Chapter 81: As long as I hold onto you, the ruins can’t separate us

The King’s Ruins were unexpectedly vast. Carlotta had been wandering for a long time without finding Amelia or anyone from the Rose Pirate Crew. Instead, she encountered some unfamiliar pirates.

She tried to approach them to gather some information, but as a sixth-tier apprentice, not every pirate was willing to answer her questions. Many chose to attack her instead.

Carlotta didn’t hold back either, swiftly dispatching them with a couple of strikes.

After encountering many people, Carlotta managed to gather some information. Some pirates who had entered the ruins later than her even told her one thing: the Soul Reaper Pirate Crew had over a thousand members who entered the ruins.

"No wonder they managed to gather over thirty people so quickly... But out of a thousand, gathering thirty so fast is still quite lucky," Carlotta thought to herself. She felt her luck was terrible, not encountering a single member of the Rose Pirate Crew.

After a long time, she took out her clock card and glanced at it. The time now pointed to eight in the evening.

She looked up at the sky, which was still a deep blue, with sunlight interwoven. It seemed that in the King’s Ruins, there was no distinction between day and night.

"Roar!"

A Dreamhorn Deer appeared in the woods ahead. This magical creature wasn’t large, but it could create dreams, silently leading its victims to their demise.

As soon as Carlotta saw the Dreamhorn Deer, she sensed a mental attack coming her way.

The Dreamhorn Deer’s dream attack was naturally no problem for her. With a swift movement, she appeared before the deer, and with a single stroke of her sword, she killed it.

Then came the bleeding, skinning, setting up a fire, and starting the barbecue, all done effortlessly.

As Carlotta was roasting the meat, her ears twitched, and she looked towards the bushes ahead.

Soon, a person emerged from the bushes.

It was a woman, tall with a wheat-colored complexion.

"Lady Red Rose."

Upon seeing Carlotta, the woman immediately approached and greeted her respectfully.

Carlotta examined her for a moment and finally remembered who she was.

This was a female pirate named Estelle, originally the leader of a small pirate crew. Later, she was subdued by Amelia and should be on the list of soldiers.

Estelle specialized in Water Magic path and was an eighth-tier apprentice, quite outstanding among the pirate leaders who had joined.

Seeing Estelle, Carlotta suddenly realized something.

Amelia had the list of soldiers, and all the pirates brought into the King’s Ruins were on that list. So, for Amelia, it was possible to know the location of all her pirates as soon as they entered and gather them together.

The only person whose location Amelia couldn’t immediately know was Carlotta herself.

Carlotta immediately asked, "Apart from me, have all the rest of you gathered together?"

Estelle nodded, "Yes, after we all gathered, Lady White Rose had us disperse to look for you, Lady Red Rose."

Carlotta said, "I understand the situation. Wait for me for a while. After I finish roasting this meat, take me to Amelia."

Estelle obediently waited nearby.

Although these pirates were under Amelia’s control, they didn’t dare to slight Carlotta, knowing that Amelia and Carlotta had a special relationship.

Those who had been subdued earlier even revealed a piece of information to her, indicating that the two ladies were in a relationship, intertwined with each other. Therefore, treating Carlotta required the same respect as treating Amelia.

Carlotta had no idea what Estelle was thinking. After roasting a few pieces of venison, she extinguished the fire.

She took a couple of bites of the venison, finding the taste mediocre. After all, she wasn’t much of a cook, but it was edible.

"Let’s go, take me to Amelia," Carlotta instructed Estelle.

Estelle respectfully acknowledged and led the way.

The two quickly made their way through the dense forest, arriving at a lake in about half an hour.

By the lake, many pirates were stationed, all members of the Rose Pirate Crew.

Amelia was naturally there as well.

Even though she used a Illusion Mask to conceal her true appearance, Amelia, standing by the lake, still exuded an indescribable charm, her hair fluttering like a fairy in a painting.

Carlotta scanned the area around the lake and noticed that a battle had recently taken place. The signs of the fight were quite obvious, and it seemed to have been between people.

Though she didn’t know who had clashed with Amelia, there was no doubt that the bodies of those people had been sunk to the bottom of the lake.

"Amelia, are you okay?" Carlotta approached, looking her up and down.

Amelia smiled, "Of course, I’m fine."

She brushed her hair and told Carlotta that they needed to be cautious of the Soul Reaper Pirate Crew. She also knew that over a thousand members of the Soul Reaper Pirate Crew had entered the ruins, and their attitude towards the Rose Pirate Crew wasn’t favorable.

It seemed that the fact that the leader and deputy leader of the Rose Pirate Crew were only apprentices made the Soul Reaper Pirate Crew look down on them.

Hearing this, Carlotta’s expression turned, "Those who died here were from the Soul Reaper Pirate Crew?"

Amelia nodded.

Carlotta laughed, "I know about these guys. I ran into them earlier."

She briefly mentioned her encounter, not going into detail, only saying that she left no survivors.

Amelia was surprised that Carlotta had already had a similar experience, sighing, "It’s a pity that in this place, I can’t summon the Moonlight. It might be judged as exceeding the apprentice level."

If the Moonlight could be summoned, even if it couldn’t move on land, it would still be a powerful weapon, almost invincible at the apprentice level.

Carlotta smiled, "That’s not necessarily a bad thing. If we can’t bring out such things, it means others can’t either."

Amelia nodded, agreeing with Carlotta.

Without such restrictions, the top ten pirate crews might indeed bring out something troublesome. These people, who had roamed the Starlight Sea for years, couldn’t be underestimated.

The two chatted in low voices for a while, and then Amelia led the group to continue exploring the King’s Ruins. So far, they had only encountered magical creatures and other pirates, and their understanding of the King’s Ruins was still insufficient.

