Reborn in the 1970s — Married a Proud Rough Man-Chapter 165 - 69: Fourth Sister-in-law, All Counted, 2,000
Xu Chunyan was quick. She returned not long after. Qin Mei had no interest in where she’d gotten the money. As long as it was real, she had no complaints.
Qin Mei pushed the two stacks of money toward Jie Jingshan and said, "Jing Qi, help me count this."
"Okay." Jie Jingshan agreed, setting down her book and starting to count the money.
Qin Mei didn’t wait for Jie Jingshan to finish. Having her count the money was merely a way to humiliate Xu Chunyan and Jie Jingwei. She pulled Jie Jingchen to his feet, and he cooperated readily.
Xu Chunwang was large and intimidating, so Qin Mei pulled Jie Jingchen along for backup. Who would have guessed she was actually using his hand to reset Xu Chunwang’s jaw.
Guiding Jie Jingchen’s fingers, Qin Mei made a few quick motions on Xu Chunwang’s jaw, and it popped back into place. She then immediately let go of Jie Jingchen’s hand and retreated several steps, a look of disgust on her face.
"Sorry," Qin Mei said to Jie Jingchen, looking apologetic. "I’m a bit of a germaphobe. His drool is disgusting."
"..." ’I’m disgusted too,’ Jie Jingchen thought.
She had used his hand without any warning, and Jie Jingchen had been completely unprepared. He looked at his fingers, now covered in Xu Chunwang’s drool, and felt utterly disgusted. He strode over to the sink, turned on the faucet, and washed his hand with soap several times before he was satisfied.
Jie Jingwei and Xu Chunyan were dumbfounded. Making money like that was just too easy. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"Chunwang," Xu Chunyan called out.
Xu Chunwang moved his jaw. He could move it, and he could speak. These past few days had been torture, with every day feeling like a year.
With his jaw healed, the accumulated humiliation made Xu Chunwang want to kill Qin Mei to vent his rage. "You little bit—"
"Chunwang!" Xu Chunyan knew her brother all too well. Just as he was about to charge at Qin Mei, she moved to block his path.
"Sis, get out of my way." Xu Chunwang’s eyes blazed with fury and murderous intent.
"Chunwang, this is the Jie family home," Xu Chunyan reminded him.
"I don’t care, Sis." Xu Chunwang was burning with rage. He’d rather die than be forced to endure this.
"Chunwang," Jie Jingwei chimed in, stepping in front of Xu Chunwang. He lowered his voice. "You can make a move on her anywhere but in the Jie family home. Chunwang, listen to your brother-in-law. There will be other opportunities. Revenge is a dish best served cold."
Xu Chunwang still refused to listen, but Xu Chunyan gave him a shove. "Listen to your brother-in-law. Go home. Now."
"Sis!" Xu Chunwang felt incredibly wronged. Xu Chunyan secretly stuffed some money into his hand, but he still wouldn’t back down. Finally, Xu Chunyan had to bring up their parents, and only then did Xu Chunwang leave, seething with resentment.
Qin Mei stood behind Jie Jingshan, arms crossed, watching her count the money. She let out a cold laugh. "I can dislocate his jaw once, and I can do it a second time. Since we’re sisters-in-law, I’ll give you a word of advice: tell him not to provoke me again. Otherwise... Hmph! He’ll have to face the consequences."
Watching Jie Jingshan count the money was like a knife to Xu Chunyan’s eyes. That was all her money! ’Even though I scammed it off of Qiao Yanqiu, it still hurts to lose it!’ she thought.
"Qin Mei, you just wait and see," Xu Chunyan said viciously.
Qin Mei ignored her, not even in the mood to engage in a war of words.
"Fourth Sister-in-law, I’ve finished counting. It’s two thousand," Jie Jingshan said to Qin Mei.
"Jing Qi, thanks for your help counting this. This is your payment." Qin Mei was generous. Just for helping her count the two thousand yuan, she immediately handed one thousand over to Jie Jingshan.
Jie Jingshan froze, then quickly shook her head and waved her hands in refusal. "Fourth Sister-in-law, I can’t take this."
"Qin Mei, Jing Qi is still young," Jie Jingchen interjected, his cold gaze sweeping toward the kitchen. "Someone will have their eye on that money."
Qin Mei understood instantly. She tapped her forehead in frustration. "How could I have forgotten about *her*."
"Fourth Sister-in-law, you should put the money away," Jie Jingshan reminded her. Leaving so much cash out in the open was just asking for trouble.
"No rush. Let’s wait a little longer," Qin Mei said with a mysterious smile.
Xu Chunyan snorted, then pulled Jie Jingwei back into their room.
When Jie Jinghun got home from work, he saw the piles of money on the stone table and asked in surprise, "Whose money is all this?"
"I earned it," Qin Mei said, full of pride.
"Earned from who?" Jie Jinghun picked up a stack, fanned it, and set it back down.
Jie Jingshan jumped in to answer first. "Fourth Sister-in-law earned it by fixing Second Sister-in-law’s brother’s jaw."
"This much? Looks like about two thousand, right?" Jie Jinghun was surprised all over again. ’This isn’t earning money, this is a straight-up shakedown! Jing Si’s wife is really something else!’
"Exactly two thousand," Jie Jingshan said, her eyes crinkling with a smile. She was happy because her fourth sister-in-law was happy.
Jie Jinghun ruffled Jie Jingshan’s hair, gave Qin Mei a thumbs-up, and asked regretfully, "Looks like I missed a great show, huh?"
Jie Jingshan nodded, Qin Mei smiled without a word, and Jie Jingchen sat in the wicker chair, occasionally glancing at his own fingers with disgust.
"Jing Si, what’s wrong with your hand?" Jie Jinghun asked, concerned.
