Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 587: Dereliction Of Duty!

When Kang Guanyu heard the door click open in front of him, he instinctively straightened up and blurted out the words he had prepared in his mind, still with his eyes covered.

"I–I’m truly sorry! I didn’t mean to intrude on you like that. Please, you have to believe me! I... I just smelled Mu Yuze’s pheromones so I thought that something nasty was happening to him. I didn’t know... I didn’t know that..." he slapped his mouth with a grimace, "Look at what I’m saying. I should have seen this coming. After all, the two of you are a couple. I’m sorry, I’m truly sorry! I will pretend that I never saw anything. What did I witness tonight? Nothing! I didn’t even smell anything at all! Don’t worry, you can trust me on that!" He even raised three fingers to the sky to emphasize his statement.

Leaning against the doorframe, Mu Yuze found himself thinking, I really want to kill him right here and now.

The country was really fortunate to have him as a police officer, or else the number of wanted criminals would have increased by one. Sighing, he told the other man, "Drop the act. It’s only me here."

Kang Guanyu peeked out through the gaps between his fingers, and upon seeing no one but Mu Yuze, his posture immediately slumped as he clutched his chest, gasping, "Oh my God, Brother Mu, you should have seen him earlier. He was so scary. I swear I saw my life flashing through my eyes!" He shuddered, his complexion still a little pale from the fright. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Don’t blush, don’t blush, Mu Yuze willed himself to keep his expression straight, even though his heart was still racing up a storm. It wasn’t only Kang Guanyu who was affected here. He had to admit that He Juan’s anger was really terrifying, but at the same time, it was also so... hot. Focus, Mu Yuze! Shaking his head, Mu Yuze tried to focus on the matter at hand, and somehow it was much easier to gather his composure now, most likely because of Kang Guanyu’s silly face in front of him.

"What happened to you...?" Mu Yuze asked as he examined Kang Guanyu from head to toe. Although his pink buttonless suit and neon green speedo was still intact, Mu Yuze could catch some suspicious tear in the seams. Not only that, he also noticed a few red scratches on the man’s chest and thighs.

"Ugh, don’t remind me of that!" Kang Guanyu rubbed the goosebumps rising on his arms, his expression looking as if he was on the verge of puking. "I didn’t expect the Alpha participations to be so fucking persistent and annoying. They’re like leeches you can’t get rid of!"

Mu Yuze genuinely sympathized with Kang Guanyu upon hearing that. He could almost imagine what had happened. It should be more or less the same as his own experience.

"Anyway!" Kang Guanyu perked up and forcibly changed the topic. "It’s a relief that you managed to find him. I was getting worried because we have less than fifteen minutes until we have to meet up!" He cast a glance at the closed doors before inching closer to Mu Yuze and whispered in a conspiratorial manner. "So? What information have you extracted from him? Don’t tell me that all this time, the two of you have been..." he made a vulgar gesture with his fingers, and this time Mu Yuze was unable to hold back his blush.

Goodness, he couldn’t believe it! He was supposed to be on duty, but in the end he had ended up indulging in his carnal desires and... he had not even managed to learn anything from He Juan! This was a serious dereliction of duty!

Kang Guanyu must have deduced the answer from his face because he clicked his tongue in annoyance, though the laughter and schadenfreude in his eyes spoke otherwise. "Tsk tsk tsk, I didn’t expect this day would come. Mu Yuze, the proud and untouchable kaolin flower of our team, finally succumbed to the temptation of beauty! What has the world become?!"

"Shut up," Mu Yuze hissed sharply as he covered his burning face with a hand. It seemed like there was no use keeping this conversation up any longer, otherwise he might really be tempted to knock Kang Guanyu out cold right here and now. Huffing, he turned back to the door, saying, "Come inside. He said he wants to talk to you about something."

Kang Guanyu immediately recoiled backward in horror as if he had seen a ghost. "Does he really want to dispose of my body once and for all? Are you going to be his accomplice?!"

Not wanting to deal with Kang Guanyu’s exaggerated antics, Mu Yuze rolled his eyes and pushed open the door. The light had now been switched on, washing the entire space in brightness. The ventilator was diligently working to filter out the pheromones in the air, and during the short span of time when Mu Yuze and Kang Guanyu were conversing outside, the smell had mostly been gone.

Mu Yuze suppressed the irrational sense of loss within him and tightened the suit jacket around himself instead, his inner omega purring at the smell of his Alpha. He shifted his gaze to He Juan, who stood by the open window with his back to them, talking on the phone.

"...bring his belongings to me. Yes, and gland patches. I’d have to trouble you then." Hanging up on the call, he turned around and his features immediately softened once he caught sight of Mu Yuze, a sight that never failed to make his heart soar.

"You’re here." He Juan approached him in a few large strides and pressed a kiss on his temple, inhaling the scent he had left on the omega. His arm went around Mu Yuze’s waist to pull the omega closer to him. In response, Mu Yuze’s eyelids fluttered shut as he leaned against his Alpha’s chest, feeling extremely blissful. "I’m sorry," he murmured against Mu Yuze’s skin. "Did I get you in trouble?"

"No," Mu Yuze replied, shaking his head. "He swore that he will not breathe a word to anyone. You can trust him."

"I know." He Juan’s gaze moved to Kang Guanyu, who stood as close to the door as possible while trying to lessen his presence to the minimum. His eyes were trained to the floor as though the carpet was the most fascinating thing he had ever seen. A faint nostalgic smile made its way to He Juan’s lips. "Kang Guanyu, it’s been a long time. I didn’t expect to see you again in such a situation. I apologize for my rudeness earlier."

Kang Guanyu snapped his head up in shock, his eyes going huge and round. It wasn’t only him who was caught off guard, but Mu Yuze as well.

"Have you two met before?" He asked, unable to hold back his curiosity.

"Wu..." a soft whimper escaped Kang Guanyu’s lips, then he shocked the other two by suddenly bursting out into tears. He gasped out in between his sobs, "X–XIU? Is that really you? Have you regained your memories?!"
