Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 641: Who Had A Crush?
It was indeed a drug that had only circulated around northern America in recent months. Due to its limited production, words had yet to spread to other regions. Moreover, the details were confined to a certain group of people, such as the drug lords, contracted killers, or the mafia.
"If you’re interested, I can obtain a sample of it...?" Ye Qiu inquired tentatively, ready to reach out for her phone, but He Juan stopped her.
"No, it’s okay, you don’t need to go to such trouble. It’s just that..." He Juan pondered for a while before deciding to explain vaguely, "There’s someone I know whose death precisely matches your description, so I can’t help but wonder if the drug is the real cause. Is it really untraceable? Or is there a way to detect it in the blood?"
Ye Qiu let out a thoughtful hum. "Let Ye Gu find out more about it," she signaled to the other Alpha, who responded with a firm nod.
"I will get back to you as soon as I receive the information, XIU."
"I’d really appreciate that," He Juan let out a sigh of relief. Even though there was no confirmation yet, he could almost say for certain that the cause of Qin Zhen’s death was the same drug. It was typical of Luo Xuan to utilize such a method because honestly, how were the national police supposed to dig out information that was exclusive only to a certain group of people in the underworld, in a foreign country at that?
The limited scope of available information meant that they could focus their investigation there. Who knows? They might really be able to unearth something about Ku Jin’s involvement in this case! Surely, that bastard wouldn’t have expected He Juan to receive help from Ye Qiu, right?
He Juan tapped his fingers on his lap, already delighted in the idea of delivering this precious information to Mu Yuze. Last time when they talked about it, the omega had expressed clear frustration with how they had to set this case aside for the time being. He could almost imagine the sparkles in Mu Yuze’s eyes upon learning this new discovery. Most importantly, he had to ensure that Mu Yuze received all credit for the breakthrough in this case!
Come to think of it, he had not prepared any courting gift for his mate. What perfect timing. Given how they had not bonded yet, He Juan would just present this intel as a courting gift! Should he include the sample of the drug as well?
The movement of He Juan’s fingers paused as another brilliant idea flashed in his mind. A sinister gleam flickered in his silver eyes. "Once you confirm the nature of the drug, let’s deal with Mr. Walker next. We will cut this matter off from its root and incapacitate Luo Xuan’s power completely before he has the chance to act. And after that..."
He Juan meticulously laid out his plans before the three Alphas. Ye Qiu raised an amused brow but refrained from commenting, whereas it was Ye Hu who whistled in appreciation,
"As expected, old ginger is more spi— oww!" He cradled his head that was slapped by Ye Qiu. "Alright, alright, I won’t say anything more, okay? Geez, what a tyrant!"
He Juan observed their interaction with a hint of amusement and longing, for he was once again reminded of his little brother who had departed from this world. However, he quickly shook his head before the memory could get to his head and checked his watch. "I still have another matter to attend to, so I think that will be all for today." Rising, he straightened his suit. "Good work, everyone. I’m truly impressed by the amount of information you’ve obtained in a short time. It couldn’t have been easy."
Simultaneously, Ye Hu and Ye Gu’s eyes went to Ye Qiu – a reaction that did not go unnoticed by He Juan. "What is it?" He asked with a raised brow. "Do you have something else to share with me?"
"Ah..." Ye Qiu rose to her feet and scratched her cheek. A moment of hesitation crossed her eyes before it was replaced with firmness and resolution as if she had made up her mind. "He told me not to expose anything, but screw it." Meeting He Juan’s confused gaze, Ye Qiu heaved out a sigh and revealed the truth, "How do you think I obtained the information about the drug? I received some help from the Morningstar Clan."
He Juan stilled at the mention of that familiar name. "Morningstar Clan?" he echoed, his heart skipping a beat. "Do you mean—"
"That’s right. It’s Sirius." Ye Qiu stated. "I don’t know what’s going through his mind. He insisted on helping, but he didn’t want you to find out about it. I told him we would be meeting today, but he chose to run over to Mr. Chen’s place to hide. What is going on between you two?"
The sheer amount of information in those sentences was too much for He Juan to take. "Wait, wait a minute..." he sat down again and held his spinning head. "Are you saying that... Sirius is in China too? Why would he be with Chen Youzhi?"
"Maybe because that man is a Beta and we’re a bunch of stinky Alphas?" Ye Hu chimed in with a nonchalant shrug. "Not that I could blame him, though."
He Juan stared at him blankly. "What do you mean?"
For two full seconds, they stared at each other as the atmosphere grew more awkward than ever.
Ye Qiu palmed her forehead with a groan, "I see. You have no idea, do you?"
About what? He Juan wanted to ask, but Ye Qiu beat him to it as she casually dropped a bomb:
"Sirius is an Omega. He manifested at twelve."
He Juan’s jaws hung open in surprise. "He... is an Omega?" More than that shocking fact, he was more concerned about another matter. "Then what about the Morningstar Clan? How..."
"Don’t worry," Ye Qiu reassured him. "They’re more open-minded than we are and have no qualms in accepting an omega as their leader. Well, it’s partly thanks to the powerful vessels by his side, but he has also proven his capabilities in the same way as his brother – eliminating those who defy him without mercy." A fond yet melancholic smile tugged on Ye Qiu’s lips. "He is Marius’ little brother, after all. So you don’t need to worry too much about him."
"I see..." He Juan slowly processed everything he had learned, a bitter smile curling on his lips. "So he’s not willing to meet me, huh?"
He did not blame Sirius for that. After all, part of the blame behind Marius’ death lay in He Juan, so it was understandable that the other person wouldn’t want to see him ever again. He Juan understood it deep in his heart, yet it still left a bitter aftertaste in his mouth. It was a little devastating to remember how the two of them used to be so close until Marius’ accident happened.
Ye Hu cleared his throat, interjecting from the side, "Actually, there’s something I’ve been meaning to ask." Before anyone could stop him, he blurted out, "Does he have a crush on you or something?"
"...What?" He Juan’s eyes widened at the unexpected question. Had he heard wrong? Who had a crush on whom??
