Chapter 26: Chapter 26: Drifting at Sea, the Unknown Island

Leo looked at the troublemaker, the little witch Anna, with a headache, and warned: "If you keep talking nonsense, I’ll have Lilia send you back to the Elven Forest."

Anna rubbed her forehead, pouting, and said: "I’m just bored, okay?"

Leo ignored her and turned to walk toward the ship’s cabin.

Inside the cabin, there was a constant sound of hammering. The two dwarves, Barnett and Solomon, were the busiest. Leo had given them a few more blueprints to create some small and precise weapons, which had them both excited beyond words.

Anna followed closely behind, hugging Leo and asking: "Leo, you said you’d give me some fun things. What are they?"

"Just wait and see."

Leo thought that the two dwarves should have finished them by now.

The cabin was hot, and a small furnace was flickering. Barnett and Solomon were busy around the fire, working with great enthusiasm.

But it was tough on the two minotaurs, Biggy and Secondy, who were helping. They were sweating and groaning in frustration.

"Sir, I was just looking for you." Barnett said, his face red from the heat. He wiped his forehead, set down his hammer, and handed it to Solomon.

"Did you finish what I asked for?"

Leo was also a bit excited.

In recent days, he had accepted the reality that he had no magical talent and his combat skills were almost nonexistent, making him the weakest among the group.

He desperately needed to create some weapons for self-defense.

Barnett nodded and, from a messy workbench, took out a wooden box, quickly assembled it, and handed it to Leo.

"Sir, this is the hidden dart you wanted. Its killing power is slightly less than a bow, but if the tip is poisoned, it’s still formidable."

"You two really are evil." Anna complained.

Leo glared at her. How could this little witch dare to criticize others?

He took the hidden dart, assembled it quickly, and attached it to his arm. He aimed at a wooden post a few meters away, pressed down his wrist, and triggered the mechanism.

A small arrow flew out, accurately embedding itself into the post, its tiny body still trembling slightly.

"WOW!" Anna gasped, ran over immediately, pulled the arrow out, and then nervously handed it back to Barnett, clinging to Leo.

"Leo, is this a toy for me?"

"Toy? This is for your own protection." Leo was exasperated. He took the hidden dart off and fastened it to Anna’s slender arm, explaining how to operate it.

The arrow shot out, and the girl screamed in delight, playing with it happily. However, Biggy and Secondy were sweating coldly, fearing that the little princess might test the new weapon on them.

"This is so fun! I feel like a killer, a shadowy elven assassin!" Anna said proudly, scanning the room with a mischievous look.

Biggy and the others quickly hid.

Barnett smiled: "This weapon is indeed very suitable for the princess. A mage is always vulnerable at close range. A hidden dart can strike without warning, and it’s sure to hit the enemy."

Anna, for once, didn’t argue. She nodded in agreement: "Old man, go find some poison for me. I want to poison the arrows."

"Didn’t you just say this was evil?" Leo glared at her.

Anna raised her little face and said: "A noble elf would never be evil. This is just strategy, you know."

"You still have to give me back the hidden dart." Leo said angrily as he lunged forward to snatch it back. But Girlie, quick as a cat, dodged effortlessly and dashed out of the cabin, proudly showing off to the other girls.

Barnett then pulled out several wooden boxes and said, "Sir, we made a total of five sets of hidden darts. You and Princess Anna and the others can each have one set."

"Good, thanks." Leo took the box and then asked, "How’s the Flintlock coming along?"

He hadn’t originally planned to make a Flintlock, but with the current technology and conditions, the dwarves couldn’t yet build more advanced firearms. So he had to settle for a simple Flintlock, at least to improve his own combat ability temporarily.

Barnett looked a bit dejected. "Sir, the weapon you asked for is even more difficult to make than the Smoothbore cannon. We’ve made a few test models these days, but none met your requirements. I’ll do some more research, and I’m sure I can make it in a few days."

Leo hadn’t expected that even a simple Flintlock would be such a challenge for old Barnett.

