Chasing The Vengeful Villainous Heiress-Chapter 75: A date at the movies
Valerie sat quietly on the bed while Max stared at her with a certain smirk on his lips. He didn’t know what happened while he was asleep but he liked the result.
Valerie asked for a kiss. He couldn’t believe it.
He was still on cloud nine when Valerie said,
"It doesn’t seem like you’re sick at all." He froze. Did she catch on?
"What do you mean? I couldn’t stay in class because my belly ached so I came to the infirmary to rest." He said but she still kept her head down. "How would you be able to tell anyway? Did you look through my records?"
"Your mouth," she said, "There was no single strange taste. No lingering taste of pills taken. You’re either lying or you didn’t take medication for your ’stomach ache’."
Once again, Max froze. To think she’d use that method to observe. He darted his eyes aside. He didn’t expect them to kiss out of the blue and such an intense kiss too.
"To tell the truth," he said, "I just wanted to sleep since I couldn’t get any proper sleep last night."
"And why did you not get any proper sleep?" She asked and though surprised that she even bothered to ask, he answered,
"I was just wondering how you would react to the letter I wrote." He said and she flinched. That was it? "I made a lot of mistakes and I was too impatient to write it all over so I gave it to you like that. I’m not an expert when it comes to writing letters so I was worried you would look down on it and..."
"No." She covered her mouth. "It was okay." She said. "Thank you."
"And?" He asked, expecting to hear more about the letter and she looked at him, wondering what he wanted.
"And?" She tilted her head.
"Valerie, do you have anything to say to me?" He asked. "Concerning the letter, at least. Was there something you wanted to say after reading it?"
He drew closer and her eyes instinctively fell on his lips.
"Nothing at all?"
Max stared at her. He knew he was rushing it but he wanted to at least hear her thoughts on it. He wanted to know if she held even a little bit of interest in him.
"It was crappily written." She suddenly said and got up, confusing him.
"What?"
"If you’re feeling better, come to class so you can learn how to write a letter properly." She said and walked away.
Max was silent. Haha, he didn’t think it’d be so easy to hear a confession from her. He was so close, honestly. He swiped his hair back. Well, he’d have to work harder.
He returned to the class to see Valerie writing on her note as usual. He dropped her usual bottle of milk on her table, smiled at her, and kissed her cheek.
"Study hard."
This PDA got everyone talking but what they were talking about more was Valerie’s indifference and how she was so calm when the most handsome guy in school was doing everything to please her.
After the letter, there was the sweet he got for her all of a sudden, making her wonder if there was a special occasion. He just said he wanted her to try something new and once again, she felt warm inside.
Days passed and turned into weeks. Their relationship was seen as a one-sided pursuit but no one knew that Valerie felt very happy just being loved by someone. She didn’t know it herself but she had started falling for him and wanted to spend every moment with him.
"Hm, I feel there’s something new about Valerie." Lucas suddenly said one day as both he and Lucy watched her walk up the stairs after returning from school.
"Hm, you don’t say. She looks rather happy." Lucy said.
"How can you tell? She doesn’t even smile." Lucas pointed out.
"I can’t explain it but I feel it. She isn’t as gloomy as she’s always been. Is there something nice in that school of hers?"
They wondered and saw Frankie coming down the stairs to get Valerie’s dinner ready.
"Ugh, that girl again. She’s such an eyesore." Lucy exclaimed as she watched Frankie but Lucas had a different thought.
"I think she’s kinda cute." He said, licking his lips in a sultry way and Lucy looked at her brother like he was weird.
"Jeez, you need to refine your taste."
In any case, she wanted to keep her eye on Valerie and know why her gloomy eyes were being filled with life.
The next day was a Saturday and coincidentally, Max had asked Valerie out on a date so Lucy decided to follow her with Lucas.
Valerie wore the scarf he gave her just to show that she was indeed using it and hadn’t abandoned it in a corner.
’Should I get him a gift?’ she wondered.
They were meeting at a movie theater. She said she had never visited one so he decided to take her to watch a movie.
’Most of my firsts are with him.’ she thought to herself, clutching her bag.
Her heart was beating awfully fast that she felt she was having a heart attack, and she couldn’t calm her nerves.
’I feel so elated for some reason.’
She arrived at the movie theater and met Max. He dressed simply just like her and she was glad she did not underdress. But when with his simple dressing, he still glowed.
’Do I pale in comparison?’ she wondered, secretly looking at her outfit. She wore a beret on her head after leaving her hair to flow freely and wore a crop top, a short skirt, and boots. Since she was wearing a crop top, her belly was fairly exposed and her long legs were on display thanks to her short skirt.
Max observed her. She looked great. She was very beautiful with fair skin, long legs, and her long black hair that looked so slick, but... He eyed the people glancing at her. He didn’t like that others were staring at her.
He took off his jacket and towed it around his waist, smiling in accomplishment to himself.
"There. You look perfect." He said, and she almost blushed but she was able to compose herself. "I’ll go get the tickets. Wait here." He said and she nodded.
Once he was gone, her heartbeat accelerated once more.
But she could not dwell in the joy for long since he returned shortly after.
"Let’s go." He grabbed her hand and started leading her through the crowd.
She watched his back and then looked at his hand. This feeling... She liked it a lot.
But what was this feeling that someone was following her?
She glanced back. There were so many people. She was probably just imagining it.
"So, that bitch got herself a boyfriend. And a good-looking one at that. What a bitch?!" Lucy said, folding her arms.
"Who would’ve thought?" Lucas added, taking off his shades. "Well, we can’t have that, can we?" He grinned.
