Bride To His Darkness-Chapter 368: My Turf Now
Chapter 368: My Turf Now
The door was suddenly shattered open from the outside, accompanied by layers of dust that blurred the figure standing at the threshold. Alistair was more than ready for what was to come, and when Marius stepped into the room, the only soul he could spot was Alistair. When he looked around with a settling frown, he saw no one else.
"You meddling vampires!" And he seized Alistair within the flash of a light, "if you are going to continue getting in my way then I have no use for your useless soul. You either tell me where exactly you hid her, or I will vanquish your soul and you should forget ever being reborn to the world again, cause you... will cease to exist. Not in the real world, not in this world either."
Marius made it super clear he wasn’t bluffing around. He was already draining the energy that came with Alistair’s soul, and the vampire knew—once that energy is gone, it would be like he was never created. The dangers of having your soul owned by someone means they choose to control how you live, what you do, and once angered, they can get rid of you within the snap of a finger.
Alistair could feel his strength waning. He was held in a chokehold and he couldn’t release himself from Marius’s iron grip. Unfortunately, he has lost his strength.
"Where is she??" Marius snapped, "I know she’s in here, where did you hide her??"
To Marius’s confusion, Alistair smiled despite the threat’s he continuously lashed at him. It was at that moment Marius’s ear detected a sound behind him, as if someone was pushing something heavy across the floor. When he turned his head 180 degrees to see what it was, a towering wooden wardrobe crashed on him.
Alistair was able to escape Marius’s cruel grasp, and he looked at Samantha who was already darting through the hallway, disappearing through a corner. She didn’t waste time lingering behind, she felt extremely bad for leaving Alistair alone, but he told her not to wait for him once she falls the heavy thing on Marius. In fact, she was stunned by her own strength.
Not once in her life did she consider being able to push such a thing, and it is true when they say, a little adrenaline rush can do so much more than one can imagine.
Coming across another draped window, Samantha moved the curtains aside so she could see exactly where she was. She inched closer to the window, her face turning white as a blank sheet, and what she saw was a lonely path.
A path led away from the building she was in, flanked by ominous trees with twisted branches. They seemed to reach out like skeletal hands, ready to snatch any soul at attempted escape. Torches lined the path, casting an unsettling light that danced menacingly against a backdrop of utter desolation.
The tumultuous cloud was gray and moody, and her freedom was supposed to lay beyond these walls?
Valda’s heart pounded in her ribcage, she tore herself away from the window’s haunting view and plunged deeper into the mansion’s recesses.
"Samantha."
The sinister laughter of Marius echoed through the halls, a haunting reminder of her captivity in this underworld fortress.
Panic and terror fueled her flight; every shadow seemed to morph into sinister shapes, and every echo sounded like the demon’s footsteps. Samantha’s breath hitched, and she halted when she saw Marius standing at the end of the hallway.
He had grown horns again, and the sight of it prompted her to take cautious steps back.
"Found you."
"Don’t come anywhere near me!" Samantha warned, eyeing his presence with pure ire. "this madness of yours has to end eventually, and I’m done now."
Samantha took a deep breath and steadied her trembling nerves. He won’t be able to control her, he doesn’t own her, she’ll keep saying it until every fiber in her believes it. Her green eyes met the sinister ones of Marius, but asides the flickering fear, her gaze was mixed with the anger she had been bottling in.
He hurt Viney! That’s something she’ll never be able to forgive him for.
"Do you honestly think you can get away from here?" Carmela’s voice rang out in a tone of mockery, and Samantha swirled around to find the witch standing behind her. At this point, she was trapped in their middle, with nowhere to run.
"Can’t fight for yourself?"
"That is exactly what I’m going to do." Samantha retorted, her fist balling at her side, "you don’t frighten me at all, Carmela, cause just like me, you’re nothing but his playtoy, one he would get rid off once he’s accomplished his evil plans and has become bored of you. You will become the bane of his existence, and you will forever be trapped in his clutches, but that’s where we’re different, cause I do not want such for myself."
"Shut up!" Carmela snapped, her gaze shifting frantically between Samantha and Marius, "you promised to give me her body, fulfill your promise to me and end this woman before I lose my senses!"
’Fool’ Marius’s lips curved into a condescending smile, and when he approached Samantha, he was instantly spared by an unknown figure he never saw coming, and that sent him crashing to a wall. Both Carmela and Samantha were taken aback for a moment, and when the dust cleared, Ivan was standing beside the wall where he spared Marius into.
He dusted off the dirt on his shoulder, and he glanced at Samantha whose eyes became watery and filled with relief. He tilted his head a little, stealing a peek at the frozen Carmela, but then Marius’s voice rang out at the last minute.
"GET HIM!!" He pointed a finger at Ivan, and at his call, hundreds of trapped soul came flying over in the form of an apparition. Ivan immediately reached for Samantha, taking her into his arms, and he skillfully lifted her off the ground.
Ivan flapped his wings with pressure, targeting the incoming apparitions, and the huge wind that came with that one flap threw the wailing apparitions back, instantly clearing the hallway of their depressed presence.
"Ivan, watch out!!" Samantha yelped, but her reflexes already made her use her powers to summon her vines. She created a shield that protected her and Ivan from the approaching crystal-like daggers. However, her emerald eyes emitted a soft vengeful glow, and hundred of sharp thorns, about 4inches long grew out of her shield.
Like multiple flying arrows, she targeted them at Marius.
Ivan’s glaring gaze shifted towards Marius, and for the first time, he sensed a subtle fear arise in the demon. Marius on the other hand had never witnessed such a spectacle before; Husband and wife, in mid-air, both eyes glowing with the imminent power they possessed, and he wondered how! There’s no way Ivan could have gotten in here if he wasn’t—!!
"It’s impossible!" Marius shook his head, "this must be an illusion! You can’t be in here! You’re not dead! I didn’t grant you entrance!"
"Who says I need your pathetic entrance?" Ivan smirked, revealing his itching canines.
"This is my turf now!"
