Chimaera's Conquest: The Legend Of The Devourer-Chapter 160: Secrets Revealed (2)
Chapter 160: Secrets Revealed (2)
After chatting a while longer and learning about the Church and the newly installed defences, Adrian was about to end their little get-together. But he had a final question to ask of Bellion.
"What about me?" Adrian mumbled. "Who gave you the contract to kill me?"
"You know I can’t tell you that." frёewebηovel.cѳm
Adrian was surprised to hear those words coming out of Bellion’s mouth. After ensuring Bellion was still under his control, Adrian asked him again, but Bellion’s response remained the same.
Even under Adrian’s influence, Bellion wasn’t going to abandon his ’morals’ as an assassin and leak his client’s name. But there were ways to say things without uttering them, and Adrian’s control compelled Bellion to find a way to convey the truth, which he did.
"I can’t tell you the names, but I can tell you this," Bellion replied. "There were more the seven contracts offered to us all demanding your death. Five came from the Church, and the other two... were private requests from people you already know."
Adrian didn’t know how to react to that news. All along, he thought only one person wanted him gone, but now he realised there were many who wished the same.
He thought he had been kind and just to everyone, but it appeared not everyone thought the same of him and wanted him dead.
"Vincent, or someone related to him, has to be one of the two clients that I know of," Adrian mumbled. "As for the contracts from the Church, I don’t care about those. But who is the other client?"
Adrian turned to find a way to force Bellion to reveal the name. But before he could do anything, the Raven guildmaster raised his hands and surrendered.
He wasn’t going to say a word even if Adrian killed him. And getting someone like Bellion to open his mouth by force was impossible. If he didn’t give in to Adrian’s deadliest weapon, the Kitsune eyes, there was no way to force him to tell the truth.
Watching Adrian wonder about the hidden enemy was fun—almost as much fun as torturing an innocent person to admit to a heinous crime. But under the eye’s influence, Bellion had a sudden urge to help him, which led to him giving the Chimaera another clue.
"I’m crossing the line, but here’s a final clue," Bellion said with a sadistic smile. "It’s someone quite close to you. Someone you won’t believe even if I took their name outright."
"Stop with your mind games," Adrian cut him off. "You’ve done more than enough already. Just call Tim and get me out of this maze."
"Oh, so you realised?" Bellion said with a smile. "Looks like I have underestimated the Analyst quite a bit."

As Tim entered the room, he saw Red and Bellion sitting together, chatting like long-lost friends. It was weird to see them like that, especially since it was the third time they met and the first time they had spoken together.
Usually, Tim was responsible for acting as the bridge between Bellion and the rest of the Ravens. Judging by how merrily the two were getting together, he felt his position threatened by someone who was supposed to be working under him.
"You called for me, sir?" Tim asked, interrupting their conversation.
"Ah, yes. Please guide Red outside," Bellion replied before turning towards Red. "It was nice to meet you, son. I hope you’ll continue to work for the Ravens and help us reach new heights."
"I’ll try my best, sir," Adrian replied, getting up. "As for that mission, you have nothing to worry about. I’ll deal with it."
"I have no doubts about it," Bellion nodded before ignoring them, his way of telling them they were done.
Tim bowed before Bellion but saw that Red didn’t do the same. While it bothered him, what bothered him even more was that Bellion didn’t seem bothered by Red’s behaviour. When before, Bellion would have punished anyone who didn’t show him respect, but now he didn’t seem to mind.
"What was it all about?" Tim asked Adrian.
Clearly, Tim wasn’t okay with their interaction. Adrian sensed he was jealous and decided to play with his emotions more. The man had killed him once, so messing with his mind was the least he could do.
"It might sound a bit ridiculous," Adrian mumbled. "But I can’t tell you about it since the boss asked me not to share the details. All I can say is I’ve been given a mission to complete back in the Wilderness."
"You’re going back there?" Tim raised an eyebrow, shocked.
Out of everyone who had been to the Wilderness, only a handful had ever made it back. Tim knew Red must have suffered a lot during his time there and couldn’t wrap the thought that he was eager to return to such a place.
"I know what you’re thinking," Adrian sighed, touching Tim’s shoulder. "But the Ravens need someone to be there, and because I’ve been there before, it makes sense for me to go back."
Tim nodded. It did make sense. But what puzzled him was why Bellion was suddenly interested in the Wilderness. There was something off about it. But Chubby came rushing towards them before they could get deeper in their discussion.
"Where afe you goinf off tuu?" he asked, stuffing an entire roasted chicken in his mouth.
"...eat up first before you speak!" Adrian lashed out, hitting him in the stomach, and Chubby hurled everything onto Tim, who stood before him.
It all happened in less than a second. One moment, Chubby was standing before them, and the next, he was hanging over them, his head stuck in the ceiling while the rest of him dangled down like a pendulum.
"...I’ll appreciate it if you get out on your own," Tim mumbled, and he turned to leave. "I have to get cleaned."
"Sure..." Adrian replied, giving them one more look before heading towards the bar. "I’ll just drop a gift there and be out. See you later."
He might not want them dead without making proper use first, but he sure wasn’t letting the Ravens go unscathed after what they did.
