Chapter 293: The night begins - I

Gia bit The inside of her cheek, still considering what Evelyn had told her. The gamble was pretty big. She had to betray her current employer and listen to the woman who could be bluffing.

But she also knew that Evelyn could give her a hundred million dollars without batting an eyelash just because she saved her.

That was something, Evelyn knew, Gia was not very to risk.

"It’s midnight here, for France," she said, " I know an exit and I will take you when we have the window. But for now you go according to the plan the boss decided for you."

"W-what?" Shock rippled in at the unexpected words. Carry on with what might have decided her for tonight?

"No," Evelyn shook her head, "you have to take me now!"

Gia glared at her. "Listen, I understand that you are desperate but you have to understand that if I take you out now and someone catches us, I get killed and you get sold."

Which was definitely the worst thing to happen and Evelyn had to agree.

It was better than going through some of it rather than having to go through all of it and ending up on the worst side of the situation.

"How will you get me out?"

Gia walked behind her and started to fiddle with the ropes while whispering, "The hall that you are going to be in, it will be all men. So I will not be there and that will be the window for me to park a getaway car and get you out of here."

She opened the roots that tide Evelyn’s legs to the chair. Gia Had also opened the ropes and bound her hands but the moment Evelyn stood up, retied a different rope.

This rope was different and Evelyn realised at the moment she looked at it.

It was more like a lease that was placed on a dog. A thin rope with two collars that were around her wrist, binding them together.

"Come on," Gia thugged her forward like whatever they had discussed a few moments ago had never happened. She slipped into her role effortlessly and for once, Evelyn was reassured that she would be able to find a way out.

The dog leash made her feel exactly the way Matt wanted.

A prisoner, someone whose life was in the hands of someone else.

With her hands in front of her, Evelyn followed Gia unsurprisingly Kem out of the building that they were in only to stand in front of a car.

Gia turned to her, "they are going to blindfold you." Gia whispered cautiously and hardly before moving away and letting the main type of clothes around Evelyn’s eyes.

The moment her sight was stripped away from her, Evelyn felt more vulnerable than ever.

She felt his grip on her arm, it tightened as he made her move forward and shoved inside the car.

Once inside, she could feel the hum of the car and tilted her head up so that she could see something.

That was useless. There was no sound as soft piano music was played through the speakers behind her, it silenced any voice that came from the traffic outside.

They had carefully thought all of this. With sight and hearing gone, Evelyn was unable to detect anywhere she was.

She tried to count minutes in her head. Starting from one and going over the same number again and again, unable to keep the anticipation and fear at bay.

She fisted her dress. Was Gia really going to help her? Could Evelyn really trust someone she did not know? But that was her only opportunity..

Evelyn bit her lip to stop herself from crying. She was going to die.

****

The car stopped again. This might have been the thousandth times the car has stopped.

At first, Evelyn had assumed that they had reached where the selling was going to take place, but the car started to move again. It stopped again and again only for her to realise that they were going through some kind of traffic.

But this time the car did not move and she heard the door being opened and slammed close. Her door opened and she scrambled to get to the other side only for a hand to group at home and pull her out harshly.

She heard movement. A lot of people were around her and she was not talking about the men that stood guard or were soldiers. She was talking about the female whimpers and cries that she heard.

She was not alone, she realised. There were others that were being sold tonight and the loud chatter that she heard definitely had to be the men that had come here to become buyers. She kept on moving where the man dragged her too, thinking about what was happening.

It was real. She was going to witness sex trafficking.

Another door opened, Countess of them were opening round her and Evelyn lost count. She was shoved inside before the blindfold was ripped away from her eyes.

She gasped at the sight of the man in front of her but instead of giving into her thoughts and doing what she had imagined him too, he turned around and left closing the behind him.

He left—

A sniff met her turn around and that was when Evelyn met her...them.

Countless of girls were placed against each other in the corner, hurdling to get some warmth in the small piece of clothes that had been given to them to wear.

"Yo-you," One of them stammered, looking at Evelyn with warm and inviting eyes while her body kept on shaking in fear and cold, "you can join."

She could.

Evelyn could not leave them, she realised as she looked at the faces of the young girls, younger than her. She could not go away with her runaway plan, leaving all of them here to be sold.

She had to do something.
