Clan Prosperity Starting With My Servant Girls-Chapter 282: Deciding the Future
Back in the mansion, Lin Xuan Qi was enjoying a rare moment of rest for him.
He finally had the chance to be at the pavilion in the garden, enjoying his tea to marvel at the scenery of the pond.
And beside the pond, Zhi Yong was happily trying to fish with a crude fishing rod.
"Master, come fish." He turned around and waved at Lin Xuan Qi to entice Lin Xuan Qi to join in the fun.
But Lin Xuan Qi wasn’t in the mood for it.
He had been too busy with the wedding and the businesses.
And there was something he knew he had missed out on but he couldn’t recall.
He struggled hard to remember until he saw Ah Di walking by.
Lin Xuan Qi slapped his forehead and shook his head at himself.
"How can I forget about my brother-in-law?" He mumbled to himself and waved at Ah Di.
Ah Di saw it and he quickly ran over to him, "Master... Brother-in-law."
He wasn’t used to it but he was able to address Lin Xuan Qi correctly at the last minute.
Ah Di was still young and Lin Xuan Qi didn’t want him to live his life without any agency.
Since Ah Di was his brother-in-law, he could let Ah Di live a comfortable life in the mansion for the rest of his life.
But he knew that if he did so, Ah Di would most likely become a young master or an antsy adult later in life due to the fact that Ah Di would have nothing much to do.
It was only human nature.
Either outcome wouldn’t be a satisfactory one for everyone.
But to let Ah Di make a choice and see if he could help the clan in any other ways would be better.
"Take a seat and have tea. You are no longer my servant." Lin Xuan Qi saw that Ah Di was still standing so he offered him a seat.
Ah Di wasn’t used to the change in his status yet and it took him a while to take his seat.
Lin Xuan Qi poured him a cup of tea and said, "If you are feeling uncomfortable with the treatment you are getting, please don’t.
"You can help me out in the future."
"Help out in what ways?" Ah Di opened his eyes and asked.
"You can choose to help out in the business, learn a skill or study." Lin Xuan Qi said and Ah Di lowered his head to think about all the options.
"Business... skill... study..." Ah Di mumbled to himself, unsure of what would be the best for him.
Lin Xuan Qi didn’t want to intervene and let Ah Di choose for himself.
"There’s no hurry, you can think about it slowly." He said, much to the relief of Ah Di.
Any option that Ah Di chose would be useful to Ah Di and him.
For business, Ah Di could help in managing the workers.
It would be great for Ah Di to learn a skill to be able to make a living on his own.
And lastly, if he studied hard, Ah Di could go the scholar route and maybe get into governance.
After dealing with Magistrate Ho, Lin Xuan Qi felt that it would be advantageous to have someone on the inside.
But it was still early now as Ah Di was still young.
There was more than enough time for him to make a decision.
As for whether Ah Di would want to become a cultivator, it would also be his choice later.
And that would be after he figured things out for Xue Cong and the others.
"Come, let’s have a fishing competition." Lin Xuan Qi glanced at Ah Di and invited him to join Zhi Yong in fishing.
With the thing about Ah Di’s future off his chest, he was now in the mood to fish.
Ah Di nodded his head and they joined in with Zhi Yong.
When Xue Cong passed by the garden and saw what they were doing.
She shook her head at them.
It was getting cold and they were out by the side of the pond.
She wanted to stop them but didn’t when she saw them having a good time together.
"Master, me catch!" Zhi Yong stood up and shouted when he saw his fishing rod moving vigorously.
Lin Xuan Qi quickly ran over and shouted, "Wait, let me help!"
Ah Di tried to help, standing by the side, getting ready to net the fish when it was out of the water.
"Get ready a pot of hot tea for them." Xue Cong shook her head and sighed.
Men... she thought silently to herself.
But she was glad to see Lin Xuan Qi being able to take a break and enjoy himself.
It had been so long since he had a break again.
"I will get it done." Xiu, who was with Xue Cong, bowed to Xue Cong and got to work with what Xue Cong had instructed.
...
Meanwhile, Lu Ting opened the window of her suite in the inn.
An eagle soaring in the sky saw it and swooped down towards the opened window.
It stopped and stood on the latch.
Lu Ting opened the pouch that was secured to one of its legs and opened it.
Much to her disappointment, there was nothing but a letter in it.
She read the letter, skipping through the usual nagging from her father telling her to return.
And when she got to the latter part of the letter, she was told that there weren’t any stock for the Spirit Herbs that she had requested.
She crunched the letter and threw it aside.
Lu Ting felt regret about not bringing along a voice transmitting pendant when she sneaked out from home.
If not, she would be able to pester her father to help her immediately.
But it was too late for her.
She would be under heavy guards and surveillance if she returned back home to the capital city.
That put her in a bit of a fix.
She didn’t want to break her promise to Lin Xuan Qi and also give up on the chance to get closer to him for now.
