City of Desire-Chapter 336: Lv. 39
Merchant of Desire Lv. 39 [Master of Legacy]
[Skill Gained: Infuse Mist]
When I woke up, I found myself on my bed with light coming in from the windows.
I thought I woke up a few hours later, but that wasn't the case. The texts wouldn't have been floating in front of me.
So, it must be the next day—there's no way it's evening with the bright light streaming in. The realization caught me off guard, and my eyes widened when I glanced at the clock.
I must've pushed myself too hard yesterday, but I never imagined I'd sleep for an entire day.
It's eleven-thirty. Almost to the minute—an exact day.
Seeing that, I immediately contacted Robin and others and assured them of my well-being. I had told them I wouldn't be available yesterday.
I thought I would recover by the night, but it took a complete day. Seeing that I am feeling slight weight, I haven't fully recovered.
I had made a fast recovery in my legacy, and on top of that, I felt Caena's spells on me, which made the recovery faster. If I had been outside, it would have been longer.
Still, it might take another day or two for me to recover fully.
I pushed myself as hard as I did against the bandit, but this time, I had better tools to deal with it.
It is all because of my aura, the control of which improved significantly. If I had that much control, like yesterday, I wouldn't have needed to push myself too hard against the bandit.
I pushed away the thought of recovery and looked at my level up.
My main class had reached Lv. 39; same as my lord class. The next level up would be Lv. 40, and it won't be easy.
If Lv. 30 makes one a powerhouse, then Lv. 40 gives one the hint of unreasonable power that Lv. 50 has. It's not easy to reach that level.
I could even get stuck on this level like many others until I die.
I shook my head and focused on the skill. I had been blessed with good skills; they might not be flashy, but they are good, but this time, I am disappointed.
As its name suggests, Infuse Mist lets me infuse things with the mist, which I could already do and was very good at—better than even Caena—since it is my legacy.
I would have preferred if I had gotten another skill.
I didn't let myself think too hard about it and focused on the skill. A moment later, an ivory piece appeared in my hand. It is a small ivory pearl.
It had no mist infused in it other than what it had absorbed naturally in the store.
I looked at it before activating Infuse Mist. Immediately, the Mist around me gathered and began to pour into ivory pearl incredibly fast, faster than I thought it would.
Within seconds, it had absorbed enough mist that I would have been able to push inside before feeling resistance, but there was none.
Nearly half a minute passed when I felt resistance, and only now am I beginning to use my control and the skill to push even more.
I wanted to see how much I could infuse in it. I continued till I couldn't anymore.
I wanted to use my aura to push it further, but I decided to rest the aura until I fully recovered.
"The skill might not be as bad as I thought it would be," I said, talking to myself as I looked at the ivory pearl. It now looked more beautiful than a real pearl, with heavy mist infused in every part of it.
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
I looked at it for several seconds before focusing on the last thing. The attribute point is that there isn't much to think about this time.
All my attributes are at twenty. So, I added the one I have to charm, taking it to the twenty-one.

I felt its effects, and a smile appeared on my face, but a moment later, it disappeared, and my stomach growled. I haven't eaten anything since yesterday.
I got out of the bed and went to the bathroom.
When I came out, I saw Caena sitting in my room. In front of her was breakfast, which smelled amazing; it made me nearly leap at the food.
"How much?" I asked as I sat at the small table. "39.46%," she replied. It immediately froze me on my spot.
"You are not joking, are you?" I asked, not daring to believe. Honestly, I thought it would be between 20% and 25%, but it is nearly double that. It is 10% more than what we got from Halcyon, at least percent-wise.
"No," she replied. At the same time, I slumped back on the chair and sighed.
It took me a while to control my emotions before I turned to her.
"So, did you get what you needed from the spell?" I asked. "Yes, more than I had thought," she replied, with a smile appearing on her face.
It might be hard to believe, but the core essence was the secondary priority. The primary priority was to test the spell and gain the data.