He wasn’t in a hurry. "This isn’t even the most advanced weapon. Take your time, just treat it as research. Be careful with the process."

"But isn’t this already an advanced weapon?" Barnett was shocked.

He had already calculated the power of the Flintlock. It was more powerful than the hidden dart, and it was compact and easy to carry. The only drawback was that it made a lot of noise. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Now, hearing that there were even more powerful weapons, he felt a surge of excitement and promised immediately, "Sir, three days! I promise I can finish this weapon in three days."

Leo smiled. "No rush. Take some rest. The contract clearly states that you can work no more than twelve hours a day. If you go over, I have the right to break the contract."

Upon hearing this, Barnett’s face fell instantly.

While others were worried about working too long, he was complaining that twelve hours a day was too short.

The blueprints Leo provided were far too advanced. To him, they were priceless treasures. He longed to spend every hour of the day immersed in them.

Thinking about this, he shot a fierce glare at Solomon.

It was all this guy’s fault for signing the contract with such a ridiculous limitation.

Solomon caught Barnett’s angry gaze and nervously scratched his head, not daring to say much. He just focused on his work, looking very serious.

...

Over the next few days, Anna lost interest in the hidden darts. Once the other women also had them and began showing them off, her sense of superiority vanished entirely.

"Leo, do you have any new and exciting toys? I’m not interested in hidden darts anymore." she once again pestered Leo.

In the past few days, the Flintlock had already been completed, and its power far exceeded that of the hidden darts.

But Leo hadn’t told Anna yet. Otherwise, with her reckless and lawless personality, she might do something even more outrageous.

"Mr. Leo, we’ve found an island ahead!" At that moment, Marina surfaced from the water and shouted loudly to the two on the deck.

Leo felt like he was saved. He finally had an excuse to get away from this little witch.

He quickly ordered Biggy and Secondy to control the sails and head toward the small island in the distance.

After drifting at sea for more than half a month, he was already feeling a bit bored.

"Finally reached the island? I want to go hunting." Anna said, her attention shifting. She no longer pestered Leo, rushing to the cabin to equip her hidden dart, excitedly ready for action.

Leo let out a long sigh of relief. He didn’t care if the little witch caused trouble—just as long as he could get a break from her for a while.

"Leo, should we go back to the Elven Forest first?" Lilia smiled and walked over to him.

But when Leo saw her smile, he couldn’t help but feel something was off.

If he could get away from Anna, that would be good, but he was afraid he would never leave Elven Forest once he got there.

"You better not think about me, I don’t dance or sell myself." he said, looking very careful.

"Hmph. No one would want you." Lilia said, not caring.

"Rubbish, I really like Mister Leo." Ava came out of nowhere and protested.

"You’re being a love-sick fool again!" Lilia waved her fist, whenever it was about Leo, Girlie was always against her.

"Hmph, you’re a water-fearing loser!" Ava joked.

Lilia turned red in the face, gritting her teeth, it was her eternal embarrassment.

Marina taught her for two days and was completely exhausted, but she still couldn’t learn to swim.

She didn’t give up, but Marina did, whenever she saw her, she would jump into the sea and hide.

As Marina said, she had run away from humans, and that was easier than teaching Lilia to swim.

"Girlie, you’re annoying me again!"

Lilia jumped at her, and the two girls laughed and chased each other.

Leo smiled as he watched the two girls play, the sea wind blew, feeling very relaxed.

Soon, the big ship got close to the island.

Marina had already checked it quickly, it was an empty island, and there were no signs of human activity near it.

"Finally, back on land." Ava said, standing on the beach, looking happy.

She wasn’t as seasick as before, but being on the sea for too long still made her feel bad.

Leo looked around and said, "Get fresh water and food, see if there are any useful resources on this small island."

"Sir, let us handle it." Biggy and Secondy volunteered to take the task of exploring the island.

The island wasn’t big, the group checked around a little and found something strange.

Far away on the shore, there was a broken wooden raft, it looked like someone had been in trouble and ended up here.
