Claimed By A Dragon Prince-Chapter 32: Taking Down a Darkling
Chapter 32: Taking Down a Darkling
Dimitri was concerned after hearing that Lily had been attacked calling in his second, he informed him about the attack on his mate. "While she hasn’t voiced it herself, the incident today could have triggered something. Many thought you would avoid mating altogether even the nobles who sent candidates."
The list of possible suspects was growing, but the one that stuck in his mind was the Wolf Clan Royalty. They stand to lose the most if they can’t convince Lily to change her mind. He doubted they could with their history with her. He knew his mate didn’t tolerate people telling her what to do.
"Find out if there are any traces that might help us identify the attackers. They could have attacked Trinee and she is a dragon clan citizen and researcher as well. they may be trying to collect our people." Erik nodded the bowed heading out to find the assassins. Dimitri still had a bad feeling when he felt the darkness from the village in close range to him. Then his heart lurched as he felt through the mate bond that Lily was hit to the ground her shoulder hurting.
Pulling the doors open to his balcony he jumps shifting immediately heading to his mate. Feeling for where she was he could hear a shrieking roar that led him to Lily’s room. She was under the Darkling dragon’s claws, one piercing her shoulder. He roared in outrage driving for his mate extending his hind legs out to grab the darkling dragon off her.
*Lily! Roll away if you can when I grab it!* Dimitri shouted in his mind hoping she heard him as he grabbed the darkling dragon. She screamed in pain tryig to roll, but the Darkling had a hold on her taking Lily over the edge with both dragons. *Dimitri.....It won’t let....me go.* Lily tried to get out when more dragons joined the fight a golden dragon grabbing the darkling from Dimitri.
The Darkling refused to let Lily go, but she pulled a knife out of her boot stabbing his claw. It Shrieks in pain flailing about releasing her as she drops towards the ground. A few feet before she hits the ground Dimitri swoops in holding her to his chest as he makes a rough landing.
The dust settles as the two stand, Dimitri having shifted after landing. He was torn up and bleeding on part of his back from what Lily could see. "Goddess are you okay?" Lily looks over the worst of it a road burn all up the left side of him. "You were the one almost kidnapped and you asking if I’m okay?" Lily gave him a sour look hissing as she touched a sensitive spot.
The golden dragon lands as a servant quickly brings him a rob as well ask Dimitri. The King looks concerned as he approaches looking his son’s wounds over. "Get the royal physician to look at that." "My mate will attend to me, father. Her remedies work better and faster. She also has fresh clean dragon moss that can heal this." The King looked to Lily who nodded. "How are you, my dear? That shoulder doesn’t look good."
"Trinee will want to look at this. I can smell some of the slug we have been testing lately. If she can get a fresh sample before it can do damage to me we may have abetter idea what we’re dealing with." Lily could feel her head start to get light and her balance starting to give. Dimitri steadied her then picked her up bridal style walking back to the castle his father next to him.
The queen met them at the back entrance fussing over the king who was perfectly fine having captured the darkling the guards were now dragging to the dungeons. "My queen I am fine. It was Prince Dimitri and Princess Lily who were hurt. Please let them through so they can be treated."
The queen looked at the two with disgust, begrudgingly moving as Trinee and Nina came down the main staircase. "Lily! Oh my Goddess! Is she okay?" "She has some of the toxic slug in her from the claws of the Darkling dragon. Trinee get a sample fast and make an antidote to counter act this. Quickly!" Prince Dimitri urge her as she quickly got to work.
Erik and some of the elite guards walked up to them as Trinee finished taking her sample about to leave. "Nina go with her. Erik, pick four of your guards to go with them. I need them alive." He nodded pointing to four men who followed the women to the labs. He looked down at Lily who was shivering in his arms. Worried he tired to think of something that could help her. The moon was high and the sky clear as he looked out the window closest to him.
Walking closer to it he made sure she was bathing in its light hoping it would help. His father walked up next to him looking down at the woman in his son’s arms. They both waited to see if something would happen when her skin began to glow subtly. He looked at his father who was just as shocked seeing this. The glow started over her heart and spread over her skin quickly covering the wound on her shoulder with the toxin.
Her blood boiled as she started to thrash around fighting the healing process. His uncle Magnus showed up quickly walking to him seeing her thrashing body. "Holy Shit what is happening to her?! This could kill her! Who’s making the antidote?!" "Trinee is working on it, but Lily is fighting trying to heal herself some how. I thought she didn’t have a wolf?"
"She doesn’t, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t special. I have only seen this one other time and that’s when she was nearly beaten to death at the academy. I expelled those students and they were punished accordingly. I believe they are still serving their time, yes brother?"
Uncle Magnus looked to the king who nodded yes. "Of course they are when you told me about what happened I was appalled at their actions. Beating a student just because she was smarter with more talent then they could ever muster. I made sure their families disowned them, to set and example."
The glow started to shine out of her shoulder blinding them before healing over completely. The light receded as well as the glow slowly disappearing from Lily’s skin and her breath becoming more even. Her eyes fluttered open looking at the men surrounding her. "What happened?"
"That is what we would like to know." Prof. Magnus shook his head hearing the king just as confused as him.
