Chapter 74: You don’t know that

__Dear Valerie,

The weather is getting cold these days so make sure to wear the scarf I gave you every day. It’s no good if you catch a cold. You’re a serious ~~learner~~ student so I’m sure you’ll feel devastated if you can’t read and have to lie in bed all day. It’s an awful feeling. I felt the same about two months ago cause I caught a cold out of ~~no~~ nowhere. Haha.

Anyway, the feelings I have for you, I hope they end up melting the iceberg that has ~~pushed~~ surrounded your heart. I may sound insensitive but I’m just worried for you. The warmth that you crave for, I’ll do my best to give it to you so please stay with me for a very ~~very~~ long time.

My feelings are no longer of mere infatuation or interest but I believe I’ve fallen for you. We’re still young so I understand if you don’t feel ~~same~~ the same, but I’ll gladly wait for you, no matter how long it takes.

The reason I didn’t say these words directly to you is because I didn’t want to pressure you, facing a guy who suddenly confesses his feelings isn’t the best way. We’re dating but it doesn’t mean you’re obligated to like me so I’ll be patient. With this, I hope you feel much more comfortable around me.

Yours truly, Maximus

P. S: don’t mind the mistakes. Pretty please ಥ‿ಥ

Valerie bowed her head, blushing. She didn’t expect to read such a thing. Why would he write her such a thing?

"He said he likes me." She muttered and that thought stayed on her mind the whole night till the next day. She decided she would reply with words but she could not find him.

At first, she waited for him to approach like usual but he did not and she didn’t even see him in class.

He was absent from the first two classes and it got her a little bit concerned. So, she did something she had never done before. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

She got up from her seat and approached his friends.

"Where’s Max?" She asked, stunning them.

They looked at her seat. Aside from that seat, they couldn’t remember any time when she walked to some other part of the classroom. It was like the back was her territory and she never left it for fear that someone else would dominate it.

"Why are you looking for him?" Brian asked, acting a little hostile. "Do you want to send him on an errand again?"

Valerie was silent, staring with disinterest at the guys whom Max called his friends. It looked like they weren’t going to tell her so she decided to just find him on her own.

But as she walked away from them, Lance answered,

"He’s in the infirmary." Valerie paused for a second and then resumed her walk.

"Hey, why did you tell her?" Brian asked him.

"She’s his girlfriend. She must be worried at the least." Lance defended but Brian could not be easily convinced.

"As if! She’s probably going to make him do stuff while he’s not feeling too good."

"You don’t know that." Lance said, staring at her table that she had perfectly cleared up before leaving. "Would someone who rarely left her seat suddenly stand up just because she wants to send her boyfriend on an errand?"

"If it’s her, I’m sure she’d do it." Brian spat out and rested his back on his chair. "Jeez, that girl is impossible to get."

"Who knows? She might have that idea but maybe she’ll change her mind after seeing him." He muttered.

Valerie made her way to the infirmary and walked in.

"Can I help you?" The nurse asked and Valerie looked past her at the resting beds with curtains.

"I’m looking for Maximus from class five." She said, and the nurse looked at her records.

"Are you a friend?" She asked and Valerie paused. Friend?

"Yes." She answered.

"Hm, there’s someone in there as well, but I’m sure you’ll know her since you’re both friends." The nurse said. "Just go to the last bed. He’s there."

She slightly bowed her head in appreciation and walked past the beddings. The curtains blocked people from seeing the people occupying the beds from the door or the nurse’s table.

’She said he has a friend with him.’ she thought. ’A girl. Does he have a female friend that I don’t know of? I don’t know a lot about him, but...’

She paused just before the last bed and thought to herself, ’Max is very popular and at a time when he’s defenseless, there might be a lot of people who’d try to take advantage of his vulnerability to get close to him.’ she thought and that got her angry.

Who was it that was trying to take what was hers?

She walked forward and just as she suspected, it was indeed a suspicious person. She wasn’t even in their class and what she was doing... Valerie’s eyes twitched and she grabbed the girl’s hair, dragging her say from Max and causing her to exclaim in pain and shock.

"Who...? What are you doing?" She winched in pain but Valerie glared at her.

"What do you think you’re doing to my boyfriend?" She questioned her and the lady flinched, fearing that she had been caught.

"W-what do you mean? I wasn’t doing anything." She immediately denied but Valerie knew what she saw.

This girl was leaning over and trying to steal a kiss from Max’s lips. The lips that belonged to her. Those soft and warm lips.

Thinking about it, she got even more furious and increased her grip on her hair.

"Ah, let go. That hurts." She cried in pain.

"This is a warning." Valerie said, glaring down at her like she would skin her alive. "Stay away from him. He’s mine. I won’t tell him that some random girl tried to steal a kiss from him while he was asleep but if I see you near him, even by an inch then consider yourself dead." She threatened and let go.

The girl got angry at her own humiliation and yelled.

"What are you even talking about? How am I sure you’re not just making this up because you like him too?"

"You want proof?" Valerie asked and walked to Max. She tapped his shoulder, gently waking him up and he opened his eyes.

He was a bit dazed at the fact that she came to the infirmary to see him. Did his plan work?

"Valerie, what...?"

"I want a kiss." She straightforwardly requested. Max looked at her, shocked. Then, he saw the other girl standing with a fuming head.

He didn’t know what was going on but he believed this opportunity would not present itself again if he denied it this time, so he grabbed her head and pulled her in, crashing his lips on hers.

The girl saw this and was in shock before storming out. She didn’t want to get pulled into this.

Valerie watched from her side eye as the girl ran but did not stop the kiss. She enjoyed it. Their tongues were battling with each other and the sound of smacking lips got her head feeling hazy but she liked it too much to stop.

It was so sensual and satisfying, but... She wanted more.
