Caleb Mamet lowered his eyes, a hint of icy killing intent flashed through them. The waiter felt a chill spread all over his body, trembling in fear, “Mr. Caleb Mamet, I… I really didn’t do it on purpose! Mrs. Mamet! Please forgive me!”

“Mrs. Mamet, I beg you, I can’t be fired. I need this job to support my family. You are a wealthy wife; you have a generous heart, so don’t be petty with a poor person like me.”

People heard the commotion and looked over, seeing Caleb holding Xaviera, his back already soaked.

Somebody looked at the terrified waiter and stepped forward to persuade, “Mrs. Mamet, he didn’t do it on purpose, why make it difficult for him?”

“Mrs. Mamet, you are indeed a wealthy wife, but you can’t look down on the waitstaff! They are also human beings, making a living by their labor. What’s so disgraceful about it?”

At this moment, Zora Hughes entered, looking puzzled, “What’s going on?”

Seeing Zora, the waiter felt as if he had grasped a lifesaver and rushed over to her, crying in anguish, “Miss, you must know Mrs. Mamet, right? Please help me, I really can’t lose this job. As long as Mrs. Mamet doesn’t hold a grudge, I’m willing to do anything. I can kneel down and apologize!”

The waiter’s wailing attracted many guests, and slowly everyone gathered around, the grand banquet hall suddenly quieting down.

Zora seemed to be frightened by the waiter and took a few steps back in fear. Then she looked at Xaviera, her eyes full of worry, “Xaviera, are you okay?”

Xaviera sneered inwardly, guessing what Zora was going to do, but her expression remained indifferent.

Zora ran nervously to her side, taking a good look at her. Seeing that she was unharmed, she finally let out a sigh of relief: “I’m glad you’re not injured. What happened?”

The waiter covered his face and sobbed, “I was carrying a few glasses of wine near Mrs. Mamet when my foot suddenly slipped, accidentally spilling the wine. It almost got on Mrs. Mamet’s clothes, but it really wasn’t intentional. Mrs. Mamet, please let me go!”

Caleb’s gaze turned cold. Xaviera patted his hand and said with a smile, “Don’t worry, let him speak.”

“Miss Hughes is really persistent! She put on a show at the door and now in the banquet hall.” Caleb whispered into her ear so that only the two of them could hear.

He gently brushed her stray hair behind her ear, his voice soft and alluring, “Xaviera, how do you plan to deal with her?”

Xaviera leaned into his embrace, saying nothing, only revealing a sly smile.

Seeing Xaviera remaining silent, Zora became even more smug. This banquet had just begun, and Xaviera had already created such an arrogant image in front of everyone. It seemed that this Basil Carter was not too stupid.

“Don’t cry anymore; I’ll try to intercede for you. Xaviera has a kind heart and won’t make things hard for you.” Zora said gently.

Upon hearing this, the waiter immediately exclaimed, “Thank you, Miss! You really are a great person!”

Zora quickly looked at Xaviera, bit her lip as if making a difficult decision, and then spoke somewhat nervously, “Xaviera, he has apologized, and you aren’t injured. It’s just a small matter; why pressure him like this? It would do you no good if he loses his job, and everyone will think you’re petty.”

“Don’t think that I’m nagging. I’m just looking out for you. I don’t want others to misunderstand you. Besides, today is the Mamet Corporation’s banquet with so many guests present. If you don’t think about yourself, at least think about Mr. Caleb Mamet!”

Xaviera’s eyes narrowed. Zora’s tactics had indeed become more advanced. First, she hired a waiter to put on an act; then, she stepped out to accuse Xaviera of being petty. But Xaviera simply didn’t care. Leaning against Caleb, she crossed her arms with a cold, indifferent voice, “I’m pressuring him?”

Zora stood in front of Xaviera with a weaker demeanor, trying to explain anxiously, “That’s not what I meant. But now that you’re married to Mr. Caleb Mamet, you have to consider him in everything you do. Your past mischief might have been tolerable, but now your reputation represents his. It’s such a small matter; can’t you just forgive him?”

“Xaviera, you took my engagement, and I can let that go. But I hope you cherish it and fulfill the duties of Mrs. Mamet, earning everyone’s praise.”
