Claim Me Captain! I'm Addicted to You!-Chapter 422: Run Away (1)
Vicky’s POV
It’s been a week since Ollie got shot, and today is finally his discharge day. I wasn’t expecting him to ask me to pick him up. Especially because ever since that day, ever since the panic, the gunshots, the blood, we haven’t really talked about... us.
Yeah, he did admit that he does want me, even loves me, but no clarifying conversation. No closure. No "what are we now?" moment.
Just lingering looks and a fragile truce. But I didn’t drag it out because after seeing how his secretary and assistant bother him with urgent work that needs his attention, even though he was in his hospital bed, I knew it was not his intention either.
He hired a caregiver, buried himself in work, and turned his VVIP hospital room into his personal courtroom. Papers everywhere, meetings, witnesses going in and out—classic Oliver.
Georgia’s case against Nancy was still ongoing, and my father’s lawyer had taken over in the hearings, but Ollie kept working from his bed like nothing could stop him, since there were other cases that he also needed to work on.
Even though the conversation between us was left hanging, I was kind of proud of him. He really made a name for himself, and after he accepted Dad’s investment, clients just kept pouring in.
When I reached the hallway, his assistant and security team were already hauling out boxes, file cases, and suitcases, like he was moving out of a penthouse suite instead of a hospital room.
"He’s waiting for you," Ria whispered with a grin as she trailed after Rob, who was dragging Ollie’s luggage.
My heart did this stupid little flip as I stepped inside.
Ollie was sitting at the edge of the bed, talking to his doctor. He looked... unfairly good. Clean suit, arm in a sling, tie loosened, hair brushed back. He looked more like a CEO finishing a meeting than someone who’d been shot a week ago.
"So just wear that support until your next check-up," the doctor instructed. "Remove it only for showers. Other than that, keep it on at all times."
Oliver nodded obediently. "Yes, I’ll follow everything exactly."
Then the doctor walked out—and Ollie’s head turned toward me.
His smile wasn’t big, but it was warm enough to melt down every wall I’d been trying to rebuild.
"Hi," I greeted, trying not to stare too long. "Shouldn’t you still stay here if you’re not fully recovered?"
He shook his head gently. "My wounds are dry on the outside already, that’s why they’re letting me go. The tissues inside just need time, hence the sling. It keeps everything in place so I don’t mess it up."
"That’s exactly why you should stay," I argued. "The moment you get out of this place, you’ll drown yourself in work again. Well, even this whole week you were working, what more if you go home now?"
Ollie smirked like he’d been waiting for me to say that. "Wrong."
I blinked. "Excuse me?"
"I’m actually taking a four-day vacation starting today. I had completed a lot of work this week, just so I can take that vacation," he said, completely unfazed. "I would’ve made it a week, but the ruling for Raymond and Nancy’s cases is in five days. I can’t miss that."
A vacation. Oliver Morris. Those words didn’t even make sense in one sentence.
"Oh," I murmured suspiciously. "So you’re going out of town? Where?"
"Yes, and I’m not telling you yet where," he answered, far too casually. "And I’m not going alone." His eyes dropped to my lips before meeting my gaze again. "You’re coming with me."
My entire brain short-circuited.
"I’m... what?" I sputtered.
"I can’t drive, remember?" he said, lifting his injured arm like Exhibit A. "And I don’t want to go alone. Or with anyone else." His voice softened in a way that hit me right in the chest. "I want to go with you."
My eyebrow shot up all the way to heaven. "Oliver, you are not making any sense. You didn’t even tell me you were kidnapping me out of town today! I have work. And I didn’t even bring clothes!"
I could feel myself spiraling—and he had the audacity to look amused.
So calm. So certain. Like this was the most obvious thing in the world.
"Great!" Oliver declared as if I’d just agreed to marry him. "You didn’t decline my invitation. So that’s a yes." He stood up—still looking annoyingly handsome for an injured man—and gently took my wrist. "Let’s go."
"Ollie! That is not an invitation!" I protested as he pulled me out of the room. "And what about my work?!"
"I already talked to Nick, Liam, and your father. I asked for help if they can cover for you, or maybe talk to the people who can," he said with the smuggest grin I’ve ever seen. "Your secretary cleared your schedule for the entire week. Your COO and EA got everything handled."
I stopped walking for a second. "I—What?! Oliver, are you serious?"
He didn’t even flinch. "Very. Now come on."
We stepped into the elevator, and my panic doubled. "And what about my clothes? My things? I’m a woman, Oliver! I can’t just go! I have things I need to bring!"
He gave me that soft, knowing half-smile that always gets me in trouble. "Already handled. Everything you might need is in my car. We’re taking my car, by the way."
I swear my soul briefly left my body.
"WHAT?!" I pressed myself against the elevator wall, dramatically clutching my chest. "I think I’m going to faint."
Oliver laughed at my suffering. And when the elevator doors opened, we found Ria and Rob waiting beside his car like they were part of some secret mission.
"Did you get it?" Oliver asked.
Ria nodded. "Yes, sir. According to Miss Georgia, everything is in there."
"Everything? What’s in there?" I echoed, suspicious. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
Before Ria could answer, I yanked the back door open, and my jaw practically hit the floor.
There were paper bags from different clothing brands piled inside. Shoes. Make-up. Skin care. Even a hair tool set. It looked like a department store exploded in his backseat.
"What the—" I gasped, stunned. "Ollie!"
He only smirked, hand in his pocket, looking way too proud of himself.
Ria and Rob tried to hide their laughter behind him.
I turned back to the mountain of bags.
He... he really did all this.
Just for me... Despite all the disbelief and retorts I had uttered, I still didn’t say no, because I admit a part of me wanted to go, to escape this city with him.
"So," Ollie uttered, "Ready to run away with me?"
My eyes widened, "What?! Run away?!"
