Classless Awakening; My Dragon Is Legendary-Chapter 32: Easy Win
The initial shock of Varyn overwhelmed Derrick. He was unable to believe what just happened.
The doll took advantage of Derrick’s confusion, delivering a kick, which Derrick immediately blocked.
[-10% HP.]
[Arm bones have been fractured.]
’It broke my hand so easily?’ Derrick was unable to believe it.
The pain shot through his arms, but he powered through.
"Crap," he muttered, he activated his dragon flash skill, creating space between he and the doll.
"What’s wrong?" The doll asked with a smile on its face.
"I’m just a little rusty," Derrick replied.
In truth, it had been months since his last real fight, and his body felt the absence of regular combat.
His healing factor had already began working, quickly repairing his damaged arm.
The doll closed the distance between them in a few seconds, moving with unnatural speed, but Derrick didn’t panic.
Before it could launch an attack, however, Derrick struck with both fists at the doll’s chest.
Derrick didn’t give the doll any breathing space, he immediately followed up with a floating tornado kick.
His leg grazed the doll’s head, startling it for a moment.
With surprising agility, the doll grabbed his leg before it could reach the ground, and flung Derrick backward.
The world spun around him as he tumbled through the air.
Derrick barely managed to activate air step, allowing him to land softly.
Across the battlefield, Derrick and the doll locked eyes once again.
Neither of them moved, both were wondering what the other was thinking, while also plotting their next moves.
They both surged forward simultaneously, and their fists clashed mid air, causing a small shockwave to spread out.
Derrick pulled his fist back, he instinctively activated dragon fist, causing dark red energy to surround it.
He struck the doll’s chest with tremendous force, and this time, the doll began to splinter.
The doll’s eyes widened in disbelief. Somehow, Derrick’s strikes now packed far more power than they should have. For the first time, it felt fear.
It flung its arms, sending an arc of bright blue flames through the air.
Derrick barely managed to dodge, however, his cloak had gotten caught in the fire.
Derrick pulled the cloak off himself, blocking his line of sight for a split second, an opportunity which the doll utilized.
Derrick stepped aside, letting the attack fly harmlessly past him.
He used dragon flash once again to create even more distance between the both of them.
Derrick circled the doll once more, and a strange idea came into his min, he decided to try something unconventional.
A smile appeared on his face, and he closed the distance.
One thing Derrick had noticed was that the doll, like many others he had faced, fought based on what they know.
The doll has been made to counter and fight, using standard fighting styles.
Sure, the doll tried to make its movements fluid, but it was still bound to its artificial nature.
And whenever it encountered something strange or unexpected, it had little to no defense for such a situation.
For example, a martial artist who mastered karate might be completely thrown off by being bitten in the middle of a fight.
The confusion would overwhelm them, giving their opponent the precious opportunity they needed.
The doll slammed its hands into Derrick’s head with crushing force, but Derrick didn’t flinch.
His mind was locked in on his goal, his determination overriding the pain that shot through his skull.
He wrapped his hands around the stomach of the doll, feeling the strange texture of its artificial body, raised it high into the air with a grunt of exertion, and slammed it violently into the ground.
Derrick wasn’t fighting like a trained fighter anymore. He was fighting with pure instincts.
The impact sent vibrations through the earth beneath them.
The doll’s eyes flickered with what almost looked like surprise.
It never expected Derrick to use such a move on it.
Just like Derrick had predicted, the doll hadn’t been programmed with a defense for such a move.
The doll quickly stood to its feet, but Derrick swept its legs instantly.
Without hesitation, he slammed both fists into the head of the doll, splitting parts of its skull, revealing its internals.
The doll was about to launch another attack, its arms began to glow with gathering energy, when Derrick unsheathed his sword in one fluid motion.
Derrick’s blade caught the light as it moved through the air with unevlievable precision.
Derrick’s sword cleaved straight through the doll’s head.
The severed head tumbled to the ground as the body collapsed, finally defeated.
[That was...]
The system was at a loss for words.
’Easy...’ Derrick sheathed his sword, still unable to believe that the doll which had been giving him so much trouble had been defeated so easily.
The system rewarded Derrick with EXP and stat points for defeating the doll, but he didn’t bother to check.
[Well, isn’t that a good thing?]
Derrick couldn’t deny it, the system had a point.
[So, you know what that means?]
The system asked Derrick.
’What?’ Derrick asked. He knew deep down, but was unsure if he could admit it.
[You are ready Derrick.]
The system had observed Derrick, and it firmly believed that he was strong enough to finally take on Ivan.
’I’m still not sure if I can beat him.’ Derrick sighed, the fear of Ivan still in his heart.
He couldn’t help but remember the multiple times Ivan had tortured him in the past.
[You can Derrick.]
The system didn’t like this version of Derrick, the version that always doubted himself.
Derrick took a deep breath and sighed.
Everyone kept telling him that he was ready, but they didn’t understand his fear or worries, and he couldn’t believe them.
’I need to see him,’ Derrick knew what he needed.
He still felt like he was lacking proper training, and there was only one man who could solidify the belief in his heart.
His original teacher, the man who always had a way with words, Sir Thompson.
"I need to see Sir Thompson."
