Chapter 758: Chapter 759: The Little Milk Spirit Became the Old Lady’s Spy

After Gu Anxi finished speaking, Wang Jingchuan was stunned once more. He stared at her for a long moment before swallowing. "Yes, that makes sense."

Rubbing his hands together, he said, "Alright then. You go quickly to Mr. Wang. I’ll stay here and write the self-critique."

Gu Anxi patted his shoulder and said in a buddy-buddy tone, "I’ll leave you to it then."

Everything seemed fine to Wang Jingchuan; Little Gu had his back, after all. So, he settled down comfortably and opened his laptop. But just as he did, he received a phone call. It was his boss, his voice still thunderous, "Write it by hand, you brat! Did you think it would be that easy?"

Wang Jingchuan froze.

Meanwhile, King Jingyao had just hung up the phone when Gu Anxi quietly tiptoed in.

King Jingyao glared at her. "You still dare to come here?"

Gu Anxi stood by the door, coughed lightly, and said, "We agreed—scolding is fine, but no hitting, remember?"

King Jingyao sneered. "Afraid of losing face if I spanked your bottom, is that it? True, you’re a grown girl now. It wouldn’t be appropriate for me to discipline you like that anymore."

Gu Anxi’s heart skipped a beat as she saw King Jingyao pick up a prized artifact from the table and hurl it in her direction.

With her skills, she could have easily caught it, and King Jingyao had expected her to. However, she deliberately sidestepped, and the priceless artifact smashed onto the floor with a CRASH.

King Jingyao looked down and froze.

Then, he erupted in anger.

That was his favorite cup.

So, he grabbed another item to throw. But just as he raised it, he hesitated and reluctantly put it down.

He barely had any treasures left; she swiped a few every time she visited!

Finally, King Jingyao lowered his hand, still glaring at her. "You still dare to show your face?"

With Wang Jingchuan absent, Gu Anxi patiently gathered the fragments from the floor. She looked down at the pieces in her hand. What a pity.

Looking up again, she cleared her throat. "You summoned me. How could I dare not come?"

As she spoke, she casually tossed the pieces into the trash can. Then, she slyly grabbed a piece of fruit and perched on his desk, one long leg naturally propped on the floor for balance.

King Jingyao, smoking his cigarette, shot her an irritated glance. "Is that any way to sit? What kind of manners are those?"

He couldn’t help muttering, "Xichen is too lenient with you."

Gu Anxi hummed softly. "Little Uncle doesn’t see anything wrong with it."

King Jingyao continued to glare at her. He puffed on his cigarette for a while before saying, as if his patience had run out, "I don’t usually say this, but you’ve really gone too far this time. It’s bad enough you’re mischievous yourself, but why drag Jingchuan into it? He works for me, and you’ve taught him such terrible habits!"

She listened patiently to his every word, munching on her fruit without talking back, appearing quite docile.

It was rare for King Jingyao to successfully assert his authority with her. Especially after their recent harrowing experience, he was even less willing to scold her. But this time, she had truly been too outrageous...

Besides anger, King Jingyao also felt a twinge of guilt. He hadn’t really paid much mind to Jiang Chaoge. She’s a beauty, so naturally, one might offer a few comforting words, a light touch of the hand, a shoulder to lean on—nothing serious. But to Gu Anxi, it was a huge deal. Not only had she spied on him, but she’d also told Jingchuan! How could he ever show his face again?

He glared at her, his words still holding some restraint. Gu Anxi, however, was far more imperious. "Let me be clear. You can get married, but not to Jiang Chaoge. She’s out of the question."

King Jingyao had no such intentions, but the more she insisted, the more he wanted to provoke her. He sneered, "Who I marry is my business. Do I need to report to a little brat like you? I don’t think so!"

"It’s just not allowed," Gu Anxi retorted, tossing the fruit core into the trash bin with a light huff. "I think Lin Hua is perfectly fine. Why must it be Jiang Chaoge? Who knows what she’s scheming, now that she’s back!"

King Jingyao sneered again. "Oh, cut it out! You think I don’t know what you’re up to? It’s just because Jiang Chaoge used to have a crush on Xichen, so you’re unhappy about it. If I married her, we’d naturally interact more often. You think I can’t see through your childish little schemes, you brat?"

Her thoughts exposed, Gu Anxi jumped up, bristling. "Ha! In that case, we’ll just see if we need to associate with each other at all anymore!"

As she walked away, she declared with an air of icy, noble indignation, "We’ll see about that!"

King Jingyao had only spoken in anger. Seeing the little rascal actually about to leave, he quickly reached out and pulled her back.

Still glaring at her, he said impatiently, "Alright, alright, stop your act. You know perfectly well I have no such intentions toward her."

Gu Anxi rolled her eyes before retorting, "If you have no such intentions, then you really shouldn’t be leading young women on."

King Jingyao lit another cigarette. He took a couple of drags before lifting his eyelids slightly, a faint smile playing on his lips. "What would a child like you understand about adult matters?"

Gu Anxi studied him for a moment, then nodded in sudden understanding. "Ah, I get it. Now that Min Xin has settled down with his family, you’re planning to inherit his reputation as a playboy."

King Jingyao stared at her.

After a long pause, he asked softly, "Was this the Old Madam’s idea?"

Gu Anxi snapped her fingers. "Clever!"

With that, her demeanor turned warm and affectionate. She nudged his shoulder playfully. "The Old Madam doesn’t like Jiang Chaoge, but she finds Lin Hua acceptable."

King Jingyao exhaled a cloud of smoke. "So, you decided to play the spy?"

Gu Anxi chuckled mischievously.

King Jingyao opened a drawer and took out a moderately sized box containing a rather fine treasure. "Here, take this and play with it."

Gu Anxi reached for it immediately, knowing its contents wouldn’t be cheap.

Just as she was about to take it, King Jingyao shifted his hand slightly. "Around the Old Madam, keep your lips sealed. I dread her nagging more than anything."

"No problem." Gu Anxi hugged the box, assuring him, "Anything I shouldn’t say, I won’t utter a single word."

With that, she left cheerfully. At the door, she bumped into Wang Jingchuan, who was coming to report. Seeing the box in her hand, Wang Jingchuan looked utterly devastated. "From Mr. Wang?"

Gu Anxi was beaming.

Wang Jingchuan probed tentatively, "Then Mr. Wang must have calmed down... What about my hundred thousand words...?"

Gu Anxi slapped her forehead. "Oh! I completely forgot!"

Wang Jingchuan groaned in despair. "How could you forget something like that?"

Just as he said that, King Jingyao’s displeased voice came from inside, "Jingchuan, what are you chattering about? Instead of writing your self-critique, you have time to stand around gossiping? It seems one hundred thousand words weren’t enough for you..."

Wang Jingchuan: Damn it!