When they started moving, Carlotta realized that the Rose Pirate Crew had only ninety people left, with ten having met with accidents during the gathering process.

Not every apprentice had Carlotta’s strength, and with the initial forced random allocation of positions, some casualties were inevitable.

Over the next few hours, Carlotta and her group traveled through various parts of the King’s Ruins, encountering many monsters and pirates, but their gains were minimal.

This continued until the early hours of the morning.

"Let’s take a break."

The approach of dawn rejuvenated Carlotta.

Using rest as an excuse, she sat under a tree and silently summoned the information panel to take a look.

[ 1: The method of roasting venison can vary depending on the materials available...]

The first piece of information left Carlotta somewhat speechless. Was the intelligence system criticizing her venison roasting skills?

Although it was a bit frustrating, this kind of information wasn’t entirely useless. Mastering the art of roasting would at least ensure better meals while staying in the wild.

[ 2: Chaos has erupted on Lionheart Island as General Soul Reaper attacked the Blaze Pirate Crew and the Silver Hook Pirate Crew, forcing General Blaze and General Silver Hook to land on Lionheart Island, leading to a three-way melee.]

Carlotta raised an eyebrow at this.

Although she felt that staying outside wasn’t necessarily safe, the fact that the melee had started so quickly was still somewhat surprising.

She wondered how Julia and others were doing. With their strength, they should be fine.

If something had happened, the intelligence would have informed her. Since it didn’t mention anything, they must be safe.

Carlotta put aside her thoughts and looked at the third piece of information.

There were only three pieces of information today, and the third one... seemed to have a bit more content?

[ 3: The King’s Ruins are divided into three levels. The first level requires fending off endless monsters and finding the correct path. The checkpoint location is shown by the red dot (a map), and the way to pass is... The checkpoint location for the second level is here (a map), and the way to pass is... The way to pass the third level is...]

A large amount of information appeared before Carlotta’s eyes.

Especially the part about the third level, which contained so much information that Carlotta felt a bit dizzy just reading it.

In comparison, the descriptions for the first two levels were relatively simple.

’So, I now know how to clear the King’s Ruins? Does that mean the Pirate King’s treasure is already mine?’

Carlotta’s expression was subtle. She was clearly cheating.

Among the three levels left by the King’s Ruins, the first two were manageable, but the last one... was it even meant to be cleared?

Reading the information, Carlotta even felt her scalp tingling. She believed that anyone facing this level would likely fail, but those challenges were no longer a problem for her. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

Just thinking about getting her hands on the Pirate King’s treasure made Carlotta’s heart race.

"Amelia, I’m rested. Let’s go."

Carlotta didn’t want to waste any more time and quickly moved in a certain direction.

Seeing this, Amelia immediately followed with her people.

The group hadn’t decided on a direction earlier and had been exploring randomly, so when they saw Carlotta moving, they naturally followed.

With Carlotta leading the way, the group walked in a straight line, and within half an hour, they saw a massive dark passage ahead.

Around the passage, many pirates were gathered, looking troubled.

"It’s the Rose Pirate Crew!"

When they saw Carlotta and Amelia’s arrival, the pirates’ expressions changed, and they instinctively stepped back, not daring to approach.

Amelia’s eyes lit up as she scanned the area, and she immediately sent Estelle to inquire about the situation.

Getting information wasn’t difficult, and Estelle quickly returned with the news.

"Ladies, according to these pirates, the King’s Ruins might be divided into different levels. This is the entrance to the next level, but to pass, one must pass a test."

As she spoke, Estelle pointed to a stone at the entrance of the passage.

It was a peculiar stone with an automatic repair effect. No matter what attack landed on it, it would quickly repair itself.

However, not everyone’s attack could leave a mark on it, as the stone itself was extremely hard.

Estelle continued, "According to the others, only those who can leave a mark on this stone can proceed to the next level. Otherwise, even if you approach the passage, you’ll be thrown back."

Amelia pondered this and immediately had her pirates try their luck.

Carlotta wasn’t in a hurry to act. She already knew the requirements for the first level through intelligence, and compared to the others, the first level was relatively simple.

The pirates lingering around were undoubtedly those who couldn’t leave a mark on the stone. Now, seeing the Rose Pirate Crew members attacking the stone, they watched from a distance.

As each member of the Rose Pirate Crew took their turn, Amelia quickly made a judgment.

"Around sixth-tier apprentices and above can leave a mark. Below sixth-level, unless the attack is particularly fierce, it’s difficult to leave a mark."

Amelia murmured.

If that was the case, then she could only take a few people to the second level.

Excluding herself and Amelia, she could only take nine more people.

After the rest of the Rose Pirate Crew had attacked the stone, Amelia didn’t need to use any memory magic. She casually took a sword and slashed it, leaving a mark.

The mark quickly repaired itself.

Carlotta also came over and casually slashed the stone, leaving a mark without any surprise.

"Carlotta, we can only take eleven people down. What do you think?"

Amelia asked.

Carlotta thought for a moment and said, "Actually, having more people down there might not be useful. I think it’s enough for us to go down. The others can stay here."

"Not taking a few more?"

"No need."

"Then let them stay here."

Amelia was quite receptive to Carlotta’s suggestions and immediately ordered the group to retreat from the area and find a safe spot to wait.

Then, under the envious gazes of the pirates, she and Carlotta entered the cave.

As soon as they entered, Amelia couldn’t help but ask, "Carlotta, do you think we’ll be randomly assigned different positions again?"

This question stumped Carlotta. The intelligence hadn’t mentioned this.

Almost instinctively, Carlotta grabbed Amelia’s hand, "I don’t know, but as long as I hold onto you, the ruins can’t separate us, right?"
