Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 650: A Long Two Hours
"My true mate," He Juan clarified, a hint of amusement in his tone. "Why are you so surprised? You must have heard of it, haven’t you?"
"I–I have, but... I always thought that it’s just a myth! Who the hell still hopes to find their true mate in this age and era?! Are you sure you’re not mistaken??"
"Trust me, I would have agreed with you if I hadn’t met him. Instead of a myth, I would call it destiny. You too," he softened his tone. "I hope one day you can find your true mate, regardless of who or where they are now."
Sirius let out a derisive scoff, his disdain apparent. "Heh, I would already be grateful if they didn’t wet their pants the moment they learned my identity. It’s even better if they didn’t become a burden. Forget it, why are we talking about this again? Ah, right, your mate. So the two of you are living together right now? Which one of you recognized the other person first, you or him? Have you felt something special towards him even from back then?"
Amused, He Juan remarked, "You seem awfully curious about mates."
"Cough!" Sirius cleared his throat loudly. "Nonsense, I am just asking to broaden my knowledge! It just happens that you’re the only person I can ask, so don’t let it get to your head! I would have asked Marius if he was here..." the last sentence was added in a soft grumble, but He Juan heard it nonetheless.
A prickle of guilt stabbed his heart.
Sirius was only close to either him or Marius, the two people with whom he could talk about anything and everything. And now that Marius was gone, of course He Juan had become the sole person he could rely on. Despite being surrounded by his vessels and numerous members of his clan, it did not mean Sirius could let his guard down, for he wouldn’t know when they would stab him in the back.
Sighing, He Juan finally steeled himself to propose, "Shall we meet up one of these days? Uh, maybe not this week because I have to go back-and-forth to the police station, how about the weekend? I’d like to see you, if you allow me to. You can also meet Mu Yuze. The two of you are Omegas, you must have a lot in common to talk about."
When he received nothing but silence from the other side, he became uncertain. Was it too early for him to request a direct meeting? After all, Sirius must need time to accept him into his life again. "Sirius?" He Juan called out tentatively. "It’s okay if you’re not willing. I understand that—"
"He..." Sirius interrupted him, his voice thick with hesitance. "I mean, your mate. Would he even want to meet me?"
"Why not?" He Juan asked with an arched brow. "You two played together when you were kids, remember?" He had just wanted to tell Sirius to make a visit here, but he held himself in the nick of time. His hunch told him that it wasn’t a good idea to invite another omega into their house, even if the said omega was their old acquaintance. After all, Mu Yuze had a possessive streak in him – he was the kind of person who would rather endure a stomachache by eating all of his birthday cake than to share it with others. As this thought flashed in his mind, He Juan smiled and changed his tune, "Well, let me ask his opinion first. If he agreed, we could meet up at Chen Youzhi’s place or wherever you’d like. Of course, if you’re willing to, that is."
Sirius let out a loud harrumph. "Why wouldn’t I? Do you think I’m afraid?" At the end of the sentence, he let out a huge yawn. He Juan glanced at the clock and was surprised to see how much time had passed.
"It’s late. You should go to rest now, we will talk again later."
Hanging up on the call, He Juan walked back to the bedroom and approached the bed in tiptoes. His heart almost burst out of his chest when he saw how comfortable and at ease Mu Yuze was on his bed, surrounded by his scent. Suppressing a smile, He Juan slowly sat on the bed and slipped beneath the blanket, pulling the omega close to him and spooning him from behind
"Gege...?" Mu Yuze murmured sleepily, his eyes still closed.
He Juan planted a kiss on the back of his neck. "Mn, it’s me. Sleep."
Mu Yuze leaned back into his chest and released a contented sigh. "You’re cold," he grumbled, but shortly after, his breathing evened out as he drifted back into a sweet slumber. Chuckling, He Juan drew the blanket tighter around them, nuzzling his cheek against Mu Yuze’s head and closed his eyes.

Going to the bed at wee hours in the morning proved to be detrimental to He Juan, as he woke up with a pounding headache that persisted even with the help of medicine. That was why his mood was low when he stepped into the city bureau for another interrogation session. Fortunately, the one sitting before him was his most favorite person in the world, which sort of distracted him from the discomfort.
"Let’s start," he stated, wishing to get this over soon.
And Mu Yuze, who had been fussing all over him since morning, seemed to share the same sentiments as he no longer opened the session with basic questions. Instead, he immediately went straight to the point, "Tell us everything about seven years ago, especially Xuanlong’s downfall and the accident that caused you to lose your memory."
Finally. Taking a deep breath, He Juan gazed at Mu Yuze and said softly, "It’s a little complicated to explain, but if you want to know everything, then let me start from the beginning of Xuanlong..."
.
Meanwhile, at the Yuyang Hospital Center, Luo Xuan was finishing his bland breakfast as usual.
Today, he perceived a subtle shift in the atmosphere other than the fact that all of the guards had been switched out since Ku Jin managed to fool them. The air seemed to vibrate with the aura of restlessness, and he finally learned the reason why when his attending doctor entered, accompanied by an officer behind him.
"Mr. Luo, today, the police insist that an interrogation session must be carried out," the doctor informed him. "Considering your health, I’ve allowed them two hours today. Please be rest assured, because I will be present throughout."
Luo Xuan maintained a calm expression, not even batting an eyelid, though his mind was currently in turmoil. What was going on? Why would the police suddenly make a move after monitoring him for over a month? What had triggered this? Did they find out something about Ku Jin? Whatever it was, this wasn’t good news for Luo Xuan. He had managed to stall until now using his health as the reason, but if the police chose to disregard that, it meant he had to bring his plans forward.
After confirming his future plans, Luo Xuan composed himself and replied lightly, "Sure, ask away." He shot a glance at the officer, gesturing for him to proceed.
Yet the man merely stood against the wall with his gaze straight ahead as if he wasn’t about to get involved at all.
Just as Luo Xuan was feeling confused, the door slid open once again and a familiar tall silhouette stepped in. The pressure in the air sank with each step he took. Despite the thick cast around his arm, he still managed to exude an imposing yet frivolous aura with his fashionable style of clothes, his long coat draping over his shoulders. Now Luo Xuan understood why everyone seemed restless.
"I hope I’m not late," Tak Jung-Hwa said, dragging a chair and settling beside the bed. He measured Luo Xuan with his sharp peach blossom eyes, a casual smile playing on his lips. "Nice to see you again. I will be questioning you for today. Let’s see... are you, by any chance, disappointed that I’m still alive?" The teasing lilt in his tone made it seem like he was mocking.
Luo Xuan’s fists tightened on the blanket, his eyes darkening. In the end, he forced a fake smile and responded, "Of course not. You have no idea how elated I am to see you again. I hope you’re recovering well." He cast a pointed look at Tak Jung-Hwa’s injured arm, a faint sneer forming on his lips.
The two people’s eyes clashed in midair, and a faint scent of gunpowder drifted out.
Oh, this was going to be one hell of a long two hours, wasn’t it?
