itching spell on him, he almost went insane, and his anger had almost reached his peak. The moment he layed eyes on her after she opened the door, all he could think about was draining her whole of her blood, but he couldn’t....when she had stopped him, his blood lust vanished instantly, which had never happened before.
It was right then he knew that she had an effect on him that no other had.
His eyes darkened again, pupils narrowing. He could feel his canines pushing through. The scent of her blood, even in sleep, was calling to him. Tempting him. And the longer he stayed, the harder it got to control himself.
He stood up abruptly, the chair scraping quietly across the floor.
He had to find somewhere else to stay, away from her.
Because if he stared at her a second longer, he didn’t trust himself not to give in to his cravings and end up hurting her, and that was the fucking last thing on earth he wanted to do.

Meanwhile...
Karine stormed into her private quarters, slamming the door behind her. She paced like a caged animal, rage simmering beneath her skin.
That woman had survived.
She wasn’t supposed to.
She should have died, that woman had told her that the poison had no antidote, so how the hell did she survive that deadly poison. Last she knew, witches weren’t capable of healing poison, so how? Was it Rhydian? No, absolutely not. Rhydian was no doctor, he knew nothing about poisons, and the physician she just spoke to had clearly told her that Seraphina was beyond saving, but to his surprise, his majesty walked out with her and claimed she was fine.
Karine’s hand slammed into the mirror, cracking it. Her reflection fractured, and her knuckles bled from several cuts caused by the broken mirror pieces.
"I gave him everything," she whispered, trembling. "I waited. I played the part. And she... she just walks in and takes him? And now he won’t even look my way!"
She stared at her shattered reflection, bitting her bottom lip as tears streamed down her face. She hated this, she hated feeling helpless. She was almost sure her plan would succeed, after all the planning and effort, it all came back to her as a slap on her face.
"I hate this! I hate you all!" She yelled, more tears streaming. She had always gotten what she wanted ever since she was a child, and this....this was was the first time had tried so hard to get something only for it to end up in the hands of someone else.
She trembled with rage as she clenched her fist, blood dripping beneath her from the wound on her hand.
"Just you wait witch! I’ll show you, I’ll show you what I’m really capable of."

Back in Rhydian’s chambers, Seraphina stirred again.
Her eyelashes fluttered open, and for a moment, she didn’t know where she was.
Her eyes focused.
