Burning The House Of Cards: taking revenge on my billionaire family-Chapter 121 - 120. Stirring The Poison Water
Chapter 121: Chapter 120. Stirring The Poison Water
"Hmm...as expected," Sarah narrowed her eyes as they were focused on the tablet screen before her, perusing over the documents Sunny gave her earlier.
"What is?" Hajin asked almost dazedly, as if his soul wasn’t there.
Perhaps because it really wasn’t. Half--if not all--of his soul was flying in the high heavens. It wasn’t the first time his princess initiated a kiss, but for her to ask him for a kiss when they weren’t in the middle of sex was...holding more damage than he thought it would be. She looked so vulnerable too when she asked that, prompting him to put massive brakes on all of his desire, keeping the kiss as gentle as he could possibly manage.
But what was his resolve for when, not long after, his princess came and sat--snuggled--on his lap. Unprompted. Unrequested. Just sat there like he was a chair, and made Hajin think becoming a chair was not such a bad idea.
Was she still rewarding him for being a good boy during the meeting with that Henry whatever guy?
Whatever it was, Hajin capitalized on it since he didn’t know when Sarah would stop spoiling him. He had his arms around her waist and pulled her back to lean against his chest while he lay his head on her shoulder. His princess generously let him do all of that while reading the documents inside the flash storage.
They looked almost like the reports and the proposal given to them when Sarah asked for it a while ago back, but also different. It was like the one given to Sarah--and probably to any auditor and staff from HS--was like an abridged version, whereas the ones Sunny copied from the CEO’s computer--not the personal laptop--were like an extended version. More details, more stuff to take point on.
"This, this, this, and this," Sarah quickly swiped the screen, putting a red marking on the files she selected. "This too, and this--"
The company was established around four--almost five years ago. Within those five years, they only had eight successful projects, but somehow still managed to keep the company afloat--just ba~rely above the red. Among those eight successes, six of them had a similarity.
"They are only subcontractors, but behind them are Daesung," Sarah told the man who had been nuzzling her neck for a while.
It was hard to trace only knowing the subcontractor’s name, since the report only mentioned about a specific job that those companies did rather than the whole project. The big picture, the document containing the project’s name--was only available in the complete report in the CEO’s hand. Thankfully, he kept it in his office’s PC instead of his own home notebook.
Sarah leaned her head back to rest on Hajin’s shoulder, staring at the ceiling while muttering in contemplation. "I wonder if we’ll find Daesung’s name in his big book..."
"Wouldn’t it be more likely that Daesung would have a financial connection to Director Seo rather than the CEO?" Hajin commented; it seemed like his mind had finally returned. Not that he stopped hugging Sarah’s waist.
"In that case, there was no need for him to establish this company," Sarah replied. "The CEO is probably a middleman--no, a porter."
The amount of commission paid to the consultation company was something very easy to manipulate. It was considered a ’service’ after all, just like how people could tip the servers however much they wanted. Daesung probably paid Joseph for his cooperation through this kind of means, making it legal. The ’payment’ would come to the CEO since he officially had fifty-one percent of the shares, but Sarah could buy most of those that belonged to Joseph.
Using the CEO in the middle, Joseph could just cut the ties should something happen, like a gecko cutting its tails.
"And if we found the name?" Hajin asked.
"Just more ground to form something against Director Seo," Sarah shrugged.
Hajin smiled against her skin, nuzzling his nose behind her ear. The fading strawberry strands tickled the side of his face as Sarah wiggled from his ministration. Hajin chuckled and hugged her tighter. "Let me make the report, Princess. I want to have fun."
Sarah arched her brow and turned to the side so she could see the bodyguard’s face clearly. "And you used to fight to have fun."
"Who said I can’t do both?" Hajin replied with a challenging gaze.
"So cheeky..." Sarah squeezed the man’s cheeks--which actually wasn’t very satisfying because there was not much meat there, but she liked making Hajin’s face look silly.
Still with the silly squeezed face, Hajin chukled and leaned forward to capture his princess’s lips, stroking her waist and hips with movements that got lewder and lewder.
"Careful with your hand," Sarah said in a warning after breaking their kiss. "I told you I won’t do it outside of bed."
The traveling hands stopped moving and returned to Sarah’s waist, parking there obediently. But the man did not hide his disappointment, pouting like a child. "But isn’t this thrilling?" Hajin argued petulantly. "And what should I do if you keep dressing like this?"
True to her act, Sarah kept on wearing suggestive clothes that would have her flagged in the company’s board if she weren’t the boss’s boss’s daughter. This time, she wore a tight skirt with high slit and a blouse that was not only devoid of sleeves, it also lack fabric at the back.
How could Hajin bear not swiping his fingers on all of that expanse of skin? He was nothing but a silly puppy!
"Weren’t you trained in self-control in Aegis?" Sarah narrowed her eyes.
"They didn’t teach me self-control in front of the woman I love," Hajin replied with pursed lips.
Love...Sarah almost melted from that, feeling her heart clench. "Still, no."
"Aww..." Hajin continued to while laying his head on Sarah’s shoulder. "They thought we were doing it here anyway."
