Captain of the Pirates: My Fleet's Limitless Upgrading-Chapter 46: Huge Black Shadow, Ruined Big Ship
"I’ll go first. A King." It was Anna again, eager to play a card.
Lilia hesitated, then played one.
Leo looked at her suspiciously but said nothing, playing two.
"Three." Ava played three cards directly and smiled at Anna.
Leo was a bit surprised. Was this girl really that bold?
He had four Kings and one Joker in his hand. There were at most three cards outside. He guessed Ava was definitely faking. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
But Anna was scared and didn’t dare to challenge. She bit her lip and played another card.
Lilia didn’t question it either. She played three cards too.
"I challenge." Leo said quickly. He felt if they kept going, he might not be the first one to leave.
He had finally got five real cards. He couldn’t back down.
"Haha, Leo, you got played." Lilia laughed, flipping over her cards. Two Kings and one small Joker.
"Damn, this is bad luck!" Leo was speechless. He threw his cards away, grabbed the wooden gun, and pulled the trigger without hesitation.
One in five chance. He didn’t believe he was that unlucky.
Bang!
A loud shot, smoke filled the air. Everyone jumped.
Leo was stunned. 20% chance and he hit it. What kind of luck was that?
"Haha, I told you I could make a cool comeback. Lilia did a good job. Time to switch!" Anna laughed proudly, resetting the gun.
"Mr. Leo, it’s my turn." Marina was eager, taking Leo’s place.
He sighed and dealt cards to the others.
"The next one to be out, I’ll take over." Secondy was excited and waiting.
The girls watched their wooden cards carefully, keeping their eyes on each other.
After a few rounds, Lilia and Marina both got eliminated.
But Ava and Anna stayed at the table.
Anna was just lucky. Six chances, and five times she didn’t trigger anything.
Ava, on the other hand, was just good.
Leo was even impressed by her tricks. Several times, he was fooled by her.
He couldn’t help but think, thank goodness Ava was from the simple-minded barbarian tribe. If she was born in the nobility, her smarts and tricks would be no less than Elyse.
"Big shot, are you cheating? Five shots, none of them triggered!" Biggy was eliminated again, hit right in the head, and he questioned Anna.
"Haha, that’s just skill. If you don’t believe me, try the last one yourself." Anna laughed, handing the wooden gun to Biggy.
"Okay." He took it without hesitation and pointed it at his head.
Bang!
Smoke filled the air. It triggered.
"Haha, now you believe? I’m the chosen one of the goddess of nature!" Anna laughed loudly.
"Biggy, you’re out. Now it’s my turn." Lilia pushed him aside.
"I’m done. I’ll go watch the route." Biggy gave up. He and Secondy both got eliminated in the first round.
Minotaur had bad luck, and his personality was too honest. Anyone could see he was lying.
"Neither will I." Secondy also gave up, following Biggy out.
"It’s getting late. You all should rest." Leo saw the girls still wanted to keep going, so he spoke up.
"Come on, Leo. Play a little longer. If you’re tired, just go rest." Anna pouted.
"Four people can play. We girls are enough. Leo, go rest." Lilia was even worse. She directly pushed him away.
Leo took the chance when the girls weren’t looking, gave her a quick pat on the behind, making her face turn red. Then he left with a proud grin.
...
"Mr. Leo, breakfast is ready."
Early in the morning, Leo was woken up by Ava.
"So early?" Leo opened the door and saw Ava with a pair of panda eyes, holding a simple breakfast in her hands—stir-fried vegetables and some rice porridge.
"Did you not sleep last night?" he asked, confused.
Ava forced a smile and yawned, saying, "Yeah. I didn’t realize it was already morning. Sir, too bad you went back to sleep. Later, no one was eliminated, so we added a bet. Whoever gets eliminated has to take off one piece of clothing."
"Take off clothes?" Leo’s eyes lit up. He swallowed and looked at Ava from head to toe.
Ava smiled and said, "Sir, I’ve never lost, but those three girls lost everything."
"Is that so?" Leo could already imagine the sexy scene.
No way, he had to be there tonight.
Looking at Ava, who was clearly exhausted, he said, "You should rest early too. I don’t need your care."
"Okay." Ava didn’t refuse. She could barely keep her eyes open, she had played too hard last night.
Today, the ship was unusually quiet.
After eating breakfast, Leo checked things out, made sure the route was safe, then went back to his room to work.
"Sir, there are enemies approaching in the mist." A while later, Biggy’s voice called from the deck.
Leo was confused. He went up to the deck and saw a huge black shadow moving in the fog ahead.
"Get ready for battle!" He said quickly, then ordered two men to load gunpowder and adjust the smoothbore cannon. Ten dark cannon mouths aimed at the huge thing in the mist.
