Chapter 356: Reason Why She has No Wings

"The situation is quite complicated, but if we’re going to have an undelectable conversation about Marius, he needs to know what’s going to happen." Remarked the dangling beast plant.

Samantha’s eyebrow furrowed in confusion. She knew exactly what her beast plant meant by letting him join the conversation, but the possibility of that happening left her puzzled. She honestly doubted her beast plant had the ability to communicate with others, and maybe in the past she would have believed it, but right now, it basically sounded impossible to her ears.

"Can you let go of Viney now?" The plant in question was speaking to Ivan who instantly blinked twice in stupefaction. This pleasant, yet proud youthful voice belonging to the plant had echoed in his mind, and he could hardly fathom the fact that he just heard the plant speak to him.

Of all people?

"What?" Was the only word that managed to slip from his mouth.

"Can you release Viney before my body starts to wobble again?!" Complained the plant who turned its whole body to Ivan now, "you have no idea what it does to Viney’s vascular system. I’d demand an apology for your inappropriate behavior towards me. In the plant realm, this would be considered an assault over the weak! But master has been kind to me, so I shall let this one behavior of yours slide."

"How did you...?" Samantha gently retrieved Viney from Ivan’s loosened grip, "you mean all this time, it was easy for you to connect with others?"

"Well yes," Viney confessed, "how did you think Viney got so well with Alain? Viney has been able to link a part of itself to others, but I can block it too, it’s within my control. Master’s case is different, because Viney officially belongs to master."

"So this is what you sound like?" Ivan arched a mockery eyebrow at the little plant who was now in the safety of Samantha’s hold. "You sound like a child." He teased with a light chuckle, cause actually, he had assumed the plant would sound as menacing as its giant form.

"Does your voice change when you transform? Or are you naturally..."

"Viney can sound menacing if it wants to!" The plant countered back, its voice dripping with annoyance, but sadly enough, it was no match for this man, and even if it was, it wouldn’t have been able to harm him.

"We’re here to talk about Marius, and I’ll tell you what I know concerning the blood moon, and the connection it shares with master and Marius." The plant coolly began, going up Samantha’s shoulder and standing there as if to height itself.

"What you’re looking for is already in that book, have you figured it out?" Asked Viney, and Ivan glanced at the book he kept aside before nodding.

"Well, yes. It didn’t hint at how Marius can be gotten rid off, but every page, he has some sort of possessive hold over the orb. Then I thought, what if he’s obsessed with the orb because it’s the only thing capable of ending him. It was just a little theory I came up with at the last minute, he seems to find it difficult to let the orb go, and after learning about my wife here, he was out to get her as well, so his main focus wasn’t on the orb itself, but my wife’s soul. My suspicions were confirmed afterwards when she came in."

"As much as Viney hates to admit it, your theory was right on point, but Marius could have destroyed the orb if he wanted to, but then, he’s a power-hungry demon, and he’ll do anything to get there." Viney asserted before jumping down from Samantha’s shoulder, and it bounced to the book Ivan was reading, using it as a small podium, and then it turned to the couple who were now seated together on the bedspread.

"Long time ago," Viney softly began, "when the blood moon was approaching. All the forest Fae’s had their own share of excitement and benefit from the blood moon, but it was also the day that marked their last. No one knew what was going on when Marius attacked on that celebratory night, and he kept demanding for a dark Fae, a Fae everyone had kept hidden within the land, not even she knew the kind of power she possessed. Black magic can easily connect and intertwine with others who possess the same level of darkness as them, and Marius had used that weakness to his advantage, and he made my master here do things."

"Unfortunately Viney was helpless and couldn’t act without master’s orders. The reason why master has no wings was because Marius had cut them to suppress master’s strength. Actually, it’s a good thing you don’t remember the past, master is better off not knowing what happened, but since the orb that had your soul trapped gave you another chance at life, there’s a high chance that master can gain her wings back, and once she does that within the lines of the blood moon, Marius won’t be a hassle."

"He... cut off my wings?" Samantha’s eyes were wide and round in shock, and from the way Viney shivered at her question, she knew that was not a good memory it wanted to discuss in detail.

"Marius knew he couldn’t fight you at your full strength, he made you hurt your people so you’d be weak with guilt, and then he cut off your wings the minute he got the chance." Explained Viney, "If Master can recover her wings now that the blood moon can aid her strength, you’d be a pure forest Fae, and then, it’d be easier for you to take down Marius." freewebnσvel.cѳm

"How am I supposed to recover my wings?" Samantha asked in a state of half-puzzlement, "I don’t know how."

"Training your powers everyday does the trick well, not holding back, and all you need is Viney’s motivation. Viney will help master become undefeatable." It offered in a prideful tone, making Ivan’s lips draw back into a scowl.

"Hey Ivan." The alarmed voice of Tobias drew Ivan’s gaze to the tent’s flap. He unhurriedly rose from where he sat, making his way out to his tent to speak with Tobias, but after sighting the look on his cousin’s face, he could tell that something was wrong.

"What happened?"

"You really need to come see this." Whispered Tobias, and from his tone, Ivan wasn’t expecting any good surprises. He quietly followed Tobias to Duncan’s private tent, and when they stepped in together, Ivan’s gaze inadvertently landed on the head of Marius, presently floating amidst the air, thanks to Duncan’s magic.

"You’re here," Duncan turned his head to look at him, "I’ve been expecting you, I noticed something rather peculiar to me, come."

Prompting Ivan to step closer, Ivan’s eyes studied the head of Marius. His face, which was normal before, was starting to reveal tiny chords of black veins, they seemed to appear unnaturally, and Ivan’s eyebrows furrowed when the veins began to pulse, almost filling the whole of Marius’s face.

"I’ve never seen anything like this," Duncan admitted, "but it doesn’t look good, do you have an–"

"He’s merging." Ivan blurted out in pure alarm, "he’s... trying to merge his soul into something else."
