Celestial Speed: Legacy-Chapter 73: Game Over
Henry’s eyes went wide as he stared at the creature in horror. It was like something out of a nightmare, a monstrous creature from the depths of the desert, and it seemed to be interested in Henry.
But Henry didn’t linger around for introductions, he bolted from the area.
"Really mum? Not even a warning," he voiced out with displeasure.
But Felicity simply chuckled. "In real life, you don’t get warnings dear. And don’t forget, you can’t get help from the system or use any other type of boost. That’s how the academy exam is, so you must learn to rely only on your natural speed and nothing else," she explained with a wide smile, she was clearly enjoying the situation Henry was in.
Henry sighed, he could hear her smile beaming through her voice, but he had no choice. He had to survive without any his boosts.
The creature began to move, its body undulating and flexing as it chased after Henry. It was incredibly fast, its speed almost matching Henry’s as he sprinted across the desert.
Henry’s heart was racing as he ran, his senses on high alert as he tried to outrun the creature. He could hear its roar behind him, a deafening sound that seemed to shake the very foundations of the desert.
The creature’s hot breath washed over Henry’s back, making his skin crawl with fear. He knew that if he didn’t outrun it, he would be consumed by its massive, gaping maw.
With a surge of adrenaline, Henry poured on the speed, his feet pounding the desert sand as he desperately tried to escape the creature’s deadly pursuit. The outcome was far from certain, but one thing was clear; Henry’s life depended on his ability to outrun the monstrous creature behind him.
Henry sprinted across the desert sand, his feet pounding the ground in a desperate bid to outrun the monstrous worm.
Henry’s heart was racing, his senses on high alert as he frantically searched for a way to escape. He dodged and weaved obstacles, using every trick in the book to stay ahead of the worm.
But the worm was relentless, its sole goal to consume Henry. It gained speed, its massive body undulating and flexing as it closed in on its prey.
Henry knew he couldn’t outrun the worm forever. He needed a new strategy, something to give him an edge. He began to observe his surroundings closely, and that’s when he spotted a narrow canyon in the distance, its walls steep and treacherous.
"I could use this to gain more distance," he thought, having noticed the canyon’s ground surface. It seemed to be made of a pure, hard crystalline rock, one the worm shouldn’t be able to penetrate.
Without hesitation, Henry made a beeline for the canyon, the worm mere seconds behind. He sprinted into the canyon, using the walls to his advantage as he dodged and weaved through the narrow passageway.
The worm was too big to follow Henry into the canyon, but it didn’t give up. Instead, it began to burrow into the solid rocky ground, its massive body tunneling through the ground with ease.
Henry’s eyes widened in dismay, he was wrong. The hard surface didn’t stop the worm at all, infact burrowing into the crystalline floor looked like a piece of cake for it.
"Uhh... That’s not good," Henry muttered, a sense of panic washing over him. He knew he had to move fast if he wanted to survive. He sprinted through the canyon, his feet pounding the ground as he desperately sought a way out.
But the worm was too fast. It burst out of the ground mere feet behind Henry, its jaws wide open as it prepared to strike.
Henry made a final, desperate attempt to escape, but it was too late, his time perception couldn’t even activate in time, he had lost this one. The worm’s jaws closed around him, and everything went black.
Henry fell to the ground, the desert landscape disappearing as the simulation ended. He lay there, panting and exhausted, as Felicity’s voice came through the speakers.
"Simulation ended," she said, her tone neutral. "You survived for 3 minutes and 12 seconds. Not bad, but you can do better."
Henry slowly got to his feet, rubbing his sore muscles. He knew he had a long way to go before he could outrun a monster like that. But he was determined to try.
Then Felicity appeared before him, smiling cheekily. "Aww, you poor thing," she said, looking at Henry who was disoriented and exhausted. Turns out he might have not been prepared mentally for death.
"I... I could feel it, I could feel my soul slipping out of my body," he panted with a traumatic expression. "It felt so real,"
Felicity brought him into her embrace and patted his head. "There, there. It’s mummy’s fault, I should have reduced the perception meter," she muttered softly
But Henry raised a brow in confusion. "What are you doing?" he asked
"I’m consoling you ofcourse, aren’t you shocked from the death experience?" she replied, releasing him from her embrace
Henry shook his head. "Shocked? Why would i be? It was exhilarating! I want to go again," he exclaimed with excitement, looking more motivated than ever.
Felicity stared at him in shock for a while, before bursting into laughter. "Hahaha! And here i thought my baby was in peril. Turns out, you were just excited," she stated
"Ofcourse i was, i enjoyed every moment of it. Though i admit that i got a little carried away, it felt so real. Besides i’ve died once before, remember? I’m not that scared of death anymore," Henry replied casually
Felicity chuckled. "That’s great to hear, Henry," she said
"This is really good, he seems to be making progress. He now derives fun from something other than killing and doesn’t seem to be obsessed with the thought of death anymore," she stated inwardly. Taking mental notes on Henry... Well Scar’s change in persona. She was a therapist afterall, and the boy smiling excitedly in her front, was her patient. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
"Alright, you can try again some other time. For now, let’s go home," she added to which Henry responded with a nod. Then she snapped her fingers and teleported herself and Henry back to the Glacial palace.