Woo-woo...
The wind howled like a beast roaring.
Pyrothar was also disturbed and landed on Leo’s shoulder, watching the black shadow in the fog with caution.
The shadow didn’t slow down. It kept getting bigger, quickly moving toward their big ship.
"Fire!" Leo didn’t hesitate and ordered the cannons to fire.
Boom boom...
The explosions roared, flames surged, the ship wobbled slightly, and huge cannonballs flew out, crashing into the mist.
Crack!
It sounded like a wooden board breaking, along with a creaking noise. The huge shadow shook, but it still rushed forward quickly.
This shadow was at least three or four times bigger than their ship.
Leo had a bad feeling. He ordered, "Keep firing!"
Biggy and Secondy worked together, quickly loading the cannons and firing.
"Sir, what’s happening?" Marina’s voice came. The girls were resting in the room and were woken up by the loud cannon fire. They came out, still sleepy.
"There’s a monster!" Anna rubbed her eyes and saw the huge shadow in the fog. Her eyes lit up. She ran to Biggy and Secondy, grabbed a torch.
"You load the gunpowder, let me do it!" She was excited, and had no sign of sleep left.
"I’ll go up to check." Lilia ran to the deck and controlled the hot air balloon, quickly rising into the sky.
Ava came to Leo’s side and protected his safety.
Creak...
The cannon fire roared, and the creaking sound kept coming. The huge shadow seemed to shrink a bit.
"Leo, it’s not a beast. It’s a big ship!" Lilia,操控着热气球,飞到空中,看清了那道巨大黑影.
"A ship?"
Leo was surprised. It was the first time he had seen such a massive vessel. The ship was over two hundred meters long and at least thirty to forty meters high.
He shouted, "Is there anyone on it?"
"Can’t tell for sure, but it doesn’t seem like there’s any movement. It’s just being pushed by the waves and wind." Lilia looked into the distance and said.
Leo hesitated for a moment, then said, "Anna, stop firing. Biggy, Secondy, take control of the ship and slowly approach. Lilia, if you notice anything strange, let us know immediately."
"Got it!" The others replied.
Anna was still disappointed, but she ran to the deck to watch the shadow in the mist.
The ship slowly got closer.
Leo finally saw the full shape of the shadow.
It was definitely a huge ship, made of wood, broken and rotten, as if it would break with just a touch. Moss covered the entire surface, and it was impossible to tell how many years it had been drifting on the sea.
"Leo, there’s no sign of life on board." Lilia’s voice came from above. She had already flown the hot air balloon to the top of the abandoned ship.
Leo said, "Biggy, Secondy, prepare the grappling hooks. We’re going up to take a look."
He was really curious about where this ship had come from.
"I’ll check the underwater first." Marina jumped down and disappeared into the sea.
The ship quickly moved closer to the broken wooden ship. They didn’t even need grappling hooks—climbing up was easy.
"I’ll go check." Anna said, holding her staff and climbing up the broken ship.
Lilia’s hot air balloon slowly descended from the sky.
With Ava’s help, Leo also made his way onto the ruined wooden ship.
Creak...
The wooden planks under their feet made loud, grating sounds, as if they couldn’t hold the weight of the group and were about to break at any moment.
The ship was in terrible condition, completely rotten, and there was no sign of any life.
Leo felt a bit relieved and curiously examined the ship.
No sails, no oars. It looked like it had some other kind of power source.
Had steam engines already appeared in this world?
Leo hesitated, then walked down into the lower deck.
The wooden planks kept creaking, and walking through the cabin made their hearts race.
A strong smell of decay came from the darkness. Ava gasped and warned, "Sir, be careful—there are bones here."
She pointed to a narrow corridor ahead. There was a skull, lying on the floor, its mouth wide open, one arm stretched out as if reaching for help.
"Don’t be afraid." Leo comforted, stepping forward carefully and examining the skeleton with curiosity.
The skull’s mouth was wide open, its eye sockets were empty and terrifying.
This person had clearly seen something terrible before dying.
Anna and Lilia also entered the cabin, curious and watching the skeleton closely.
Leo hesitated, then reached out to touch it.
Crash!
In an instant, the skeleton turned to dust. It had been severely eroded and weathered.
Leo hesitated again, then continued deeper into the cabin.
All around was silent. The only sound was the creaking of the wooden planks underfoot. The corridors and rooms were filled with human bones, cold and terrifying.
The girls instinctively moved closer to Leo.
The people who had died here had clearly been seized by extreme fear, maintaining positions of struggle and desperation—like they had been taken in an instant.
The group stopped in front of a sealed cabin. The door showed no signs of damage. Inside, it seemed to be safe.
