Burning The House Of Cards: taking revenge on my billionaire family-Chapter 122 - 121. Poetic Justice
Chapter 122: Chapter 121. Poetic Justice
"Did you suddenly cling to me for this, Master?" Hajin asked, eyes narrowed, and sounded like a sulky child.
"How would I know he’d come?" Sarah rolled her eyes.
In the first place, there was no need to give a show to the CEO if she just wanted to tell him about Lee Hyun’s involvement with Daesung’s executives. Sarah could just sit behind her desk and the flow of the conversation would still be the same.
She got the idea after seeing that none of the new proposals contained anything related to that project. Knowing how many projects were linked to Daesung in the past, it was weird that the company wasn’t in on that. Sarah wondered if it was because the construction hadn’t begun, or Joseph had no intention to get involved--and so, she started that act.
There was also the lingering question of the situation between Joseph and Lee Hyun. Were they cooperating? Was it a coincidence? Certainly, the CEO would report their conversation to Joseph, right?
Once Sunny successfully gained access to the CEO’s phone, perhaps they would find the answer.
"Alright; since we’ve done all we need to do here, let’s leave," Sarah jumped off the bodyguard’s lap, making Hajin whine in disappointment.
With a sigh, Hajin moved to tidy up the tablet and any documents that no one should see, packing them inside a briefcase while Sarah was checking herself in the mirror. They might only cuddle slightly, but Hajin had managed to mess her clothes and hair.
"Where are we going, though?" Hajin asked curiously. Sarah didn’t tell him their schedule for the day--she had been moving impulsively these days.
"Helios," Sarah said while renewing her lip stain. "I want to hear some development."
While she could just make a call to Sol for that, the manager didn’t work alone. Sarah wanted to hear the report from the people involved in the ’legwork’ as Sol called it.
Besides, it had been a while since she visited Little Bird.
"...let’s buy some desserts on the way."

"For someone who doesn’t drink, you visit clubs quite often, huh?"
After lounging around in the wine bar for twenty minutes, Sol finally escaped from a group of expats who were regulars at the day club. Unlike the nighttime when he liked to cosplay as a security personnel, Sol dressed like a proper general manager by day; a neat three-piece suit, branded glasses, hair slicked back.
"Are you cosplaying as a sommelier today?" Sarah asked curiously.
"I do have a license," Sol shrugged.
"Huh...would have never guessed."
The manager scoffed and told them to follow him. On the way, he called out to a passing staff member. "Get Honey here."
The staff bowed before turning to another direction, deeper into the staff’s area. Sarah tilted her head while following Sol to an atrium with tinted glass, allowing them to look out without being seen.
"You want to hear some progress, right?" Sol glanced at Sarah’s curious expression. "I presumed you came here to see the agent in person."
Perceptive as always--Sarah curled her lips in response. "Is it a code name?"
Sol laughed and stopped in front of a booth with a big semi-circular seat. His eyes curled as he replied mysteriously. "Guess," he winked before gesturing for them to sit. "Want a drink or something?"
"Virgin Cuba Libre," Sarah replied while taking a seat.
The manager who managed a place serving alcoholic drinks rolled his eyes. He glanced at the man who chose to stand outside the couch, acting like a proper bodyguard. "What about you, puppy?"
"Hey, I’m the only one who can call him that," Sarah slapped the table. "Also, he’s driving."
"Look at you?" Sol leaned back, arching his brow at the smirking puppy who looked at him haughtily. One cute nickname and he was dancing in his princess’s hand happily. "But aren’t you going to stay in your room?"
That was usually what happened when they visited Helios. Most of the time, Little Bird would hold Sarah until nighttime, so they just decided to use the hotel room rather than driving all the way back. The mansion was a bit far after all.
But Sarah shook her head. "Not tonight." freёnovelkiss.com
"Heh," Sol curled his lips as Hajin pursed his lips. He could almost see the man’s downturned ears and limp tail. "Your dog looks disappointed."
"He needs training anyway," Sarah was firm, but she patted the man’s arm to appease him and the invisible tail wiggled excitedly. Hajin took the hand tapping him and kissed the fingers briefly, full of smile.