Sarah smacked the man’s chest. "I’m not going to do it with everyone still out there."
"Oh?" Hajin pulled his head up and arched his brow. "So we can stay back and do it here once everyone’s gone?"
Instead of refuting, Sarah narrowed her eyes even more. "Is this like your kink or something?"
"I thought everyone fantasized about office sex at least once," Hajin shrugged.
"Well, I didn’t," Sarah grumbled. More like...she didn’t think she would have an office in the first place. "Stop sulking," she flicked the man’s pursed lips. "Who was the one who said he preferred cudling?"
"I said no such thing?" Hajin gasped offendedly. "I said I’d rather use your ticket for cuddle, not that I like it more than sex."
"Men," Sarah rolled her eyes, just before a knock sound came from their door.
Unlike with Sunny, however, the person who knocked didn’t bother to wait for Sarah’s response and just opened the door like it was normal. "Young Miss--oh!"
The CEO stopped at the door when he saw Sarah sitting sideways on Hajin’s lap, arms around the bodyguard’s neck and fingers playing with the man’s button. As if it were something normal, Sarah just looked at the CEO without moving away or stopping herself from caressing her bodyguard. "Uncle? What’s up?"
"Am I...disturbing you?" the CEO asked awkwardly.
"Yes," Hajin replied sharply, tightening his hold on Sarah’s waist.
"Sush, don’t be spiky, Puppy," Sarah laughed and playfully tapped the bodyguard’s lips. "It’s okay, Uncle--we’re still dressed and everything."
The CEO laughed awkwardly as he scooted inside slightly, watching Sarah kiss the bodyguard briefly to appease him.
"Is there something you need from me?" Sarah asked impatiently.
"Oh, well...hmm..."
"It’s okay, Uncle, you can just say it," Sarah chuckled. "Aren’t you the boss anyway?"
"How could you say that, Young Miss? What boss?" the CEO quickly shook his head while laughing nervously. "A-anyway, I just want to convey what the Chief Secretary told me."
Sarah tilted her head. "Uncle Park? Not Uncle Joseph?"
"Umm...he would like you to pitch in an idea for a new project, Miss. He also said you can’t ask the employees..." the CEO said cautiously, watching the mood shift on Sarah’s face.
"What?" Sarah frowned. "Does he want to test me again?"
"W-well, I wouldn’t know, Miss..."
"Hngg~" Sarah whined and pursed her lips, frowning at the CEO. "But I thought I only needed to sign documents."
The old man nervously scratched his head. "Well..."
Sarah sighed and sank into her bodyguard’s arms as if comforting herself. "Don’t you have any idea I can use, Uncle?"
"That’s..."
The CEO only grinned emptyly, because, of course, he had nothing. Most of his so-called ’ideas’ came from Joseph’s order, and the ones coming from his own head ended in failure.
"Ugh, fine! I’ll think of some--" Sarah paused, straightening her back all of a sudden that Hajin had to hold her so she wouldn’t topple. Her eyes widened and she exclaimed in excitement. "Oh!"
The CEO blinked. "Do you have an idea already, Miss?"
Sarah gasped before clapping her hands and spewing her idea. "What about Henry’s project?"
Hajin frowned deeply. "Master..."
"Why? Isn’t it a good idea, Puppy? He said the project is about to start construction, so isn’t this a good opportunity?" Sarah patted the bodyguard’s cheek, who looked very annoyed in the CEO’s eyes.
"Wait, Miss--" the CEO widened his eyes as it clicked to him. "By Henry, do you mean..."
"Oh, I went on a blind date with him, Uncle. He told me about this project he’s working on," Sarah turned her head toward the CEO, smiling brightly. "I think his company partnered up with a construction company? Umm..."
"It’s Daesung Construction, Master."
"Yes, that!" Sarah snapped her fingers, seemingly ignoring the shock in the CEO’s face. "Why don’t we see if we can connect them with one of our other clients? Oh, oh--and I saw Uncle Hyun hang out with some Daesung old man before! Maybe we can ask him for help?"
The shock turned into confusion. "You mean...the Chairman’s brother, Miss?"
"Well, who else?" Sarah tilted her head.
"Where..."
"Huh? Where did I see Uncle and Daesung? Uhh...where was it again, Puppy? I remember it was some kind of club..."
As always, Hajin readily replied. "Midas Touch, Master."
"Pfft--what a cringy name!" Sarah laughed and shook her head before shifting her gaze back to the CEO. "So, what do you think, Uncle?"
At that point, the CEO had already scooted toward the door. He paused and turned toward Sarah, looking strangely pale. "Oh? W-well...you can propose first, Miss."
"Ugh--work again?"
"I can do it, Master."
Sarah hugged his bodyguard and nuzzled her cheek against his. "My Puppy is the best!"
"T-then, I’ll leave you to it, Miss."
The CEO hurriedly left as if he didn’t want to witness the youngsters’ act of intimacy. But they saw him fetch his phone before the door closed, presumably reporting something to someone.
"Do you think he’ll tell Joseph?" Sarah muttered, coldness returning to her gaze.
"We’ll see," Hajin stroked her waist again. "If she can access his phone, we might find the exact connection between your uncles."