It is not data in a mage or scientific sense, but it is the best word I could find to describe the witchy-witchy stuff she described.
The spell worked, but it was only a prelude to what she would use against the Tranquil Bathhouse.
"It would be great. If we could practice on one more core before engaging with the Tranquill Bathhouse." She wished, and I couldn't help but smile hearing that.
"We were fortunate to get this one. I don't think Taurus Theatre nor the other one will die before the bathhouse is cut loose," I replied.
Still, I will try for the other legacies. We need more certainty; one more core will significantly help with that.
"I am nearly finished upgrading the wall charms," she told me after talking about Mok's core. "Focus on the spell. You can work on upgrades later," I replied.
She is upgrading the legacy charms.
She had already completed over a third of the upgrades and wanted to complete the rest as soon as possible.
Many times, I told her she didn't have to hurry. We have time; it might be a lot of time. It is not easy for the legacy to advance to the throne.
She is not listening; she is focused on upgrading the charms embedded in a legacy, including the grand spells that have become its foundation.
I would have loved it if she had listened to my suggestion. The needed resources for the charms aren't cheap, and I must be extremely careful when buying them.
"I had a good skill," I said. We usually don't share our skills—only those we thought were useful to others and the legacy.
"What is it?" she asked curiously. I didn't answer. Instead, I handed her an ivory pearl. For a second, there was confusion before her eyes widened.
She closed her eyes and kept them closed for nearly a minute before opening them.
"This is a handy skill; it is going to save me a lot of time," she said with a smile that didn't give me a good feeling.
A moment later. A box appeared in front of me. "I hope you will be able to infuse a similar amount of mist into them," she stated.
There are a lot of things inside it.
"When you do need it?" I asked with a sigh. "End of the week, if possible," she replied and got up before turning to me.
"Don't tell Eva about it, or she won't let you sleep in peace," she warned and walked away. I regret telling her and will not make the same mistake with Eva.
I finished the breakfast, and I closed my eyes. Feeling the changes Mok's Tavern had brought.
Its effects aren't as significant as the Halcyon's despite my core merging with a greater percentage of core essence.
That's because, unlike Halcyon's core, which offered me an aspect of the casino. I had already had what Mok's Tavern was offering.
It is a tavern that serves drinks and food. I do the same, albeit with a slightly different setting.
It is the same with the emotion scale.
Still, that doesn't mean it didn't help. It did; it made those aspects richer.
I could tell the Velvet Red floors and Velvet Blue began to harness more emotions.
About 1% to 1.5%. It might not seem like much, but it is; given the sheer space of Velvet Blue and Velvet Red along with the casino, it's a lot.
There's also that remaining portion—40% of the essence we harvested. Well, more precisely, 22.35%. The rest fused directly into my core.
That's still a staggering amount of essence. With it, I'll be able to do a lot. The possibilities it opens up are immense.
Soon, I walked out of my room and took the elevator. I wanted to stay in the legacy but had a few important meetings to attend.
"Has anything important happened?" I asked Lola as I sat in my carriage; she was already there.
"No, nothing important, aside from Prince Declan succeeded in conquering back Efal City from kingdom of Geim." She informed.
"He did it pretty quickly," I replied, surprised.
Many princes are hiding in safety while many are fighting. Prince Declan is one of the princes fighting.
He was on the back foot till a few months ago, but now he is attacking, with Efal being the second city he had captured in the past month.
"People are saying he might be able to repel Geim's forces out of the region," said Lola, but I shook my head.
"It's not that easy," I replied.
Geim had made extensive preparations and captured many defensive points. Even if they didn't advance, they would have no problem defending their conquered area.
However, this is a war, and anything could happen.
Battles across most fronts have slowed down from the peak. Imperial forces are holding down the lines. Given the situations on the battlefield, this could continue for a while.
I am not predicting anything, nor do I have enough experience to do that, but I am preparing as much as I can to defend against anything that will come at me.
