Chapter 185: Chapter 185: How Can You Be So Adorable

Yet, Old Mrs. Lowell remained convinced she had suffered hardships.

She had fully grasped the young girl’s background by now—aside from her identity as a member of the Prescott Family, there truly was nothing else to criticize. She was a clean and innocent young lady.

It’s just pitiful that she lost her mother at an early age, grew up in a medical practice, and walked a difficult path. As modern medicine advances, only those like them remain steadfast in preserving traditional Chinese medicine.

But.

Listening to her story, the headache was real; her excellence was an undeniable fact. She also believed this young girl would certainly achieve great things in the future.

If only she weren’t a member of the Prescott Family.

"Wearing so little, aren’t you cold?"

When Old Mrs. Lowell spoke with concern, a slight glimmer passed through Claire Prescott’s eyes.

She turned her head to look at the elegantly noble elder beside her.

Only then did she notice that her expression wasn’t as heavy as before, or perhaps when she actively started a conversation, the atmosphere had unknowingly warmed up.

Now, she felt exceedingly surprised and honored.

She shook her head and said, "I’m not cold."

"It’s important to dress appropriately as seasons change, don’t catch a cold."

"Okay, thank you for your concern."

Old Mrs. Lowell stubbornly said, "I’m only worried for my grandson."

Yet Claire Prescott took it to heart and sincerely said, "Don’t worry, I will be responsible for his health."

The words "responsible for his health" plunged Old Mrs. Lowell into silence; her gaze suddenly deepened as she looked at the reserved young girl sitting next to her. In the end, she didn’t say anything more.

No more words followed.

After arriving at Sinclair Apothecary, Claire Prescott bid farewell to the elder, hugged an electric incense burner, and got off the car. Only after seeing them off did she rush to the counter, excitedly telling the two men, "Look at what good thing I’ve brought back."

Tiger and the bodyguard brother both curiously leaned in at the same time.

"Sister Claire, what’s this?"

"An electric incense burner." As Claire Prescott unpacked it, she said to them, "I made a special trip to learn how to use it today, to replace the original incense method. Tiger, give me an Antidisease Pill, and I’ll show you how to use it."

"Okay."

Soon after, she demonstrated how to operate it for them.

After adding water, she placed the properly prepared incense pill on top, used tweezers to gently break it apart, and then closed the lid to power it on.

In just a moment.

A wisp of fragrance silently wafted from the burner.

Tiger couldn’t help but exclaim, "It indeed smells softer and better than the smoky incense. Sister Claire, you’re amazing."

Claire Prescott shook her head, "It’s not me who’s amazing; it’s the person who designed this incense burner. I’ve already purchased a batch of burners to bring back; they should be delivered by this afternoon. At that time, we’ll put one in each office area, and some you’ll take home to use. I’ll have to trouble you to teach them how to use it."

"Okay."

"Let’s leave this one with you guys for now; I’m going to rest for a while."

When other colleagues came back from lunch break and found the incense burner, they all curiously gathered around, offering unanimous praise, "It smells much better than the smoky incense indeed."

Tiger told them, "Sister Claire brought it back; everyone has one."

The old traditional Chinese medicine doctor entered from the backyard with hands clasped behind, noticing that the few of them were gathered at the counter, the air filled with a faint medicinal aroma.

He couldn’t help but walk over.

Upon seeing him, the colleagues at the practice quickly stepped aside, their demeanor instantly becoming respectful and reserved.

The old doctor wanted to join in on the fun and asked, "What’re you discussing?"

Tiger quickly replied, "Elder Sinclair, Sister Claire mentioned yesterday wanting to improve the incense method, and today she brought back this electric incense burner."

The old doctor observed the burner, caught the enchanting medicinal aroma emanating from it, and asked, "Steam distilled?"

"Steamed over water."

The old doctor nodded in satisfaction, "That girl indeed has a meticulous mind and high efficiency."

"She’s not an ordinary person since she was taught by you."

"She’s learned from more than just me; she’s better than me."

"Sinclair Apothecary will only get better in the future, as will Chinese medicine."

These words touched the old doctor’s heart, bringing a rare smile to his face, but not long after, he sent them back to their stations.

Yet.

The smile lingered all the way to his consulting room.

The National Day holiday schedule had been released, granting her and the old doctor each three days off, closing for the Mid-Autumn Festival, and others at the practice getting time off following the old doctor’s plan.

Thus.

For the first three days, Claire Prescott was alone at the practice, naturally moving her consulting room to the counter area, treating patients while dispensing medicine.

After dinner that evening.

She received a call from Keane Lowell.

She slipped out through the side door alone, and threw herself into Keane Lowell’s arms.

No more words.

Keane Lowell lowered his head and kissed her.

Under the hazy street lamp, by the black Maybach, with just a casual glance, one could see the two engaged in a passionate kiss.

Yet, the entire road was devoid of pedestrians, allowing Keane Lowell to grow increasingly bold, holding her waist tighter as if to crush her.

Claire Prescott tried to retreat, but the man wouldn’t allow it, pressing her against the car, advancing into an even deeper kiss, like a beast that hadn’t feasted in ages.

Despite having tried many ways of kissing before, nothing matched his fervor, and only when she ran out of breath did Keane Lowell reluctantly let go, seeing her panting appearance, he whispered, "Baby."

A shiver ran down her spine.

Seeing his unabashed gaze, she knew what he wanted.

"Why’s the fire burning so fiercely today, do you need me to prescribe something?"

"You’re my medicine."

And so.

That night.

Keane Lowell took her to the hotel close to Sinclair Apothecary.

It was still the same luxurious suite; as soon as they walked in, Keane Lowell skillfully peeled off her clothes, removing layer after layer of obstacles...

Only after a long time.

Keane Lowell embraced her sweaty body from behind, lying on the spacious bed, savoring the lingering aftermath, and after a while, asked, "Did you run into my grandmother today?"

"Mhm."

"What did she say?"

"Just a simple chat. I felt she didn’t seem to dislike me that much; perhaps she still couldn’t accept my status as part of the Prescott Family." As she spoke, she turned in his embrace to meet those profound eyes.

Lightly, she gave his chin a quick peck.

Keane Lowell’s gaze slightly deepened, "It must’ve been hard for you."

"It wasn’t that bad. She didn’t scold me, didn’t tell me to leave you, that’s already pretty good."

Keane Lowell’s Adam’s apple bobbed, fixing his gaze on her clear and enchanting eyes, a certain softness in his heart seemed to be tightly squeezed, "You’re just so..."

"What?"

"How can you be so likable?"

Once again, Claire Prescott was stirred by his words, sending shivers all over. Before she could recover, Keane Lowell uncontrollably pulled her tighter, entrapping her in another round of ultimate passion.