"Don’t you look happy," Sol scoffed, right before someone appeared on top of the stairs leading to the atrium. "Ah, she’s here."
"Hello," a tall, lithe woman walked toward them with a movement that reminded Sarah of a cat.
She was pretty, but not too pretty that women would feel jealous of her. Her gaze was focused and sharp, but her soft voice made her less intimidating. Sarah could see she had a nice figure, though it was hidden behind an oversized shirt and a pair of cargo pants.
Someone who could be invisible if she wanted, and strikingly eye-turing if she wished.
The woman, whom Sol called ’Honey’, stopped behind the manager and put her hand on his shoulder so seamlessly that it felt natural. But the first one she greeted was the bodyguard across her. "It’s been a long time, Jin."
"It is," Hajin nodded courteously, which was quite different from how he usually acted.
"Hmm?" Sarah knitted her brows in reflex, a reaction she didn’t seem to realize herself. It made the grey eyes sparkle in a pleasant surprise, which in turn surprised the woman.
"Honey worked as a member of medical support for the coliseum and Aegis sometimes," Sol introduced the woman. "She had a license and everything, but she got bored working in the hospital."
Sarah tilted her head. "I thought hospitals were the least boring workplace."
"It’s boring when you can’t do anything without a bunch of stuck-ups’ permission," Honey replied in a layer of exasperation.
"Isn’t that the case everywhere?"
"Why else do you think I ended up working here?" she let out a crisp laugh while tapping Sol’s shoulder, whose eyes were rolling in exasperation.
Hajin crouched beside his master and whispered cautiously--but also curiously. "I rarely got hurt, you know?"
"I didn’t ask," Sarah grumbled and pushed the bodyguard’s face away. Ignoring the grinning man, Sarah focused on the woman across her. "And what do you do when you’re not treating fighters?"
Honey curled her eyes, looking like a fox spirit in myth. "Street acting?"
Sol chuckled as Sarah arched her brow. "Cool way to call a fraud, huh?" he smirked, which rewarded him with a mean pinch from Honey.
"It’s not wrong," Sarah shrugged. Be it spying or scamming, they needed to act well to pull it off, out in the wild without any director’s lead. She did the same, didn’t she? Pretending to be a promiscuous rich lady. "So, you’re the one talking to my father’s mistress?"
"Ah, conglomerate’s drama," Honey exclaimed dramatically, finally taking a seat beside Sol. Seemed like she shared the same penchant for chaos as her boss. "It’s such a nice scheme to be involved in. Just to be sure, you truly don’t mind any method?"
Sarah nodded. "As long as it doesn’t involve useless death."
"Only useless one? Whew..." Honey chuckled. But then again, the young lady was the one who tamed the coliseum’s double triple-crown champion and Aegis’s mad dog, so it was understandable. "Anyway, all you have to know is that I managed to befriend her somewhat. The manager said you want her to go and crash your house, right?"
Crashing the house had a nice ring to it. The slight annoyance she unknowingly held eased from that. "Uh-huh, push her to move into the house."
Honey nodded. "So I told her to get pregnant."
Sol coughed on his wine--the only drink in that booth. Drama was drama, but sometimes he got scared of women for the extent they could go to create one.
"Well...I didn’t tell her to get really pregnant, just pretend to be--although it will be amusing if she really goes through with it," Honey smirked, before turning toward Sarah and asking cautiously. "You...don’t mind, do you?"
Sarah might say she didn’t mind anything so long it didn’t involve death, but you never knew with these conglomerates. It could be something traumatizing for someone, or she might not like the idea of an unborn child getting involved in a drama.
And Sarah was silent for a while, which made the air a little tense. When it came down to it, she had the highest position among them as one of the big boss’s investments. Honey had never even seen the hair of Yonghwa, so she was rather nervous.
But suddenly, Sarah laughed; softly at first, and it turned louder and louder. Rather than happy, she sounded a bit manic, a bit sinister.
"Oh, that would be perfect," she said after finished laughing, the coldness in her eyes matched the sinister laugh she let out earlier. "Such a perfect poetic justice."
