Qin Zhen, the man who was the embodiment of beauty and purity in his mind, turned out to be someone who would engage in one night stands?! The more Zhong Yun thought about it, the more ridiculous it seemed. He almost crossed off that possibility, but then he recalled once again how Qin Zhen did not look like someone who would work in a night club either.

He was just like two sides of the same coin. The Qin Zhen he knew represented only one side, while hidden on the other side was a Qin Zhen who always managed to overturn everything he believed— Qin Zhen who worked in the Phoenix Ablaze, Qin Zhen who passionately made out with a man in broad daylight – and God it did not look like it was his first time doing so – and lastly, Qin Zhen who most likely invited his one night stands into his room.

He felt like his first impression of Qin Zhen was getting further and further away from the truth. Clearly, the man was not as pure as Zhong Yun believed him to be. On the contrary, he was the exact opposite of that, and knowing the truth only served to fuel Zhong Yun’s obsession. He wanted to know more about Qin Zhen, he craved to learn everything about the man inside out, and this time the urge was no longer something he could stop by willpower alone.

But firstly, Zhong Yun needed to confirm his suspicions about the man. And thus, he began to cultivate the new skill he had no idea he was capable of— stalking.

Despite berating himself countless times inside his mind, Zhong Yun couldn’t find it in himself to regret what he was doing. Not even one bit. By now, he had learned Qin Zhen’s work schedule by heart, and thus it was easy for him to study the pattern of the man’s... flings. At first, Zhong Yun still harbored a little doubt inside his mind that he was just overthinking too much about Qin Zhen’s one night stand, but after stalking the man for two whole weeks, he ended up witnessing another intense make-out session, and this time, Qin Zhen’s partner was different from before!

So his speculation had been correct all along!

Zhong Yun watched from the shadows as yet another man – a man who was not him – kissed Qin Zhen within an inch of his life against the dirty brick wall of a random dark alley between his home and workplace. He watched as the man drew out one desperate cry after another from Qin Zhen’s kiss-swollen mouth. He watched as the corner of Qin Zhen’s eyes turned red from the passion, a sight he would unhesitatingly worship with every inch of his soul.

Oh how exquisite those beautiful lips must have tasted...

The obsession in Zhong Yun’s heart went ablaze, so did the irrational jealousy rooting deep within him. As he observed Qin Zhen move from the embrace of one man to another, never once staying with the same person, he found himself wondering why. Why couldn’t it be him? Why couldn’t he be the one to embrace Qin Zhen, to make him cry and beg with tears in the corner of his eyes? And once there was a second, there would be a third, a fourth, and so on. By the time Qin Zhen realized it, he could no longer escape from Zhong Yun’s vicious snare.

But first things first, he needed a chance. He needed to make Qin Zhen see him not just as a not-so-close acquaintance whom he talked to once in a while, but a proper man – someone whom he could desire and lean on.

However, Zhong Yun was nothing but patient. Despite the overwhelming jealousy that threatened to consume him, he did nothing but to stew on his desires and resentment all by his lonesome.

Eventually, God must have taken pity on him because as the New Year approached, he received another invitation from Qin Zhen to spend the eve together, just like they had done last year. Zhong Yun knew that Qin Zhen had extended this invitation out of the kindness of his heart, just like how someone would throw out an uneaten bone to a starving dog. Or perhaps the man only found a kindred spirit in him. Regardless of the reason, Zhong Yun excitedly took him on the offer.

That was also the day Zhong Yun’s obsession reached its peak. The reason? It was none other than one of Qin Zhen’s past flings who knocked on the door that night, giving Qin Zhen the shock of his life as he had not expected anyone at this hour, let alone someone whom he had once entangled with!

As soon as the man laid his gaze upon Qin Zhen, his eyes gleamed with a fiery lust and he immediately pounced forward, trying to capture Qin Zhen’s lips in a wild and rough kiss. Qin Zhen made a vehement struggle out of it, of course. After all, he still had a guest inside his house! What would Zhong Yun think of him if he were to witness such a scene?!

"Y–You...! What do you think you’re doing?!" Qin Zhen forcefully pushed him away, his eyes bloodshot in anger and anxiety as he tried to keep his volume as small as possible, not wanting to draw Zhong Yun’s attention, who was currently watching the gala.

The man did not seem like he was aware of Qin Zhen’s distress at all. Or he did, but he just couldn’t care less about it. "Don’t play so hard to get, it’s not attractive." He gave Qin Zhen’s body an assessing once-over and licked his lips, as if reliving the passionate scenes of the night they had once spent together. "I thought you’d be lonely on such a beautiful night, so I came here on a whim. Don’t lie and say that you don’t miss me, baby. After all, it’s not me who kept begging for more that night."

The temperature in Qin Zhen’s eyes instantly plunged to the freezing point as his grip on the door handle tightened so hard he almost broke it into two. His voice, frosty and unfeeling, cut through the air as he stated staunchly, "Leave now. I don’t want to see you again. Didn’t I make that clear the last time we met?"

The man’s smile vanished abruptly at Qin Zhen’s words and his face flushed with anger. "You slut—" he raised his hand high, and Qin Zhen, who was wholly unprepared for this, could only squeeze his eyes shut and braced himself for the pain.

But the slap he anticipated never came.

Instead, a familiar presence approached him from behind, and a strong arm encircled his waist, yanking him back until he bumped against a sturdy and unyielding chest. Qin Zhen’s heart lurched in his chest as he heard Zhong Yun’s voice speak above him, filled with a mockery sneer and malice he had never seen on the other person before.

"You dare hit him?" A bone-chilling sound of bones breaking resounded as Zhong Yun shattered the other person’s wrist in a single clean and neat move, eliciting a pig-like howl. "Do you not know the meaning of one-night stands or should I spell it out for you? If you wish to keep your body intact, then you’d better not come here and bother him anymore."
