Chapter 38: Battle Of Dragon’s Mouth (3)

WHOOSH!

The glowing green arrow flew through the air at blinding speed. A speed too slow for any man to dodge.

Lucas knew this. He used a skill to summon a glowing gold shield in his hand.

The arrow crashed into it and reflected off into the distance.

Levian knocked another arrow and let it loose again.

Then another.

Then another.

Each was easily defended by Lucas, who stood there defiantly, golden shield blazing in his hand.

"Is this all you can do, Levian Bladeblessed! Dance around your opponent from range. I thought you were a worthy opponent, but you’re merely a coward!"

Levian didn’t allow the words to get to him. All he did was continue dancing around his opponent, making him believe that firing singular arrows was all he could do.

And then, Levian leapt meters into the air, activating one of Eagle’s weapon skills.

Wings Above Flame!

Wings Above Flame ~ Leap high into the air with a single beat of wind and slow time for 3 seconds. During this moment, you may release a shot that splits into five spectral feathers, each targeting a different enemy within view. (Cooldown: 45 seconds)

As he hovered in the air, time slowed.

Wings Above Flame was a strike mostly used for multiple opponents. After all, it allowed the arrow to split off into multiple directions.

However, Levian was able to control the target of each individual arrow.

He knocked his bow until it was fully drawn, activating its weapon talent, and then, he let it loose.

The first four arrows were aimed at Lucas’ head. A vital spot that made him raise his shield to defend.

However, that allowed for one singular arrow to strike low, aiming for the man’s foot.

Lucas reacted fast, bracing his foot into the dirt to make sure that he was not knocked off balance from the strike.

The arrow hit his armour, unable to pierce its metal, and the four other arrows deflected off the shield.

Lucas laughed, proud of his defensive display.

However... a green cross now floated above his head.

Eagledraws talent did not work if it was defended by a skill. All Levian needed to do was ensure that a single arrow made it through his guard.

Now, he was marked. Unless he landed an attack on Levian within 5 seconds, he would become prey.

Lucas, who had no clue of this, continued to taunt Levian.

"A low-gold is not a match for a high-gold. Your weapons are fancy, but that’s it. A guardian is leagues above whatever you are."

Levian didn’t pay attention. He simply laughed.

Times up.

The green cross hovering above his opponent’s head suddenly vanished, and at the same time, Levian’s body felt different.

He knew that Eagledraw’s talent had been activated.

He knocked another arrow in his bow and charged the shot.

Lucas laughed again, prepared to defend with his shield.

WHOOSH

WHOOSH

WHOOSH

Levian fired three arrows in rapid succession. Each one aimed for the same target. The head.

Lucas expected it to be an easy block. He raised his shield in front of his face, waiting for the arrow’s impact.

But then, the arrow ignored the shield, and continued, crashing into his helmet. Then came the two other arrows right afterwards.

His helmet defended against the killing blow, but not only was he left in complete shock, but his ears were ringing, his vision was blurry, and he was knocked off balance.

He tried to get control of himself, shaking his head to clear his vision. However, he did not need vision to see the next strike coming towards him.

The dark figure in front of him had a white rod in his hand, raised above his head. A white orb of light was growing at rapid speed until it reached the size of a house.

Lucas had seen the skill before. He had seen what it did to his men.

There was nothing he could do except target all of his energy into defence.

He stabbed his sword into the ground, in front of him, forming a golden bubble of defence around him.

Then, he poured all of his mana into the skill, praying that it would be enough.

However, the Mythical skill, White Eclipse was far too powerful for a mere high-gold to defend. Levian knew this, as it was the same skill he had used against his brother, Adam.

He launched the sun and hurried away before it made an impact. He didn’t want to get caught in it’s radius.

Behind him, a giant explosion came once again.

He did not need to look back to figure out the income.

[Lucas Fairwind]

[Stats Increased!]

[Skill Awakened: Golden Protection]

Levian let out a sigh of satisfaction. Once again, he had managed to defeat someone who was supposed to be stronger than him.

All thanks to his skills and mythical weapons.

"Hmph, and I didn’t even have to use my full arsenal, or Sovereign Draw."

---

"We’ve lost them..." Sun sighed as he and his forces sprinted through the night "We’ve finally lost them."

The group of twenty-two knights had not lost a single ally during their escape. They had used their legendary weapons to not only take down the human forces, but also force them to stop their chase.

Now, they were all panting on a grass field.

"But Levian," Valessa called, glaring around the field. "Where’s our commander?"

Sun cursed to himself and kicked his feet into the dirt.

They might have made it out safe, but Levian had ended up staying behind to fend off the enemy Commander.

I’ll go back for him... I have to go—

"Look, over there!"

The small army turned their heads towards where a Knight was pointing.

On top of a small hill, they found a man standing there, black armour blending in with the night sky behind him. His red cape blew in the wind and his face was serious.

However, as his eyes landed on his army, a smile spread across his face.

"I did it..." Levian muttered to himself. "I’ve saved my people."
