Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 664: Connect The Dots
Something to show me?
Intrigued, Mu Yuze followed He Juan into the room and he was instantly hit in the face by the saturated pheromones in the air. The scent of rosewood and whiskey lingered in every nook and cranny, seemingly as if it was suffused into the walls and floorboards.
Mu Yuze involuntarily sucked in a breath, his heart palpitating. His eyes shifted to the Alpha, who did not seem to realize anything as he walked toward the nightstand. Mu Yuze was a hundred percent certain that He Juan did not intend to do anything to him – yet – or else he would have acted as early as when they were alone back home rather than waiting until now.
Even when Mu Yuze had subtly given him the green light, He Juan still managed to restrain himself in the end. That was how remarkable this person’s self-control was. That’s why the thought of He Juan luring him here to have his way with him did not even cross his mind a bit.
However, the sheer intensity of these pheromones...
It was on the level He Juan had never released before.
There was only one explanation— He Juan was not even aware that he had marked the room with his pheromones. His movement was on a subconscious level, meaning that his rut might arrive at any moment.
All of a sudden, the puzzle pieces fell into place in Mu Yuze’s mind.
Was this the place where He Juan had planned to spend his rut in? If that was the case, then everything could be explained – Ye Qiu’s vague words earlier, and the fact how a man with average salary like Chen Youzhi could never afford a house in this upscale area.
Because this was not his house to begin with— this was He Juan’s temporary confines.
Mu Yuze was truly worthy of being the Violent Crime Unit’s ace. Just with little information, he was able to connect the dots and string together the whole truth with accuracy that exceeded ninety percent. He pursed his lips tight, fists clenched by his side.
He Juan, who was wholly oblivious that the omega had seen through him, retrieved an item from the nightstand drawer. "Here," he presented it to Mu Yuze, his expression unusually tense.
Setting aside his tangled thoughts, Mu Yuze looked down and saw a chain necklace with a plain platinum pendant in He Juan’s hand. It was an accessory both simple and chic, suitable for young men. However, Mu Yuze was never a fan of accessories and he was certain that He Juan was aware of that fact too. It meant that the item in He Juan’s hand couldn’t be a mere necklace, but something more. And He Juan’s expression had basically confirmed Mu Yuze’s conjecture.
"What is it?" He tilted his head to scrutinize the necklace. "A key to a secret room? A safety alarm? A bomb detonator or... a hidden tracker?"
He Juan blinked, taken aback by his wild and unexpected guesses. Then he burst out into a fit of hearty laughter. "Hahaha!"
"Am I wrong?" Mu Yuze muttered grumpily.
"No... you’re right." He Juan chuckled and wiped away the moisture on the corner of his eyes, a tender smile adorning his face – one that had never failed to make Mu Yuze feel warm. "As expected of Officer Mu, you can guess what this is immediately. There’s a tracker planted inside the pendant, and it can’t be detected by normal security measures. Will you... keep this with you?"
He Juan’s expression grew tense again, realizing how creepy it was to give a tracker to an omega. It was a blatant invasion of privacy, as He Juan would be able to monitor the omega’s whereabouts all the time simply by navigating the app on his phone.
Unable to read Mu Yuze’s expression, he felt compelled to explain more, "By now, I’m certain that Luo Xuan and Ku Jin have discovered our relationship. If they want to mess with me, the most effective way is to target you. Gege is not saying this to scare you, but in case... I’m saying just in case..." his words abruptly trailed off when Mu Yuze accepted the necklace and wore it around his neck.
The chain necklace suited him more than He Juan expected. It hung elegantly over his slender neck, and the platinum pendant complemented his fair complexion perfectly. Almost like a... collar.
He Juan gulped, but fortunately, Mu Yuze’s attention was fixed on the platinum pendant as he fiddled with it between his fingers. "Anything else?" he asked, catching He Juan utterly off guard.
"Huh?"
"Anything else you want me to wear?" Mu Yuze raised his head to meet his eyes. And within those midnight blue orbs, He Juan couldn’t find even an ounce of rejection. "I think the necklace can be easily lost. How about implanting the tracker directly into my body?"
"No, no need..." He Juan quickly shook his head, flabbergasted.
It wasn’t like such a thought had never crossed his mind before, but the mere thought of the knife cutting open Mu Yuze’s skin and causing him pain was enough to drive He Juan insane. He did not want any harm to come to Mu Yuze, especially not when it was his own request. Hence, he opted to settle with the necklace instead. He totally did not expect Mu Yuze to accept it without a word, or even suggest such an extreme method on his own accord. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Somehow, Mu Yuze’s calm acceptance managed to alleviate a tension He Juan hadn’t realized he was carrying, and his smile relaxed.
"Silly Xiao Ze," He Juan gently flicked his forehead, his smile helpless. "Don’t ever bring up something like that again, okay? I will never do anything that can harm you."
"I know." Gently grasping his hand, Mu Yuze muttered, "I know that you’re doing this for my own good, Gege, and I’m willing to comply as long as it’s within my capacity. But..." he chewed on his bottom lip, drawing He Juan’s attention there for a brief second before he forcibly averted his gaze away.
Unaware of that subtle movement from the Alpha, Mu Yuze continued, "Do you remember, Gege? I promised that I wouldn’t become your weakness, that I would grow strong enough so that you didn’t have to come to my rescue every single time..."
He Juan became momentarily dazed. Those familiar words managed to dredge up the dusty memories he thought he had forgotten— the thunder roaring in the sky, the heavy stench of blood on his body, and a small body who clung to him desperately despite his attempts to drive him away.
"I do not make promises I can’t keep," Mu Yuze declared, his beautiful dark eyes gleaming with an ethereal luster. It sounded like he was trying to prove himself, yet also soothing the concerns He Juan did not say out loud. "I am no longer the pitiful child I used to be, who could only hide behind your back and rely on your protection. That’s why, Gege... please allow me to become your strength."
