Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 647: Childish Bicker
An abrupt silence ensued as soon as Mu Yuze finished speaking. Not even the sound of breathing could be heard as if the other person was so surprised that they had forgotten to breathe.
In that fleeting moment, Mu Yuze’s brain worked to analyze the situation. Judging from the youthful voice, it seemed like the caller was quite young in age, most likely a teenager. His tone was blunt and straightforward, proving that his relationship with He Juan was quite close. The conclusion immediately soured Mu Yuze’s mood. Juan-gege had just returned to the country, hadn’t he? So how could he befriend someone so fast, and a teenager at that?
"W–Who are you? Did I call the wrong number? No, it can’t be. This is indeed XIU’s number..." After that quick mumbles, the other person regained their momentum and demanded, "You! Who are you?! How could you answer XIU’s phone at such an ungodly hour? Did you steal his phone or something?! I’m warning you, if you dare to look through his phone, I will make you taste the consequences!"
"Oh?" Mu Yuze sneered. "So you also realized that you’re calling him at an ungodly hour? Is that your real purpose? To disturb his rest?"
The teenager sounded nervous as he tried to make an excuse. "I... I..." Unfortunately for Mu Yuze, he quickly regained his bearings and snapped, "Wait, why should I explain this to you?! Goddamnit, just get XIU on the phone!"
"Why should I?" Mu Yuze retorted pettily. "Didn’t you hear me? He’s sleeping right now. Try calling again around eight in the morning."
Without giving the other person a chance to react, Mu Yuze hung up on the call, glaring at the innocent phone in his hand. "Damn brat, why is he so rude? He’s even speaking to Juan-gege with such an informal tone! How dare he!"
Mu Yuze huffed and puffed, and it wasn’t until seconds later that the weight of his actions hit him like a freight train, draining the colors from his face.
Wait a minute... what had he done? Not only had he bickered childishly with someone younger than him, he’d also lied that He Juan was sleeping and hung up one-sidedly on the call!
Screaming internally, Mu Yuze buried his face into his hands. Why would you do that?! Have you always been such a petty and narrow-minded person?!
He grew even more panicked as the sound of water in the bathroom stopped. In that split second, he considered making a quick escape from the room, but it was too late— the bathroom door swung open in the next second. Oh no, there was no time to think! Mu Yuze immediately blurted out the first thing that came to his mind,
"Juan-gege, just now, I—" He almost choked on his saliva as he caught sight of He Juan’s appearance.
The Alpha had come out only with a towel wrapped around his waist, revealing his broad shoulders, chiseled chest with rivulets of water cascading down his honey bronze skin. His hair was pulled up into a messy bun atop his head, though a few errant strands had escaped to frame his angular face.
Mu Yuze could feel himself gawking as his eyes zeroed in on a particular bead of water that left a glistening trail along He Juan’s solid abs before disappearing into the towel. The light and heavy scars on his body did not diminish his beauty in the slightest, but instead it added on a roguish and wild charm. The warm mist from the bathroom floated out, carrying the remnants of the Alpha’s raw pheromones, and the mere sniff of it was enough to make Mu Yuze feel light-headed. Coupled with the visual impact, he immediately forgot everything he wanted to say.
"Xiao Ze?" Mild surprise colored He Juan’s features when he found that Mu Yuze was still inside the room. "You’re still here?"
"Y–Yes!" Mu Yuze squeaked out and averted his gaze with a whoosh, fixing it on the floor instead. Even though he had seen He Juan’s body a couple times before, why... why did it seem like the man was getting hotter and sexier each time?!
Despite his gaze being on the floor, he was painfully aware of He Juan’s every footstep as the man padded across the room towards his wardrobe.
Mu Yuze gingerly peeked at him, only to squeeze his eyes shut when the towel slipped off He Juan’s body to pool around his feet. Oh Lord in Heaven— it was just a split second, but Mu Yuze’s eyes were already blessed with the sight of He Juan’s muscular back and behind. He clutched his chest, fearing that he would get a heart attack in the next second. Amidst the sound of his thundering heartbeat, he almost missed the faint rustles of He Juan getting himself dressed.
"So," He Juan broke the silence, his tone slightly amused. "Did you finish the soup?"
Mu Yuze nodded quietly, not trusting himself to make a sound right now. He dared not open his eyes either for fear that he would be treated with a more provocative sight than He Juan’s tight ass. The silence that followed felt like hours, when in fact only a few seconds had passed. Too absorbed in his own hysteria, it was too late for Mu Yuze to realize that he did not hear any more movements from He Juan.
He gasped when a hand lifted his chin, his eyes snapping open by reflex. In an instant, his gaze clashed with He Juan’s silvery ones, tinged with a hint of dark amusement. Wait, since when did Juan-gege get in front of him? He had not noticed anything at all!
"Your face is so red..." He Juan gently caressed Mu Yuze’s cheek with the back of his hand, sending a rush of shivers down the omega’s spine. "Why are you closing your eyes? Did you not enjoy the sight? Hmm?"
Mu Yuze struggled to regain his bearings. His brain was literally turning into mush in the face of He Juan’s devious smirk. Why hadn’t he realized how insufferable this man was before? "You..." he glared up at He Juan to the best of his ability. "You’re teasing me again!"
"I am," He Juan admitted brazenly with a snicker. "Why? Is it my fault that my little bunny is so fun to tease?"
"Gege!"
"Alright, alright," He Juan stepped back with a chuckle, allowing Mu Yuze a space to breathe. "Gege will stop here... for now. Who’s the one on the phone?"
Breathing through his mouth, Mu Yuze rubbed his scorching face and grumbled as he recalled the rude person he had talked to earlier. "How should I know? It’s an unknown number. He sounds young, and he’s talking about how it’s his decision to meet or not, and something about respecting his decision. Do you know him, Gege?"
When he received no answer from He Juan, Mu Yuze quickly sensed something amiss. He raised his head, only to find He Juan frozen in place. Intense emotions swirled in his eyes, too complex for Mu Yuze to comprehend.
"Gege...?"
"He... gave me a call?" He Juan asked, his voice a little shaky.
